Medical Sage

”Boss Hua, you agree? Good, that’s more like it. We should be making money together, so why make things so tense? Here, take this contract and look it over. If there are no issues, just sign it and add your fingerprint,” said Zhou Zhengxu, a sneer instantly spreading across his face as he casually tossed over a contract, speaking as if it were a matter of course.

A contract?

Upon hearing this, Hua Ming’s expression changed, but he still obediently took the contract to look it over. However, as he unrolled it and read it carefully, his face gradually turned exceptionally ugly.

Because this contract actually stated they wanted to buy seventy percent of his Jinnan Jewelry’s shares for one million yuan!? How was this any different from outright robbery?

His eyelids twitched, and he forced a smile. ”Young Master Zheng, Young Master Zhou, is this contract perhaps a bit...”

His Jinnan Jewelry was worth close to one hundred million, right? But now, they wanted to buy seventy percent of the shares for a mere one million. Wasn’t this going too far? What an outrageous demand!

Seeing such an abhorrent and one-sided contract, even though Hua Ming had been mentally prepared to compromise, he couldn’t suppress the flare of anger and resentment in his heart.

Did they really think he, Hua Ming, was so easy to bully? If it came down to it, he would just give up the jewelry business and change careers! Tch! What is this nonsense? They’re bullying people too much!

”Boss Hua, watch your tone! Do you have any idea who you’re talking to!?” Zhou Zhengxu’s expression turned fierce as he saw Hua Ming dare to question their contract. He continued viciously, ”Let me tell you, Boss Hua! Leaving everything else aside, isn’t the name of Young Master Zheng Zhengbin worth seventy percent of your lousy jewelry shop? Don’t push your luck!”

”Boss Hua, I’m a straightforward person,” Zheng Zhengbin finally chimed in, his face full of scorn and impatience. ”If you’re really not willing, just say so now, and I, Zheng Zhengbin, will turn around and leave without another word. Otherwise, hurry up and sign the contract and add your fingerprint. I don’t have time to waste dawdling with you, understand?”

Given his status as Zheng Zhengbin, Young Master Zheng, his condescending to even look at this shoddy jewelry shop was already doing Hua Ming a favor. And yet, this man was still procrastinating and making excuses. Who did he think he was!? Completely overestimating his own abilities!

”It’s not that, Young Master Zheng, I, I...” Seeing this, Hua Ming’s face turned extremely ugly and panicked. He was helpless. The two words ’Zheng Family’ pressed down on him like a mountain, making it hard to breathe. So even now, despite how outrageous they were being, he didn’t dare turn hostile.

But there was no way he could bring himself to sign such a contract.

His gaze flickered as he thought about it, and he slowly said, ”Young Master Zheng, Young Master Zhou, the jewelry shop isn’t entirely mine right now. How about you give me some time? I need to discuss this with the other shareholders.”

Clearly, he was now planning to use a delaying tactic to buy time to seek help. Those two spoiled brats were going too far with such a lion’s-maw demand; he really couldn’t stomach it.

”The jewelry shop isn’t solely yours?” Hearing this, both Zheng Zhengbin and Zhou Zhengxu frowned slightly, surprised by his words. According to their prior investigation, didn’t this shoddy jewelry shop lack any backer or support? But now...

But then, a cold sneer appeared on Young Master Zheng Zhengbin’s arrogant face. He casually lit a cigarette, took a drag, and then theatrically blew out a smoke ring before saying in a commanding tone, ”Boss Hua, don’t say I, Zheng Zhengbin, didn’t give you a chance. Three minutes. You have three minutes to call for help. I’d love to see who in this entire Jiangnan Province dares to refuse me, Zheng Zhengbin! Hmph!” He let out another arrogant scoff, brimming with confidence.

It couldn’t be helped. At least on his own turf in Jiangnan, Young Master Zheng Zhengbin’s background could indeed be described as heaven-defying. Apart from the very few whose connections reached the top provincial officials, he, Zheng Zhengbin, feared no one. That’s why he was so confident in letting Hua Ming make the call. Clearly, Young Master Zheng Zhengbin had done this sort of thing many times before. This was the source of his confidence—his background and power.

”Boss Hua is going to make a call? Then hurry up,” Zhou Zhengxu, the Dog Head Military Advisor, said with a jeer, feeling reassured by his backer’s unshakeable confidence. ”Young Master Zheng, don’t you think some people are truly brainless? At his level, does he really think he’s something special, capable of reaching someone more powerful and of a higher status than you? He should take a long, hard look at himself. Overestimating his abilities and not knowing what’s good for him.” The scorn and disdain in his voice were unmistakable.

”That’s not necessarily true. What if Boss Hua really does know some powerful figure? It’s not entirely impossible...” Zheng Zhengbin started mockingly, but his tone suddenly turned icy. ”Boss Hua, why are you still standing there in a daze? Go make your call. Remember, you only have three minutes. If I, Zheng Zhengbin, don’t hear a satisfactory answer in three minutes, then I’m sorry, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out. Hmph!”

Hearing such belittling and humiliating words, Hua Ming’s somewhat wrinkled face couldn’t help but flush red. Yet he still managed to suppress his anger. Taking out his phone, he began to back away while forcing a smile. ”Then, Young Master Zheng, Young Master Zhou, I’ll excuse myself for a moment to make a call. Please wait just a moment.” He then walked several meters away.

He didn’t actually have Chen Fei’s number, but his son had given it to him before leaving. With a sweaty palm, he dialed the number.

「Meanwhile」

Due to a flight delay, our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was feeling quite depressed and conflicted, as he still hadn’t boarded his plane. Just then, his phone rang.

A strange number? Holding the phone, Chen Fei paused. The caller ID was showing an unknown number. A wrong number? he wondered, but then his eyes fell on the location displayed for the number: Northern Mountain City. A number from Northern Mountain?

Although still puzzled, our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, answered the call.

Once it connected, a voice that was clearly anxious, yet somewhat sheepish and deliberately low, came through the receiver. ”Hello, is this Chen Fei? Um, I’m Hua Zhinan’s father. My name is Hua Ming.”

”Hua Zhinan’s father?” Chen Fei was stunned for a moment, then his tone immediately brightened. ”Uncle Hua, hello. I’m Chen Fei. You can just call me Little Chen. Is everything alright?” He truly hadn’t expected the call to be from Slickhead’s father. But that tone of voice... could something have happened!?

”Um, er, I... Little Chen, I’m so sorry to bother you, but I have a bit of a problem I was hoping you could help with. It’s just... it’s just...” It was clear Hua Ming didn’t know how to put it into words.

”Uncle Hua, don’t worry, take your time. Just tell me what’s wrong. Slickhead and I are great friends. No matter what it is, I’ll definitely help!” Chen Fei said without a moment’s hesitation. Given his relationship with Slickhead, this promise came from the heart. And clearly, our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was now more than qualified to make such a statement.

”Alright then. Little Chen, thank you so much. I’ll be direct.” Hearing Chen Fei’s sincere words, Hua Ming felt inexplicably calmer. He sighed helplessly, ”Well, it’s like this, Little Chen... Someone wants to buy a stake in our family’s Jinnan Jewelry, but... but...”

”Someone wants to buy a stake in your family’s Jinnan Jewelry?” Chen Fei’s brow furrowed, and he immediately asked, ”Uncle Hua, is someone trying to make an outrageous demand and use their power to bully you? Are they trying to take advantage of your family’s jewelry store?”

He’d encountered this sort of thing many times, so it was nothing new. At the same time, he finally understood why Slickhead’s father had called him, and why his voice was so full of anxiety and panic. So another blind fool had come knocking!?

”Yes, sigh...” Seeing that Chen Fei understood immediately, Hua Ming decided to just lay it all out. He sighed lightly and said, ”The other party is a spoiled son from the Zheng Family. His father is the deputy director of the Provincial Bureau of Industry and Commerce. They’re at our Jade Carving Factory right now, and right off the bat, they demanded to buy seventy percent of Jinnan Jewelry’s shares for one million. You tell me what I’m supposed to do...”

”One million for seventy percent of Jinnan Jewelry’s shares? That’s robbery!” Even our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, couldn’t help but get angry. That was a lion’s-maw demand of absurd proportions! And to do it to his brother Slickhead’s father... how could he tolerate it?

”Uncle Hua, I understand the situation.” His eyes flashed with a cold glint before his tone became suddenly calm. ”Don’t worry about this. From now on, you can completely ignore anyone you aren’t interested in or satisfied with.”

He said it as if discussing a trivial matter.

Although he spoke calmly, Hua Ming, on the other end of the line, felt his heart pound with trepidation. It couldn’t be helped; our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, sounded far too confident. But the other party had the backing of the Zheng Family! Would it really be alright?
