Under normal circumstances, even if someone like him, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, had a bit of a temper, he wouldn’t get angry over not being able to check into this five-star hotel early. At most, he’d just be a bit dejected. Rules were rules, after all, and it was understandable for an establishment to enforce them without showing favoritism. But this current situation? What the hell was this?

Both parties were checking in, and both were for discounted rooms. The only difference was that one was a Huaxia national with a Huaxia passport, while the other was an American with an American passport. Yet the hotel receptionist hadn’t even bothered to say, ”Check-in is in half an hour, after three p.m.” She just handed the room key directly to the American. What was that supposed to mean? Was she looking down on them?

Fucking hell. It’s true that when people of Huaxia travel abroad, especially to developed countries like the United Kingdom, France, and Japan, it’s common to encounter this kind of disdain and contempt. In the eyes of many of his compatriots, this is even considered ’normal’! But in Chen Fei’s eyes, it was anything but normal.

He was only twenty-seven years old! He was in the prime of his life, full of vigor and with a defiant streak in his bones. How could he tolerate this kind of unfair, discriminatory treatment? Are your American daddies that amazing, or are you fucking Brits just that arrogant?

Fuck!

”Heh!”

Hearing Chen Fei’s fluent and cold questioning, the blonde receptionist was slightly surprised. But her heavily made-up face quickly hardened, and she shot him a look as if he were a country bumpkin who didn’t understand the rules. With an extremely stiff smile, she said, ”I’m sorry, sir. Please don’t disrupt my work, okay?”

Clearly, in her eyes, she was a legal citizen of a developed country—London, United Kingdom—while Chen Fei and Feng Lu were just country folk from Huaxia of the East. And now she was being questioned by these mere ’country bumpkins.’ It really got under her skin, and she even felt that her identity as a Londoner had been insulted. If it weren’t for the fact that she was on duty at a five-star hotel with strict rules against scolding guests, she probably would have already lost her temper. Humph, country bumpkins will be country bumpkins. Utterly lacking in manners and self-awareness! People from a developing country actually daring to fantasize about enjoying the same treatment and privileges as citizens from a developed nation—especially a superpower like Great America? They simply don’t know their own level. Truly overestimating themselves!

The American man obviously felt the same way. A sneer touched his lips as he glanced at Chen Fei, then he lifted his chin and headed toward the hotel interior with his key.

Clearly, he thought the blonde receptionist had done the right thing. The audacity of a mere yellow monkey to expect the same treatment as a citizen of Great America? How naive! Don’t you know your country’s rank? And what rank are you, a yellow monkey? Heh, ’country folk’ are all the same...

”Miss, it seems you aren’t planning to give me an explanation, are you?” Just then, the American heard Chen Fei’s voice from behind him—calm, yet strangely unsettling. For some reason, he found himself unable to move.

”Explanation? I’m sorry, sir, I don’t understand what you mean. But do you even know where you are? Causing a scene here?” The blonde receptionist clearly hadn’t expected a yellow-skinned ’country bumpkin’ like Chen Fei to dare rebuke her. Anger flared within her, and her face turned cold as she spoke. ”Let me say it one last time. I’m sorry, sir, but your check-in time has not yet arrived. Please wait patiently.”

”Causing a scene?” Hearing this, even if Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, really didn’t want to get angry, he was now finding it hard to hold back.

So, this Brit really looks down on people of Huaxia from the bottom of her heart? Thinks they don’t even deserve an explanation?

”Or what? This is the Park Tower Knight Hotel. The guests who stay here are all members of the upper class from around the world!” the receptionist said, her tone clearly becoming harsher and full of impatience. ”Sir, I advise you, if you don’t want to be looked down upon by them, or further tarnish the already terrible international reputation of Huaxia’s people, then please wait patiently. I said, your check-in time has not yet arrived.”

Obviously, she simply couldn’t fathom how two country bumpkins from a developing nation had the gall to cause a scene at their Park Tower Knight Hotel. Such poor class!

”Is there a manager in the lobby? Or is there anyone here with some authority?” Without warning, an expressionless Chen Fei pulled one hundred British Pounds from his wallet. He waved it at a security guard not far away, then placed it on the counter in front of the other receptionists beside the blonde woman. ”If any of you can get your hotel manager to come here, this is yours. Any takers?” he called out loudly. The action made the blonde receptionist’s expression change dramatically.

”What are you doing? Are you trying to cause more trouble? Oh, my God, so this is the quality of you people from Huaxia? It’s terrible!” the blonde receptionist screeched, her face suddenly turning vile. ”What are you all standing around for? Get them out of here! Who do you think you are? Look where you are! Do you really think our Park Tower Knight Hotel’s manager is someone you can see just because you want to?” Despite her shouting, a hint of panic flickered in her eyes.

”Hey, Chen Fei, what are you doing?” Seeing the commotion, Feng Lu rushed over in a panic to intervene. ”It’s just half an hour. We can wait. This is London, United Kingdom. Why are you being so impulsive?”

There was no helping it. Being abroad wasn’t like being back home, where people often bent over backward for foreigners but not their own kind. Because of that, their compatriots usually kept an extremely low profile when traveling. Enduring a small grievance was better than making a scene. What if they were the ones who ended up suffering for it? What then?

”I’m not being impulsive. I just want to see if this hotel is truly so unwelcoming to guests from Huaxia,” Chen Fei replied, shaking his head.

A person can be low-key, but they can’t be spineless. Otherwise, what’s the difference between you and a worthless coward?

His gaze then fell on the hesitant security guards and the other receptionists, who also looked uncertain. He pulled out another nine hundred British Pounds from his wallet and said coolly, ”Whoever is willing to fetch the manager of this hotel, this one thousand pounds is theirs.”

WOW!

Instantly, a stir went through the crowd, and many people stared at Chen Fei with peculiar expressions.

Admittedly, those who could afford a five-star hotel generally had some financial means, so one thousand pounds wasn’t an astronomical sum to them. But to see someone offer such a large reward just to have someone fetch a manager was still quite shocking. It was like offering ten thousand yuan for an ice cream back home. Because of this, the looks of ridicule many had been giving Chen Fei completely changed. Now, they felt a bit of sympathy for the blonde receptionist. Even the dimmest among them could now see that Chen Fei was no ordinary person from Huaxia. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be throwing around one thousand pounds so recklessly. He was certainly far above a mere front desk clerk.

Just because you work at a five-star hotel, at the lowest-level position of a receptionist, you think you’re rich and superior enough to look down on people?

The security guards and other receptionists were clearly stunned by Chen Fei’s move. They understood that letting this scene escalate would have a negative impact. Besides, even if management arrived, the blonde receptionist was clearly in the wrong. At that thought, some of them considered intervening. It wasn’t that they didn’t want the one thousand pounds. First, they were colleagues and didn’t want to create a tense work relationship. Second, the blonde receptionist had connections in the hotel, and they couldn’t afford to provoke her.

”Esteemed sir, please, put your money away. I’ll handle your check-in procedure right now. How does that sound?” another receptionist, a long-haired woman with wheat-colored skin standing next to the blonde, said with a strained smile, all while shooting the blonde a meaningful look.

Hearing this, a flash of anger crossed the blonde receptionist’s face, but this time, she kept her mouth shut. She wasn’t an idiot. She knew that someone who could casually toss around one thousand pounds was no ordinary person. More importantly, this man from Huaxia was being too assertive, and she was undeniably in the wrong. If this blew up and she lost her job, what would she do? Although she had connections, if her superiors found out she was discriminating against guests, it would be a very serious matter. The more high-end the hotel, the more they abhorred such behavior. If a problem like this was exposed and magnified, the punishment would be extremely severe.

”Hey, what are you spacing out for? Put the money away so we can…” Seeing things calm down, Feng Lu was somewhat relieved and urged Chen Fei to pocket the cash so they could get checked in. But Chen Fei’s next move made her words catch in her throat. Her jaw dropped, and she stared in astonishment.

Chen Fei first gave her an expressionless shake of his head. Then, he casually took a pitch-black card from his wallet, placed it on the counter, and said indifferently, ”Whoever is willing to fetch the manager of this hotel, I’ll swipe ten thousand British pounds for them.” The card he had just produced was the same Centurion Black Card he had used once before at Galaxy Macau.

He hadn’t exchanged that many British pounds for his trip to the United Kingdom, and his domestic bank cards didn’t seem to work here, so he had no choice but to use this one. This card could be swiped for any amount.

”T-Ten thousand pounds?!”

When Chen Fei said this, many people in the lobby gasped in shock. Even the few wealthy individuals present couldn’t help but look at him with a new sense of intrigue, their sympathy for the blonde receptionist growing.

It seems this man from Huaxia has no intention of letting this go. Ten thousand pounds… he’s really willing to spend it. What a grand gesture…
