Medical Sage

London, United Kingdom. Within the most exclusive private hospital owned by the Soria Group, one of the nation’s ten wealthiest consortiums, several men in sharp black suits stood guard outside a door, each with a stern expression. Inside the room, a number of doctors of various ethnicities, all in white coats, looked at a patient unconscious on the hospital bed, their brows furrowed with concern.

Among them was none other than Italy’s top cardiovascular specialist, George Anthony Lias, whom Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, had briefly encountered at the airport. Also present was the big boss of the United Kingdom’s Carl Group, Pierro Carl.

Besides these two, several other individuals stood out, particularly two middle-aged men of East Asian descent in their forties or fifties.

Elder Liu Huazheng, the head of the Liu Family of the Soria Group, had two sons: the elder, Liu Junyi, and the younger, Liu Qianshan. The two middle-aged East Asian men were clearly them.

At that moment, George Anthony Lias was examining Elder Liu Huazheng on the bed, his brow deeply furrowed. Meanwhile, in another corner of the room, a blond-haired, blue-eyed foreigner with a prominent nose was also holding a medical report, his brows just as deeply furrowed.

As two of the world’s top experts in cardiovascular diseases and brain disorders respectively, George Anthony Lias and the blond foreigner, seemed to be facing a difficult challenge.

”Wilser...”

The next moment, George Anthony Lias stopped his examination and turned his gaze to the blond, blue-eyed foreigner.

But he only managed to call out his name before the latter, known as Wilser, set down the medical report and shook his head. Instantly, the expressions of Elder Liu’s eldest son, Liu Junyi, and his second son, Liu Qianshan, changed as a sense of gloom settled in their hearts.

”Doctor Wilser, Doctor George, can you please tell us what exactly is wrong with my father?” Elder Liu’s second son, Liu Qianshan, could not hold back any longer and stepped forward to ask, his expression tense.

George Anthony Lias was one of the world’s foremost experts in heart and cardiovascular diseases, renowned globally and prominent in his field. Aside from the two Nobel Prize winners, he was perhaps ’the most formidable’ in this area.

Wilser Pefen was similarly ranked among the world’s top experts in brain and neurological disorders. He, too, had a distinguished reputation worldwide, and his status within their circle was akin to George’s in the heart and cardiovascular domain.

Because the strange illness that had befallen their father, Elder Liu Huazheng, was so bizarre, they, as laymen, did not understand it, nor did they know where to start. Therefore, they had no choice but to pay a hefty price to bring in these two top doctors. Nightmares—that should be a brain-related issue, right? And the cardiac convulsions and brief stops after waking up—that should be a heart problem, right?

”Mr. Liu, I’m sorry… let’s step outside to talk,” Wilser Pefen replied, causing both of Elder Liu’s sons to grow even more anxious.

They followed Wilser Pefen and George Anthony Lias out of the hospital room.

”Elder Liu’s condition is not good.”

Wilser Pefen sighed and spoke slowly to Elder Liu’s two sons. ”To date, I haven’t been able to find the root cause of Mr. Liu’s peculiar illness. However, his brain has already shown significant atrophy. If this continues, Mr. Liu might enter a vegetative state.”

”A vegetative state?!” At this, Elder Liu’s two sons were greatly startled, their expressions immediately turning panicked and grim.

Their father, Elder Liu Huazheng, was the pillar of their Liu Family of the Soria Group. If he truly became vegetative, the Soria Group would suffer a huge blow. What would happen to their family then?

As the thought crossed his mind, Elder Liu’s eldest son, Liu Junyi, couldn’t help but ask George, ”Doctor George, do you have any clues? Or a solution?”

”I’m sorry, Mr. Liu. I’m also at a loss,” George Anthony Lias immediately replied with a shake of his head and a wry smile. ”Although Elder Liu’s heart does seem to have some issues, it’s likely just age-related myocardial weakness and a decline in cardiac function... This should be normal for someone in Elder Liu’s age range.”

”So what are we supposed to do now? We can’t just let it be, can we? Hey, aren’t you two supposed to be great doctors? Don’t you have any solution at all?” Elder Liu’s second son, Liu Qianshan, became agitated and demanded.

Hearing this, both Wilser Pefen and George Anthony Lias looked slightly uncomfortable. They were doctors, yes, but not gods; how could they cure every disease? But given their client’s status, they could not lash out and had to endure it.

”Qianshan, shut up!”

Fortunately, Liu Junyi, the eldest son, was a reasonable man and remained composed.

He first scolded his younger brother, then turned to the two doctors with a sincere plea. ”Doctor Wilser, Doctor George, no matter what, please think of a way to treat my father’s illness. Our Soria Group cannot afford to lose him! Rest assured, as long as you can cure my father, any reward or remuneration is on the table.”

Under normal circumstances, hearing such words from one of the heirs of the mighty Soria Group would have been enough to excite even men of Wilser and George’s stature. But at that moment, they could only offer a bitter smile.

”Mr. Liu, it’s not that we don’t want to help, but... we really have no clue. Elder Liu’s condition is too peculiar. I don’t know where to begin,” Wilser said.

Hearing this, Liu Junyi’s expression stiffened. His gaze shifted back to George, but the latter could only shake his head in regret.

”Damn it!”

BANG!

Seeing this, Elder Liu’s second son punched the wall, a look of agony in his eyes.

No solution? Does that mean we can do nothing but wait for him to die?

”The honorable Mr. Liu Junyi and Mr. Liu Qianshan, perhaps I have a method we could try.” At this moment, Pierro Carl, who had been standing silently in the room, suddenly spoke up.

”What method? Speak quickly!” Liu Qianshan immediately urged, desperate.

Pierro Carl straightened up and slowly let his gaze fall on George. ”We happened to run into a friend of Doctor George’s at the airport. According to Doctor George, his friend’s medical skills are incredible! If we could get him to treat Mr. Liu, perhaps it’s possible...”

”Really!?”

Hearing this, the faces of both Liu Qianshan and his older brother Liu Junyi lit up with surprise. Liu Junyi raised his voice, ”Doctor George, where is your friend now? Is he in London? If so, I’ll send someone to pick him up immediately.”

Clearly, the two brothers hadn’t even considered whether this so-called friend of Doctor George would be willing to treat their father. They just jumped to ”send someone to pick him up,” and in a commanding tone at that. This put George in a difficult position, and he even began to silently resent Pierro.

Of course, he knew the friend Pierro mentioned was none other than Chen Fei, Mr. Chen, whom they had encountered at the airport. But Mr. Chen had already made it clear he wasn’t interested. For Pierro to bring it up now was just making things difficult for him. Damn it, if I had known it would be like this, I never should have come on this trip to the United Kingdom...

”Doctor George, what’s wrong?” Noticing that George Anthony Lias wasn’t responding and instead showed a look of hesitation and difficulty, Liu Junyi, who was no fool, frowned. His expression darkened as he spoke coldly.

What is the meaning of this!? Could it be that this supposed friend of George Anthony Lias is unwilling to treat someone for the Liu Family of the Soria Group? Forget London—in all of Europe, there aren’t many doctors who would dare to put on such airs in front of us. He’s just a doctor. Who does he think he is?

”Doctor George, call your friend immediately and tell him to come treat my father for the Soria Group. Say that I, Liu Junyi, sent for him.” Then, the eldest son spoke in a tone that brooked no argument, his gaze toward George turning even colder.

He had no intention of being polite to those who didn’t know their place. After all, he was Liu Junyi, a man of immense status.

”Mr. Liu Junyi, I...”

Hearing that icy tone, George Anthony Lias grew panicked. But in the end, he still shook his head and said, ”I’m sorry, Mr. Liu Junyi. I don’t have Mr. Chen’s contact information, so I have no way to reach him.”

”What did you say... You said Mr. Chen? His surname is Chen? Could he be...” Liu Junyi was initially furious, but then he caught the surname George mentioned. Chen? Could he be one of the people of Huaxia?

Although the Liu Family of Soria were British citizens, their hearts were still tied to the land of Huaxia.

”Yes, Mr. Chen is indeed from Huaxia of the East! He is an incredibly, incredibly, incredibly skilled practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. However, I have only met him once, and we didn’t get along very well at the time. So, I don’t have his contact information. My apologies, Mr. Liu Junyi,” George Anthony Lias said, nodding and answering truthfully.

”Where did you last see him?” Liu Junyi’s brow furrowed deeply as he pressed on.

”Last time?”

George glanced at Liu Junyi with a strange look in his eyes before finally saying, ”I last saw Mr. Chen in Florence, Italy. At that time, he cured the strange illness of Miss Luo Sha, the wife of Pierce Earl of the Saint Laurent Group, Italy. He is her savior.” Upon hearing this, the expressions of the two Liu brothers changed dramatically.

”Pierce Earl of the Saint Laurent Group!?”
