Medical Sage

Indeed, just as Yuan Kai had expected, when it came to the owner of the ”King of the World Black Cards,” even American Express dared not delay in the slightest. Upon receiving Chen Fei’s call and confirming his identity, they immediately contacted the US Department of State at top speed and began pressuring the United Kingdom in the most direct and forceful way possible. The British side, naturally, was both baffled and sent into a frenzy.

Before long, a call came through to the white man with the afro. The moment he saw the caller ID, he couldn’t help but shudder, his face a mess of panic and confusion.

”Rivado, do you have any fucking idea...” The moment he answered the phone, a relentless barrage of angry curses erupted from the earpiece.

”Yes, yes, yes, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I... I know...” The call came directly from the Royal Family. Naturally, the white man with the afro didn’t even have the courage to interrupt. He could only listen subserviently while silently thanking his lucky stars that he had let Chen Fei make that call earlier. Otherwise, if I had really arrested Chen Fei, I probably wouldn’t even know how I died.

A moment later, the man with the afro was finally done being reprimanded. With a wry smile and sweat beading on his forehead, he hung up the phone. He turned to Chen Fei and bowed deeply, saying, ”My apologies, esteemed sir. I truly was not aware of your identity. Please, forgive me...”

He was now dying of regret. He should have realized from the start that anyone who dared to look down on Mr. Yuan Kai of the Soria Group had to be an incredibly powerful figure. When titans of that caliber clash, what was a small fry like him doing getting involved? Was I trying to get myself killed? Fortunately, I reacted quickly this time, otherwise, it really would have been...

”It’s fine, it’s fine,” Chen Fei said, waving his hand with a smile, his eyes narrowed. ”But if you officers have no other business here, could you please leave? I’d like to have a few words alone with this Mr. Yuan Kai.”

”Of course, of course! We’ll leave right now, right away! Mr. Yuan, we’re truly sorry, the call came directly from the Royal Family; we had no choice... We’ll be on our way now. You two talk privately, talk privately.” As he spoke, the man with the afro and his subordinates scurried away without the slightest hesitation or pause.

After watching the police officer and his men hastily retreat, Chen Fei turned back to Yuan Kai, a mocking smile on his face. His gaze fell upon Yuan Kai’s sour expression as he said with a grin, ”I must say, the help you found doesn’t seem very effective... Did you really think a few petty police officers could do anything to me? Are you the fool, or do you take me for one!?”

”You, you...”

Although Young Master Chen’s tongue was as sharp as ever, Yuan Kai surprisingly didn’t curse back. Instead, his face darkened as he said with apprehension, ”Let me tell you, don’t think you can act so arrogant and unrestrained just because you have a Centurion Black Card from American Express! In the eyes of our Soria Group, even that is not a big deal.”

The minimum requirement for the Centurion Black Card issued by American Express was a net worth of at least one billion US dollars, but the Soria Group’s wealth was far more than one billion. It was probably tens of billions, even hundreds of billions! Naturally, they wouldn’t be intimidated by the owner of a Centurion Black Card.

But even though he thought that and said as much, he still didn’t dare to act as recklessly as before. The Soria Group might not be afraid, but that didn’t mean he, Yuan Kai, wasn’t! To put it bluntly and with some self-awareness, Yuan Kai didn’t even dare to dream of possessing a Centurion Black Card, so what qualifications or courage did he have to challenge Chen Fei, who already held one? Wasn’t that just courting death?

It was only then that he finally seemed to understand why the other party had the confidence to reject the Soria Group. It turned out they genuinely weren’t afraid!

”I don’t think having some stupid card makes a difference. I just simply don’t want to go with you to make a house call. It’s as simple as that,” Chen Fei remarked nonchalantly, pursing his lips with a sense of boredom as he watched Yuan Kai’s confidence evaporate.

”You... I will report this back to Mr. Liu Junyi exactly as it happened. I hope you don’t regret this,” Yuan Kai said in a last-ditch effort, gritting his teeth and invoking the name of Mr. Liu’s eldest son, Liu Junyi.

”Then go report it to him. If you have nothing else to say, get lost. Can you stop bothering me while I’m eating?” Chen Fei laughed dismissively and then impatiently shooed him away.

”You... Let’s go!” This time, Yuan Kai didn’t even dare to utter a threat and simply left in disgrace. What else could I do? Chen Fei had pulled out a Centurion Black Card; what right did I have to make threats? This matter can only be reported back to Mr. Liu Junyi for him to handle personally.

In a room at the Soria Group’s five-star hotel in London, the one closest to where Mr. Liu Huazheng was hospitalized, the brothers Liu Junyi and Liu Qianshan sat with extremely grim expressions. Cowering before them was none other than Yuan Kai, who had just returned in defeat from his encounter with Chen Fei.

”What did you say!? That motherf—”

BANG!

Upon hearing Yuan Kai’s embellished account, the quick-tempered Liu Qianshan flung the teacup in his hand against the wall, where it shattered into pieces.

He shot up to his feet and roared furiously, ”Damn it, he’s just some doctor, yet he dares to treat our Liu Family with such an attitude! Is he tired of living? Big Brother, why don’t we just send some people to kidnap him?”

In his mind, what status and influence did their Liu Family of the Soria Group have in the United Kingdom? Countless people were desperate for a chance to curry favor with them, chances they were never given because they simply weren’t worthy... And now, they had sent someone to personally invite him, yet this mere doctor dared to refuse them, refused to treat their father! This is outrageous! Does he want to declare war on the Soria Group!?

”Kidnap him? We could, but doing so could easily give others leverage against us,” Liu Junyi said, frowning at first before continuing, ”Yuan Kai, did you contact our people at the police station? Just have them arrest him and bring him here. Wouldn’t that solve the problem?”

”I did contact them, but...” Yuan Kai began, sweat trickling down his forehead.

”But what?” Liu Junyi pressed, his frown deepening.

”Mr. Liu Junyi, it seems that brat surnamed Chen’s identity isn’t so simple. I was planning to have the police arrest him and bring him here. The police were even there with me, but that kid made one phone call, and, and then...” Yuan Kai stammered.

”An extraordinary identity? He made a phone call?”

Hearing this, both Liu Junyi and Liu Qianshan frowned. The hot-tempered Liu Qianshan boomed, ”If you have something to say, spit it out! Can you please explain clearly what happened!?”

”Yes, yes...”

Yuan Kai flinched and quickly explained, ”It’s like this. That brat, Chen, appears to be a holder of the American Express Centurion Black Card. When I had the police move to arrest him, he called American Express directly. It threw the Foreign Ministry into chaos, and they called immediately to demand his release! So, it seems the card in his possession is real...”

”A Centurion Black Card?”

Hearing this, even Liu Junyi and Liu Qianshan’s expressions changed slightly, taken aback by this unexpected development.

Both brothers also possessed a Centurion Black Card, issued by American Express, but they had never imagined that Chen Fei, whom they assumed was just a minor doctor, could also own such a prestigious card.

And if that’s true, then he really does have the right to disregard the Liu Family of the Soria Group. There’s no reason he would be obligated to treat our father...

At this thought, the faces of both brothers turned ugly.

After a moment, Liu Qianshan couldn’t hold back any longer. ”Big Brother, what do we do now?” The world’s top experts in internal medicine, cardiology, and neurology, Wilser and Doctor George, are completely stumped by Father’s condition. That Chen fellow is our only hope, but now...

”What do we do... Contact the embassy immediately! Have them step in!” Liu Junyi was silent for a long moment before his eyes suddenly flashed, and his tone became sharp.

”The embassy? Big Brother, you mean our Huaxia’s embassy? But...” Liu Qianshan was confused, unable to grasp his brother’s logic. If that kid really has a Centurion Black Card, even the embassy can’t force him to do anything, right?

”We’ve most likely been bluffed by that brat. The situation probably isn’t what you think,” Liu Junyi said with a faint, confident smile.

”Bluffed? Big Brother, can you stop being so cryptic? What do you mean?” Liu Qianshan asked impatiently.

”It’s quite simple. Did you forget what Doctor George said back in the hospital room?”

Liu Junyi’s eyes gleamed with ’wisdom’ as he explained calmly, ”If I’m not mistaken, he received that card as an invitation from Earl Pierce of the Saint Laurent Group in Italy. The Earl used his own super-VIP status with American Express to arrange it as a repayment for the life-saving grace of treating his wife. Otherwise, how could a mere doctor obtain such a card? Is he even qualified?”

In his eyes, the very profession of ’doctor’ already set a hard limit. That young man, Chen, could never have obtained a Centurion Black Card from American Express on his own merits. A mere doctor, no matter how skilled, how much money could he possibly make? Could he earn even a tenth of a billion US dollars in his lifetime?

The thought filled him with a sense of absolute control. He then sneered, ”The embassy is filled with our Liu Family’s people! As long as that Chen fellow is still a person of Huaxia and hasn’t considered emigrating, he will behave and obey! As for American Express... I’ll personally give them a call later. I assume they wouldn’t disrespect our Soria Group over a mere invited member, would they?”

As for Earl Pierce of the Saint Laurent Group, the debt of gratitude has already been repaid. Why would he get involved in such trivial matters now? Besides, the Soria Group is no pushover. Why would the Earl choose to disrespect us for the sake of a mere doctor?
