After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1920: Chapter 1924: Unable to Confirm

Inspector Charlie stepped forward, glanced at the badly burned corpse, and immediately ordered, ”Take the body away.”

The officers who followed him inside promptly stepped forward, moved the charred corpse out of the morgue, and loaded it into the police car. After a brief exchange, Inspector Charlie took ”Leng Zimo’s” body back to the police station.

Standing among the onlookers outside the hospital, Leng Zimo watched the police car as it drove away. He then turned and walked to the street, got into Ah Jiu’s car, which immediately started, taking him away from the scene of the incident.

The police car quickly returned to the station, where Inspector Charlie immediately arranged for the returned body to be sent to the coroner for an autopsy.

As the coroner began examining the body, a cleaner dressed in a blue uniform walked down the corridor, carrying a mop and other cleaning tools. Beneath the brim of a lowered hat, a beautiful chin and a pair of sensuous thin lips pressed into a straight line were vaguely visible.

”What do we have?!”

Inside the autopsy room.

The forensic doctor carefully examined the body, then said to his assistant, ”Male, approximately thirty years old, shot in the left chest, right rib, and abdomen—a total of six shots, height approximately between 180 and 190 centimeters...”

”Can you determine the race?!” Inspector Charlie asked.

The forensic doctor shook his head slightly, ”It’s all charred, can’t be determined.”

His gaze swept over the fingers of the corpse, burned down to blackened bones. The forensic doctor extended his hand, removed a ring from the middle finger of the left hand, and gently wiped off the blackened residue with a cotton cloth. The silver of the ring immediately came through. Carefully placing the ring into a transparent bag, the forensic doctor sealed it and handed it to Inspector Charlie, ”This ring should be identified by the family.”

”Inspector.” One of his subordinates pushed the door open and entered from outside, ”The deceased’s family has arrived.”

Hearing this, Charlie immediately grasped the small transparent evidence bag and walked out of the autopsy room to his office, where Ah Jiu and Ah Sang were already waiting for him.

Seeing him appear, the two immediately stood up.

”Hello, Inspector, I heard you took away our sir’s body, right?”

”That’s correct. There was an incident at the hospital, and we did just take a body. Have a look at this.” He raised his hand, handing over the small bag containing the ring.

Ah Jiu took the bag, examined it carefully, ”This is our sir’s engagement ring.”

”So, the body we’ve taken should indeed be Mr. Leng’s body. To understand the case, we’ll need to temporarily keep the body. After the matter is resolved, we’ll inform you to take the body away. This is the autopsy document, who should sign it?” Mr. Charlie handed over a document.

Ah Jiu did not take the document, ”Sorry, Inspector, we are just his subordinates, not family, so we can’t sign this document. We’ve already contacted his family, and they wish to take him back to his homeland for burial and don’t want him to undergo unnecessary examinations. This is our Eastern tradition; we hope you understand.”

Mr. Charlie shrugged his shoulders and could only agree.

After all, it expressed the family’s wishes, and even he couldn’t perform an autopsy without their permission.

”However, this ring... while we are keeping it as evidence, we can’t hand it over to you for now.”
