After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1923: Chapter 1927: I Want That Ring

Luo Xiaoqian was too lazy to speak with him any further, so she simply turned her face away in silence, knowing there was no way to change his decision. Rather than talking to him, she’d rather be quiet for a while.

Seeing her listless expression, Luo Ke frowned slightly, just about to speak when an aide handed him the phone, ”Sir, it’s a call for you from Inspector Charlie.”

Knowing it was about Leng Zimo’s matter that Inspector Charlie was calling about, Luo Ke immediately raised his hand, took the phone up to his ear, ”Hello, this is Luo Ke.”

”Hello, Mr. Luo Ke, it’s Charlie.” Inspector Charlie’s voice immediately came from the other end of the line, filled with respect and politeness. ”The matter you instructed me to investigate has been thoroughly checked. We’ve found Leng Zimo’s corpse, in the morgue of a hospital.”

So this time, Leng Zimo really is dead?

Joy stirred within Luo Ke’s heart as he glanced at Luo Xiaoqian across from him, and only then did he ask, ”Are you sure it’s him?”

”The doctor discovered a fire, and the bodies in the morgue were severely damaged. That corpse is charred beyond recognition, but according to the forensic examination, height, weight, age, and the gun wound situation... all of the indicators match Leng Zimo’s profile. Moreover, we found a ring on his finger, confirmed by his subordinates, as the engagement ring with his wife.”

Luo Ke immediately showed interest in the ring, ”I want that ring!”

”Well...” Inspector Charlie hesitated, ”I’m afraid that’s not possible.”

Luo Ke’s voice turned cold, ”You say... not possible?!”

Hearing the displeasure in his tone, Inspector Charlie rushed to explain, ”Mr. Luo Ke, don’t misunderstand, it’s not that I won’t help, there’s more to it. Just now, at the precinct, someone snatched that ring away.”

Luo Ke was taken aback upon hearing this and urgently asked, ”What does he look like, is he Asian?!”

Opposite him, Luo Xiaoqian seemed to casually gaze at the sea view outside, although her ears were perked high, listening intently to Luo Ke’s conversation with the other party. But since they were speaking in Italian, she couldn’t understand.

But from Luo Ke’s expression, she could faintly perceive the joy he couldn’t hide.

Luo Xiaoqian’s brows furrowed even tighter, for at this moment, good news for Luo Ke was bad news for her and Leng Zimo. Could this guy have something else good coming his way?!

”I... I didn’t get a good look at his appearance...” Fearing Luo Ke’s anger, Inspector Charlie hastily added, ”However, he spoke English with a slight American accent; he probably isn’t a local.”

If the dead person indeed is Leng Zimo, then who could be the one who snatched the ring from the precinct?!

Luo Ke frowned, pondering for a moment, ”Are there any other clues?!”

”Nothing much else... just that the next of kin demanded the body be transported back to their country, disallowing police autopsy, claiming it’s a tradition for Orientals.”

”Did you agree?”

”Mr. Luo Ke, you know that, according to legal regulations, they have that right.” Inspector Charlie’s voice carried some helplessness, ”We must adhere to the rules.”

”Rules?!” Luo Ke chuckled coldly, ”Destroy that corpse. I want him to completely disappear from this world, not even leaving ashes behind. And that ring, any clue, inform me immediately.”
