Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

fishingIt should be around three in the afternoon now, Lin Feng thought for a moment and decided to go collect some more firewood, and also look for suitable trees to see how many he could cut down.

He aimed to complete the task for this floor as soon as possible.

The afternoon passed in a flash, and by the time Lin Feng returned to the camp, the sun was already setting, probably around seven o’clock.

On this trip, he filled all his bottles with fresh water, collected a pile of dry firewood, and a lot of dry grass, which was meant for bedding.

Most importantly, he cut down two trees.

The kind that were as thick as an arm.

Lin Feng didn’t have many requirements for the house, as long as he could lie down and cover the bonfire, it would be fine. At this rate, cutting fifteen or sixteen more would be enough.

But he was truly exhausted.

Having expended so much energy, the small amount he ate tonight simply wasn’t enough to replenish it, but there was nothing he could do for now.

After a simple meal of water, Lin Feng went to sleep.

The next day, Lin Feng woke up leisurely.

Thanks to the soft dry grass, he had a comfortable sleep last night.

Upon waking, hunger also set in.

He now craved meat intensely.

After drinking a few sips of cool boiled water, Lin Feng returned to the reef flat to check the traps. This time, to his surprise, he caught ten fish, each about the length of a thumb.

However, this small amount was definitely not enough for Lin Feng to eat.

Lin Feng could only place his hopes on the bird traps now.

After cutting some seaweed, Lin Feng quickly walked to the location of the bird trap.

”Holy crap!”

When Lin Feng saw the trap triggered from afar, he excitedly ran over.

He saw a colorful pheasant that had already been hanged, perhaps it was hanged last night.

But Lin Feng didn’t care about that anymore.

He rushed over, took down the pheasant, and cheered excitedly a few times.

Then he reset the trap.

With this pheasant, he could have a full meal.

But only for this one meal; the pheasant didn’t have much meat, perhaps only two or three catties including bones.

Returning to camp, Lin Feng skillfully cleaned the pheasant inside and out, not wasting even the organs and skin; everything edible was cooked and eaten.

Even the bones that could be chewed were eaten clean.

This hard-earned meat greatly invigorated Lin Feng, and at the same time, he decided to make more traps.

So he spent another two or three hours twisting ropes.

This guy, it even made his hands bleed, but fortunately, he had a self-healing function, and the wounds healed quickly. The cost was that energy consumption increased a bit.

The ropes he twisted should be enough to make five traps.

Taking the wooden sticks and ropes, Lin Feng returned to the forest and placed traps in several more locations. After doing all this, Lin Feng returned to camp to eat something, then continued to cut trees.

He didn’t return until evening, having been busy all day.

This time, he cut a total of 6 trees.

He mostly cut them and then directly hugged the tree, breaking them with his own weight.

So the efficiency was relatively fast.

Rubbing his grumbling stomach, his dinner consisted only of a few fish, some conches, seaweed, and a few skewers of grasshoppers.

It looked like a lot of variety, but it was nowhere near enough to fill him up.

This wouldn’t do; his stored body fat was almost depleted. Tomorrow’s tree-cutting work would have to be put on hold; he needed to find some food first.

Lin Feng turned his attention to the fishing line he found.

The safety pin could just be used as a fishhook.

Adding the wooden stick Lin Feng used to hook coconuts, wouldn’t that make a fishing rod?

The bait was still conch meat.

After making the fishing rod, Lin Feng went to sleep.

So far, Lin Feng hadn’t found animals like goats or wild boars on the island, so he could only focus on the ocean.

He hoped he could catch some big fish tomorrow for a good meal.

Lin Feng thought to himself as he slowly fell asleep.

He had a dream, in which he caught a very large fish. Just as he was about to kill the fish, it suddenly turned into a mermaid, not the beautiful mermaids one imagines, but an ugly mermaid with scales, fangs, and tentacles.

”Holy crap!”

Lin Feng instantly woke up, then rubbed his temples and his face.

It was already dawn.

This morning, the traps hadn’t caught any fish, so Lin Feng’s food consisted of conch meat and coconuts.

After breakfast, Lin Feng took water and went to the reef flat.

He stood on a relatively large reef and began fishing.

This area was uninhabited, so the fish living here would be easier to catch, plus they were probably starving.

Before long, Lin Feng caught a fish the length of his palm.

It was a Braid Fish. This fish had firm, garlic-clove-shaped flesh and tasted incredibly delicious. Most importantly, this fish was easy to catch and very numerous.

Basically, as long as there was meat, it would dare to eat it, as if its intelligence wasn’t quite sufficient.

Such a quick success greatly boosted Lin Feng’s morale.

After putting the fish into the iron can, Lin Feng cast his rod again.

Half an hour later, he caught another Braid Fish.

”My goodness, are there so many of these fish here?”

Lin Feng scratched his head, then decided to fish here all morning. He didn’t mind getting tanned, since he had found fresh water and wasn’t afraid of dehydration.

After the morning, Lin Feng harvested over a dozen palm-sized Braid Fish, two ”idiot fish,” and four fist-sized crabs.

They were all the kind with more meat.

With these fish, he could continue cutting trees in the afternoon. After cooking them back at camp, Lin Feng began to enjoy his seafood feast.

Seaweed soup, steamed crab, grilled fish.

Finally, he drank a coconut.

After resting for a while, Lin Feng returned to the forest to continue cutting trees.

.....

Lin Feng returned to camp around four or five in the evening. He had cut enough trees, and additionally, the traps had caught two greedy birds.

Although there was very little meat, less than half of a pheasant combined, Lin Feng was already very satisfied.

He had already planned it: he would fish in the morning, and in the afternoon, he would collect materials for building his home and look for other types of food in the forest.

Dinner consisted of some plant roots, berries, insects, seaweed, conches, a few small fish, and two small birds.

Thanks to the large meal at noon, even though he didn’t eat much at night, he wasn’t very hungry.

After eating, Lin Feng spent three or four hours tying all the cut trees together, ensuring they were secure, then lifted them and leaned them against the rock wall.

He successfully built a small home.

Fortunately, his strength attribute was very high.

Otherwise, he really wouldn’t be able to move this stuff.

Now all that was left was to cover it with leaves. Tomorrow he would go get some large leaves.

Lin Feng had originally planned to use coconut leaves, but he found better ones in the forest.

The next day, Lin Feng still fished in the morning, and in the afternoon, he went to collect leaves. It only took him one afternoon to gather enough leaves.
