Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 153: Chapter 140: Coordinated Attack, Smooth Escape

”Even if it’s true, can you even get near the captain? Let alone assassinate him!”

”Don’t forget, our captain is a Fire-Type Evolver. If you don’t want to get burned to a crisp, you’d best just stay in line!”

”You’re all overthinking it. This is a job for the guards. As normal people, we should know our place!”

At the same time, the squad approaching the warehouse for flammable and explosive materials also came to a halt.

”Is... is the broadcast for real?”

”I’ve heard about Peach Blossom Base from some of the higher-ups with phones. They say it’s really powerful, and they’re always trading food for all sorts of plants. Any kind of plant will do!”

”So even some waterweeds we just scoop out of the water would work?”

”Apparently so!”

”Then they must have a ton of food!”

The squad leader nodded.

”So what do we do now?” a squad member asked gravely.

The leader considered for a moment. ”Let’s go out and assess the situation first.”

”If we do this, won’t the captain think we’re up to something?” someone asked, a little worried.

The leader shook his head. ”Peach Blossom Base’s forces are already near. All combat personnel are supposed to be out there fighting off the invaders, aren’t they?”

Upon hearing this, the other squad members’ eyes brightened. They all nodded and turned to leave.

A blocked camera in the flammables warehouse was hardly as important as an invasion!

Hearing the footsteps outside recede, Lin Mu let out a long sigh of relief from inside the warehouse. ’Peach Blossom Base arrived right on time,’ he thought, grateful. He then opened the warehouse door and cautiously stepped out.

He poured out a trail of alcohol as he walked, creating a ”fuse” for the explosion.

Lin Mu walked through the long corridor without encountering a single guard.

’This should be a safe enough distance!’

Just as Lin Mu took out a lighter, preparing to light the ”fuse,” a guard suddenly ran over.

Almost all the guards had rushed outside because of the broadcast from Peach Blossom Base.

It was unclear why this guard had turned back.

”Lin Mu? What are you doing here?” the guard asked, looking puzzled.

Lin Mu stuffed the lighter into his pocket and replied, ”I suddenly remembered the nutrient solution for the licorice was missing a few things. I was coming to request some raw materials.”

”The captain has given the order. Except for combat personnel, everyone else is to return to their rooms immediately and not wander around.” The guard seemed to be in a hurry. He unlocked the armory, grabbed an automatic rifle, quickly locked it again, and rushed back outside.

”Alright, I’m heading back now!” Lin Mu replied obediently.

The guard didn’t linger for a moment.

Watching the guard hurry away, Lin Mu thought, ’Looks like Peach Blossom Base is putting a lot of pressure on Dawn Base. Perfect! We’ll coordinate an attack from the inside and out.’

Lin Mu immediately took out his lighter, lit the ”fuse” on the ground, and then hurried toward Jianghu.

The flame shot along the fuse and quickly reached the flammables warehouse, where the floor was covered in combustible liquids.

The guards in the monitoring room had also been drawn in by the broadcast and failed to notice the fire in the flammables warehouse.

The people on the cruise ship were just a motley crew to begin with, utterly lacking any professional discipline. All it took was for Peach Blossom Base to play its broadcast a few times to draw everyone’s attention.

”Their speedboats are closing in! We have to go, now!” Jin Ziyu urged, spotting several bright searchlights cutting through the rain toward them.

Qin Haonan rolled his eyes. ”I’m not blind. Just make sure you protect the vital parts of our boat!”

Si Youqin chimed in, ”Their boats seem to be faster than ours!”

Qin Haonan nodded. ”The boss already predicted this, that’s why he had you all come along. You’ll drive the boat in a minute. I’ll see if I can find an opening to strike back.”

”Me?” Si Youqin was taken aback.

”Yeah, driving a speedboat is dummy-proof. If you can turn a steering wheel, you can drive it!” Qin Haonan replied.

Si Youqin felt resigned, but she could only bite the bullet and agree.

Just as Qin Haonan and his team were on high alert, a massive explosion suddenly rocked the Dawn Cruise with a loud BOOM.

It wasn’t just Qin Haonan and his team; even the pursuing speedboats were stunned into place.

They hurriedly turned their boats around and rushed toward the cruise ship.

Although these guards on the Dawn Cruise didn’t eat their fill, they didn’t starve, either. Maintaining the status quo was their best bet.

As for Peach Blossom Base’s broadcast, a few of the guards were certainly tempted, but they wouldn’t act rashly.

After all, it was just a verbal promise from Peach Blossom Base. No one could be sure if it was true.

Seeing the pursuing speedboats turn back, Si Youqin frowned and asked, ”What do we do now?”

Seeing the fire on the cruise ship caused by the explosion, Qin Haonan smiled and replied, ”Since there’s already a fire, let’s add some fuel to it!”

With that, he also turned the speedboat toward the cruise ship and continued shouting through a megaphone.

”Our inside man from Peach Blossom Base has made his move! This is your only chance. If you miss it, you’ll never have another shot at killing the captain! Seize this opportunity! Fight for a future free from hunger and thirst! Charge!”

Hearing this broadcast, the base members who were already harboring rebellious thoughts became even more stirred.

Meanwhile, the captain of the Dawn Cruise immediately put distance between himself and his guards. This move left the guards deeply disheartened.
