Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 178: Chapter 151: Many Suggestions, Readily Accepted

Si Youqin was also tactful enough not to ask about the messages in the regional channel.

”What’s going on? Does our base have a lot of patrol speedboats?”

”And what are these five big ships they’re talking about? I don’t think our base has any big ships!”

Ren Yuanyang heard their quiet discussion and explained, ”Dawn Base has been trying to find us. They found five large ships in our sea region and assumed they belonged to our Peach Blossom Base. To get revenge on us, they immediately leaked those coordinates!”

”That Dawn Base is really treacherous. They’re trying to make us a target for everyone!” Si Youqin said angrily.

Everyone stopped their chopsticks, filled with righteous indignation.

Ren Yuanyang looked at their reactions and said with a smile, ”There’s no need for that. Just eat your food and enjoy the show.”

”Yes, Chief!” everyone replied in unison.

”Chief, do you think other people will figure out that those five ships are the Magpie Country’s fleet?” Qin Haonan asked, his words muffled as he shoveled a mouthful of rice into his mouth.

Ren Yuanyang pondered for a moment before replying, ”It’s possible, but not very likely. Since the Magpie Country’s fleet already knows that large ships are targeting them, they will surely tighten their perimeter patrols. It’ll be difficult for other survivors to get close to them again.”

Qin Haonan nodded. ”That’s a relief!”

He was genuinely worried that the large ships targeting Peach Blossom Base wouldn’t end up fighting the Magpie Country’s fleet!

On the large screen, a message suddenly popped up in the regional channel.

”Why am I seeing other large ships nearby?”

”What do you mean? There are other large ships besides those five?”

”That’s right, and it looks like they aren’t part of the same group!”

”Now this is interesting! It seems other large ships have also targeted these five!”

”I advise everyone to stop heading over to join the commotion. Whether those five large ships belong to Peach Blossom Base or not, it looks like a major conflict is about to break out. Be careful not to get caught in the crossfire!”

”Peach Blossom Base already warned everyone not to go, but some people just don’t listen!”

”I’ve learned my lesson, please spare me! I’m already getting far away!”

”The poster above must be that guy who wanted to contact Peach Blossom Base!”

”Yeah, I got close and was driven off by a patrol speedboat. They even fired a burst of bullets at me. I really don’t think it’s Peach Blossom Base. The survivors who’ve traded with them all say they aren’t that aggressive!”

”Maybe they’re acting so aggressive precisely because they’re afraid of their location being exposed?”

It seemed some survivors still believed that was Peach Blossom Base.

Seeing the discussion in the regional channel, Lin Mu frowned slightly. ”Chief, since the other party isn’t Peach Blossom Base, why don’t they clarify that in the regional channel?”

”They don’t dare. They’re a fleet from Magpie Country,” Ren Yuanyang explained.

”Magpie Country!” Lin Mu and the others stared with wide eyes.

Ren Yuanyang nodded affirmatively. ”Jiamei went to confirm it. I also asked Captain Wang Jun. The letters on those ships represent Magpie Country’s Han Jin Association!”

”I can’t believe Magpie Country has invaded Dragon Country’s territory!” Lin Mu exclaimed. ”No wonder they don’t dare to reveal their identity!”

”If they did reveal their identity, the Dragon Country fleets would be even more excited to go after them!” Qin Haonan added.

”Still, this Magpie Country fleet is being very low-key,” Jianghu commented, holding a chicken foot. ”Isn’t Magpie Country usually really high-profile? Claiming everything is theirs? This low-key approach doesn’t fit their usual style.”

”When things are this unusual, something must be afoot. They must be up to no good,” Xin Wan speculated.

”Don’t tell me they’re also experimenting on our countrymen?” Qin Haonan froze for a second, his brow furrowing.

”It’s entirely possible. Magpie Country and Lvzhi Country are both Sea Eagle Country’s dogs. If their master gives the order, they’ll act in lockstep,” Jianghu nodded.

”If that’s the case, then they really deserve to die,” Qin Haonan said, his eyes narrowing.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

”For now, someone else is helping us confirm this matter, so we just need to wait for the results,” Ren Yuanyang continued. ”Let’s put that aside for a moment. Has anyone run into any problems lately, whether at work or in your personal lives? Since everyone is here, bring them up and we can talk about them together.”

Hearing this, the group paused for a moment, then fell into thought.

”Work is going well right now, everything is very smooth,” Si Youqin said, shaking her head to show she had no issues.

Just then, Jin Ziyu, her mouth stuffed with food, raised her hand.

Ren Yuanyang watched as she quickly swallowed the food in her mouth, marveling to himself, ’That was a huge gulp!’

”Chief, the yacht is too rocky. It’s hard to get a good night’s sleep,” Jin Ziyu said. ”It would be great if we could move the yacht into the Banyan Forest, or have the Banyan Forest surround the yacht!”

Hearing Jin Ziyu’s words, Si Youqin and the others’ eyes lit up. They thought to themselves, ’Ziyu is really our spokesperson!’

Their lives were already quite good. Although the yacht was a bit rocky, they could bear it and get to sleep.

But if it didn’t have to rock, that would be even better!

Si Youqin and the others looked at Ren Yuanyang, their faces full of hope.

Ren Yuanyang thought for a moment and replied, ”The waterways inside the Banyan Forest are too narrow; this yacht can’t fit. And surrounding it with the Banyan Forest probably won’t work either. The new aerial roots can’t withstand the ravages of a Level 7 wind. Otherwise, our Banyan Forest would already be several times its current size.”

”So there’s no way to solve this problem at all!” Jin Ziyu said, a little disappointed.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”I can allow you to rest inside the Banyan Forest, but you can only build your living quarters within a range of forty to fifty meters from the edge.”

Hearing this, Si Youqin and the others were overjoyed!

The wind and waves were much weaker in the location Ren Yuanyang described. If they built their bamboo houses between the banyan trunks, they would be very stable!

Besides the stability, the fact that Ren Yuanyang was allowing them to live in the Banyan Forest showed that his trust in them had grown even further.

”Thank you, Chief!” Si Youqin and the others said in unison, bowing.

Ren Yuanyang waved his hand. ”Any other problems?”

Jin Ziyu shook her head and went back to tackling the food on her plate.

It was the first time Lin Mu and the other two had seen Jin Ziyu’s eating habits and appetite, and they were utterly shocked.

It was a good thing Jin Ziyu was at Peach Blossom Base; any other base would not be able to support her.

Lin Mu snapped out of his shock and began to speak. ”Chief, after observing the planting areas this afternoon, I suggest we cover all of them with Duckweed. This will make it more convenient for us to harvest and plant, as we’ll be able to walk on it to work.”

”At the same time, we would only need to secure the Duckweed, leaving space for the crops. The water inside the Banyan Forest is very calm, and with the fixed Duckweed as a barrier, the crops won’t crowd together. We wouldn’t need to use aquatic plants to secure the crops every time, which means you wouldn’t have to be present for every planting!”

The equidistant coiling of the bitter grass’s stolons required Ren Yuanyang’s control. During harvest, as soon as someone pulled a plant upward, the coiling would automatically loosen.

Because of this characteristic of the bitter grass, Ren Yuanyang’s presence was indeed required for every planting.

Lin Mu’s proposed method, however, seemed genuinely effective!

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”That’s a very good idea. After we finish eating, we’ll give it a try.”

Lin Mu was very happy. He had only just arrived and was already proposing a reform to their planting methods. He had been worried that Ren Yuanyang might reject his idea and reprimand him.

He hadn’t expected Ren Yuanyang to be so receptive to good advice, which made him feel confident enough to boldly state his second suggestion for improvement.

”Chief, I have another idea about planting crops,” Lin Mu continued.

”Go on,” Ren Yuanyang said, listening intently.

”Right now, since we’re planting in water, we have to raise seedlings first; we can’t sow the seeds directly. This increases labor costs,” Lin Mu explained eloquently. ”If we could weave those aquatic plants into a net and place it under the Duckweed, we would only need to adjust the net’s depth according to the sowing depth of different seeds. Then we could sow the seeds directly onto these aquatic plant nets, which would save a lot of manpower!”

Most seeds sink in water. Only after they’ve grown into seedlings can they float upright on the surface. That’s why Ren Yuanyang had always raised seedlings first before placing them in the water to grow.

Lin Mu’s idea was completely feasible!

”Excellent!” Ren Yuanyang looked at Lin Mu with satisfaction. ”Both of those ideas are fantastic. Regardless of how they work out in practice, you’ll be rewarded!”
