Medical Sage

”Arrogant due to my talent, and unappreciative of a good thing when I see it?”

Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was already in a worse mood than usual because of the earlier incident at the hotel. Now, running into an idiot like this naturally made him even more irritated. He lifted his head, his pitch-black, lucid eyes sweeping coldly over the man. With a dull THUD, he placed his fork on the table. ”I think you’ve misunderstood something, haven’t you? Although I am a doctor, I’m under no obligation to go and treat someone for you.”

”You dare disrespect the Liu Family of the Soria Group? Do you have a death wish!?” Yuan Kai’s face darkened as he spoke icily.

”Disrespect? Why should I show you any, just for an idiot like you?” Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, stared back at him as if he were looking at a fool, a faint, mocking smile gracing his lips. If only the other party’s ordinary status wasn’t so far beneath him that it wasn’t even worth getting angry over... heh heh...

”What did you say!?” Yuan Kai’s face twitched, his expression contorted with rage.

He clearly never expected this. He had invoked the prestigious name of the Soria Group and even ’deigned’ to come and ask in person. Yet, this insignificant doctor was still so unappreciative and arrogant. From his words, it was as if he held no regard for Yuan Kai whatsoever, nor for the Soria Group behind him! How dare he refuse again and again, and even insult him by calling him an idiot!?

”You little...”

His face began to twitch uncontrollably, as if he was about to explode with anger and start cursing. But in the end, he restrained himself. With a sinister expression, he took out a check and said, ”This is for one million British Pounds. If you go treat Mr. Liu of our Soria Group, this check is yours, regardless of the outcome. Young man, I’ll advise you one last time. You’re just a small-time doctor, and so young. How much can you possibly make in a year? You probably couldn’t earn this much in your entire lifetime, could you?”

”One million British Pounds? What a grand gesture.” Upon hearing this, Chen Fei’s eyes darkened and slowly narrowed into a cold glare.

He already had a low opinion of this idiot, and now the man was trying to throw money at him? It only soured his mood further.

”So, what do you say? You can drop the act. Once converted to RMB, one million British Pounds is enough for you to buy a house in the capital, Beijing. Alright, let’s go. Mr. Liu Junyi and Mr. Liu Qianshan are waiting at our headquarters for you to treat Mr. Liu,” Yuan Kai said, accustomed to this sort of thing. Throwing money around gave him a sense of superiority. He stared at Chen Fei with a cold, mocking expression, as if he could already picture him snatching the check, stuffing it in his pocket, and obediently following along.

Seeing this, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was so irritated he actually laughed. It seemed he’d been pelted with money like this several times now. One million British Pounds? It sounded like a lot, but if this idiot knew that he could summon tens or even hundreds of billions with a single phone call, he wondered if the man would still be foolish enough to try and buy him. To put it bluntly, if this amount of money were thrown at his feet, he probably couldn’t even be bothered to pick it up. With his current Cultivation Level and status, what significance did worldly money hold for him? It was just a string of numbers. He could have as much as he wanted, whenever he wanted.

”One million British Pounds? So that’s all your boss’s life is worth to you?” Chen Fei casually took the check, glanced at it, and then chuckled.

”What’s that supposed to mean? ’That’s all’? Do you have any idea that the amount you’re dismissing is more than you could likely earn in your entire lifetime? Oh, I get it. You’re insatiable. You want to demand an even bigger piece, trying to shake down the Soria Group?”

Yuan Kai’s grim expression suddenly broke into a smile. He looked down on Chen Fei from his self-perceived lofty position and said with disdain, ”You want money? That’s easy. As long as you cure Mr. Liu of our Soria Group, forget one million British Pounds—three million, five million, or even ten million isn’t out of the question! You should be well aware that the Soria Group does not lack money.”

He was now convinced that Chen Fei had ’yielded’ and was simply trying to greedily angle for more money. And for the Soria Group, was anything that could be solved with money really a problem?

But the contemptuous sneer on his face didn’t last for even half a second before his expression changed dramatically.

”The Soria Group may not be short on cash, but neither am I. Why don’t you take this money and go buy yourself a house back in the Capital City?” Chen Fei tossed the one-million-pound check back as if it were a scrap of paper. The action instantly wiped the contemptuous smirk right off Yuan Kai’s face. His expression froze, then turned darker and uglier than the bottom of a pot.

”You little bastard, aren’t you going too far!?”

The expression on Yuan Kai’s face twisted into something ferocious. ”Do you understand what you’re doing right now!?” he roared. ”Didn’t I already tell you? As long as you cure Mr. Liu of our Soria Group, we can give you not just one million, but three million, five million, or even ten million British Pounds!” He still thought Chen Fei just felt the money wasn’t enough.

”Wow, ten million British Pounds! That’s a lot! But do you know what my current consultation fee is?” Chen Fei exclaimed with theatrical exaggeration, the corners of his mouth curling into a smirk.

”How much?” Yuan Kai couldn’t help but ask.

”Ten billion!” Chen Fei answered, his eyes crinkling into a smile.

Instantly, Yuan Kai’s face went rigid. It then contorted with rage as he glared at Chen Fei and yelled, ”Ten billion? RMB? Are you joking with me?” Ten billion RMB for a single consultation? Who the hell does he think he is!? He couldn’t possibly believe that was Chen Fei’s real fee. This was, of course, something Chen Fei had just decided on the spot, which was why Yuan Kai was convinced the little bastard was just messing with him.

”RMB?”

But upon hearing this, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, actually shook his head. With a mocking expression that wasn’t quite a smile, he said, ”This is Europe. What use do I have for RMB? I was talking about Euros. My current fee for a single consultation is ten billion. Euros!”

”You... you... what did you say!?” Yuan Kai stared at Chen Fei, his eyes bulging with ferocious disbelief. He never expected to hear such an ’outrageous’ demand. Of course, he didn’t believe for a second that Chen Fei’s fee was actually ten billion Euros. He was certain that Chen Fei was just mocking him and, by extension, blatantly rejecting him! Rejecting the Soria Group.

When had Yuan Kai ever met such an ’ignorant’ little bastard who dared to toy with him and refuse the Soria Group’s request to treat Mr. Liu!? It was simply preposterous, a complete lack of respect for them!

”You little bastard, do you have any idea what you’re saying!? Do you really want to make an enemy of the Soria Group? Is this your refusal?”

At that thought, his expression finally turned completely vile, twisted and ferocious. He stared daggers at Chen Fei and spat out word by word, ”I’m telling you, this is the United Kingdom, the Soria Group’s territory! If you’re really looking to die, the Soria Group would be more than happy to oblige!”

”Heh...”

Chen Fei just chuckled noncommittally and said lightly, ”So not treating someone for you is a life-or-death matter now? Fine. I, Chen Fei, refuse to treat him. Why don’t you come and try to make me?”

”Mr. Yuan, why waste so many words on this ungrateful, ignorant punk? Let’s just take him away,” a bodyguard standing to the side finally said in a cold voice.

”Take him!” Hearing this, Yuan Kai couldn’t be bothered with any more talk. His voice was glacial. He hadn’t wanted to take Chen Fei by force before, fearing the man would harbor resentment and not do his best when treating Mr. Liu. But now... it was better to just grab him first and worry about the rest later.

”I suggest you stay away from me. Otherwise, it’ll cost you an arm,” Chen Fei said, his voice flat and cold, with a tone that was somehow chilling.

He’d seen this kind of nonsense so many times that, frankly, he couldn’t be bothered to get angry, let alone make a move. But if these fools who couldn’t see reason wanted to make the first move, then they couldn’t blame him for being merciless. What were a few ordinary bodyguards to him? No different than ants.

”An arm? Damn, you’re pretty arrogant, aren’t you!? I’d like to see how you... AHH! My arm! My... my arm!” The bodyguard who had spoken first didn’t understand. ’An arm?’ What about an arm? It took him a moment to realize Chen Fei was threatening to take *his* arm. A disdainful smirk spread across his face as he gestured for his subordinates to surround and apprehend Chen Fei.

But just then, before he could even process what was happening, his vision blurred. An excruciating, bone-deep pain surged through his right arm like a tidal wave, forcing a scream from his throat.

Not only that, but his entire body was sent flying as if struck by a tremendous force. He crashed onto a nearby dining table with a cacophony of shattering wood and porcelain. The table and chairs splintered into a heap on the floor.

HISS!

Yuan Kai and the other bodyguards, who hadn’t even had a chance to move, were stunned. They couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath of cold air.

When they saw the bodyguard on the ground, his right arm twisted like a pretzel, the sight alone was painful to look at. A chill ran down their spines, and they began to tremble, their faces turning pale.

This... this... this little bastard was actually so powerful!?

”Wow!”

”Oh my god, did you see that? Was that Chinese kung fu? That was incredible! I couldn’t even see what happened, and the bodyguard went flying, his arm twisted into a pretzel.”

”That’s definitely Chinese kung fu, just like in the movies! Bruce Lee! Hiyah! Atatatatatata...”
