After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Banning Lu Hao

Lying in the bathtub, she let the warm water gradually soak into her body. The soreness and fatigue seemed to fade away. After spending a good half hour there, she finally got up, dried off, and changed into a comfortable set of loungewear. She tidied up the bed sheets that she and he had left in disarray and replaced them with fresh ones.

Everything neatly arranged, she bent down to pick up the used linens and other items on her way downstairs, stuffing them into the washing machine.

Turning into the kitchen, she turned on the burner to heat up water, opened the cupboard to get a packet of instant noodles. Since she was eating alone, she didn’t even bother to prepare any vegetables or eggs.

In a short while, the noodles were cooked. She carried the bowl to the dining table outside. Before she could even pick up her chopsticks, she heard the door beside her lightly open.

Surprised, she turned her face to see Leng Zimo holding several sheets of music as he walked out of the piano room.

”You... You’re home?!” She got up from her chair in a fluster.

He was still wearing a bathrobe, with obvious redness in his eyes. One hand held the sheet music, and the other clasped a cigar. Could it be... that he had spent the whole night in the piano room?

Leng Zimo glanced at her, walked over, and sat down in the chair she had just vacated, casually tossing the sheet music in front of her.

”Master this!”

From between his fingers, pale blue smoke from the cigar wafted up: the chocolate-like scent she recognized.

So it wasn’t perfume—it was the scent of a cigar.

Taking a light breath, Luo Xiaoqian curiously picked up the sheet music on the table.

Printed on the sheet were the words ”White Moonlight”.

It was a love song by the Hong Kong and Taiwan singer Zhang Xinzhe, but on the original score, it seemed he had made some adjustments. The score was filled with marks and annotations, clearly modified several times.

”I’ve already chosen the song...”

”Sing this one!” His tone was commanding.

”But...” She had been practicing ”Before It’s Too Late” these past few days, and though she liked this song, she was far from as familiar with it as she was with ”Before It’s Too Late”.

Leng Zimo looked up, ”Either sing this one or drop out of the competition!”

Although she hadn’t had much interaction with him, Luo Xiaoqian knew he meant what he said.

Now, music was her only emotional support; she couldn’t afford to lose it. Moreover, she didn’t want to anger him again. Her body definitely couldn’t take his wrath right now.

So, she said.

”Fine, I’ll sing it!”

Putting down the cigar in the ashtray, Leng Zimo picked up the chopsticks from the bowl and began to eat unceremoniously.

Hey, those were her noodles, for goodness’ sake!

Forget it, who asked him to be the sponsor, the boss? She’d just cook another packet for herself.

”Go practice the piano!”

Before she could make her way to the kitchen, he had already spoken up again.

Was he finding new ways to torment her?

Luo Xiaoqian clenched her teeth and halted, casting a glance at the bowl he was rapidly finishing off. She pursed her lips and turned to enter the piano room.

The piano room was filled with a haze of smoke.

Damn it, how many cigars had he smoked? Had he been smoking here all night?!

Slamming the door shut with a thud, Luo Xiaoqian sat down at the piano in a huff.

”Tyrant, despot...”

He couldn’t hear her anyway, so she shouted the insults loudly.

After cursing, she felt somewhat relieved and finally turned her attention to the sheet music.

This piece was the work of the Japanese composing master Matsumoto Toshimasa, inspired by moonlight, poetic and plaintive. Although the piece seemed simple, it struck right at the heart. He dared to change such a piece?!

With a mixture of curiosity and skepticism, Luo Xiaoqian positioned the music, placed her hands on the piano keys, and began to play and sing according to the altered score.
