After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1698: Chapter 1702: She’s in My Hands

After bidding farewell to a few colleagues and leaving the office, Mo Bei took the elevator straight downstairs and hailed a taxi. However, she didn’t head directly to Jiao Yang’s house; instead, she stopped at a supermarket near the villa complex where Jiao Yang lived.

Planning to buy some ingredients and cook a meal together with him.

Today, she received the wages she had earned before, and although it wasn’t a lot, it was enough to buy ingredients for a meal.

Every time, Jiao Yang would pay for her. This time, she wanted to return the gesture.

Once inside the supermarket, Mo Bei casually pushed a shopping cart towards the fresh produce area, carefully selected items, and quickly checked out, carrying two large bags of ingredients as she walked out of the supermarket.

The fastest way from the supermarket to the villa complex is through the park, so she didn’t take the main road.

Carrying the ingredients and humming a tune, Mo Bei was in high spirits.

Turning onto a path covered with climbing vines, Mo Bei set down her shopping bags and shook her slightly sore hands, catching a glimpse of a rapidly approaching figure in her peripheral vision. She simply frowned.

She had already seen him in the supermarket earlier and hadn’t paid much attention. But now, seeing him coming after her with empty hands, it wasn’t hard to realize that this guy was stalking her.

Displeased, Mo Bei pouted and turned her face directly toward the tall man behind her.

”You’ve been following me for so long. Aren’t you tired?!”

Luo Ke was slightly surprised, but it didn’t affect him much. He merely extended his hand and unceremoniously grabbed her arm.

Mo Bei raised her hand, immediately smashing a bag of frozen dumplings onto his face, then swiftly kicked him between his legs.

These movements were fluid and seamless, and extremely sudden—so much so that even Luo Ke couldn’t dodge and immediately crouched down in pain.

”Go back and tell the old man at our place, if he wants to capture someone in the future, at least get some professionals. It’s embarrassing!”

Bending down to pick up the fallen ingredients, Mo Bei straightened up and prepared to leave.

”Stop!” A cold, hard object pressed directly against the back of her head, and Luo Ke took a deep breath, standing up straight. ”Don’t test my patience.”

Turning her face, Mo Bei looked at the gun in his hand and merely frowned. ”Who exactly are you?”

If he was indeed sent by her father, he wouldn’t use a gun on her.

Luo Ke didn’t answer but instead raised his other hand, injecting a small syringe into the back of her head.

Pop!

The two bags of ingredients in Mo Bei’s hands fell straight to the ground, and her body limply collapsed into his arms.

Glancing at the ingredients on the ground, Luo Ke let out a sinister smile, turned around, and swiftly left with her, returning to the roadside where he stuffed the unconscious Mo Bei into a car. He quickly started the car and sped away.

Not far from the park, inside the complex, Jiao Yang raised his wrist and glanced at his watch.

It’s been almost an hour since that girl called. Why hasn’t she come over yet? Could she still be working overtime?

With a heart full of doubt, Jiao Yang directly dialed Mo Bei’s phone. It rang a few times, but no one answered. He then called the company, where the staff informed him that Mo Bei had already left long ago.

After hanging up the phone, Jiao Yang only furrowed his brow. Why hasn’t the girl arrived after so long?

While he was still in doubt, his phone rang with a call showing — Mo Bei.

”Xiao Bei, where are you?!” Jiao Yang quickly answered the call.

”She’s with me. If you don’t want anything to happen to her, it’s best not to let the others in your room know this call is from me!”

On the other end, Luo Ke’s voice was deep.

...

Good afternoon.
