”Yes, Mr. Chen, look over there. That’s Hong Kong Island, and just above it is Kowloon. And over there is the famous Nine Dragon Regal Hotel in Hong Kong.” Although Dong Shuxian was anxious and distracted because of her father’s situation, she didn’t forget her duty to introduce the city to Chen Fei.

After all, Dong Wencheng’s earlier reminder had made her realize that they were the ones asking for a favor. She had to suppress her emotions. Otherwise, if she angered him and he decided to wash his hands of the matter, she would truly have no one to turn to.

”We’re almost at the airport.”

Chen Fei was excitedly taking in the scenery outside the window when he noticed the plane was nearing Hong Kong Airport and about to descend.

”Mr. Chen, my husband and his people are already at the airport,” Dong Shuxian said, having clearly received a message beforehand. She deliberately mentioned it in front of Chen Fei. Evidently, it was a hint. The eldest son of the prestigious Hong Kong Chen Family was personally here to pick him up from his flight—a sign of immense respect and importance.

”Is that so? That’s perfect.” Chen Fei certainly understood the implication and gave a noncommittal smile. Just then, the plane came to a smooth stop at Hong Kong Airport.

”Mom! Over here! I’m here!” As Chen Fei, Dong Shuxian, and a group of bodyguards walked out of the terminal into the arrivals hall, a cheerful voice called out from nearby. They all turned to look, spotting a young man in his twenties dressed in loose-fitting sportswear. He bore a striking resemblance to Dong Shuxian and was waving and shouting energetically.

Upon seeing the young man, the worry on Dong Shuxian’s face melted away, replaced by a maternal smile. ”Xiaohao,” she said softly, then immediately invited Chen Fei over. ”Mr. Chen, let’s go.”

”Ms. Dong, given the resemblance, that must be your son, right?” Chen Fei asked with a small smile.

”You have a keen eye, Mr. Chen. Yes, he’s our son, Chen Hao. Xiaohao, come over here and greet Mr. Chen.” Her father’s life was on the line, so Chen Fei’s status in her mind was paramount. She answered his question immediately.

”Mr... Mr. Chen, hello. I’m Chen Hao.”

Chen Fei’s current status was quite unique. Aside from the three insiders—Dong Wencheng, Dong Shuxian, and Elder Dong—no one else in the Dong family knew much about him. Even Dong Shuxian’s husband, Chen Yaoyang, the eldest son of the Hong Kong Chen Family, only had a vague idea. So, naturally, Chen Hao had no clue who Chen Fei was.

Still, seeing his own mother show such respect to a young man about his own age, even telling him to politely address the man as ”Mr. Chen,” left Chen Hao rather shocked. He didn’t dare act arrogantly and dutifully greeted him.

”Uh, hello, hello.” Receiving such a formal greeting made Chen Fei feel a bit awkward. He gave a slight chuckle and asked, ”Ms. Dong, didn’t you say your husband was coming too? Where is he?”

”My husband... Oh, that’s right. Xiaohao, where’s your dad?” Dong Shuxian suddenly remembered her husband was supposed to be there and asked her son, puzzled.

”Mom, Dad went to the restroom,” Chen Hao answered, stealing a glance at Chen Fei. With his head slightly lowered, an unmistakable flash of displeasure crossed his face. He couldn’t believe this guy, so young, was speaking so casually to his mother. Who does he think he is? Some big shot?

Of course, he kept these thoughts to himself. He wasn’t foolish enough to blurt them out. His mother hadn’t said anything, so it wasn’t his place to stir up trouble.

”Wait a second, you...” Just then, Chen Fei’s gaze happened to fall upon Chen Hao’s forehead. He paused, then his brow furrowed deeply. He looked at the young man and asked, ”Chen Hao, right? Let me ask you something. Since the start of this year, have you been experiencing frequent headaches when you wake up in the morning?”

”How did you know?” Chen Hao’s expression changed instantly. He couldn’t help but ask in astonishment. He’d never told a soul about this. How could this guy possibly know?

Although Dong Shuxian wasn’t a doctor, she knew Chen Fei was a formidable practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, and that such practitioners were skilled at diagnosing illnesses through observation. At this realization, her face turned pale. Her expression changed drastically as she said urgently, ”Xiaohao, do you really have the symptoms Mr. Chen described? Answer me honestly and don’t take this lightly. Mr. Chen is a very skilled traditional Chinese medicine doctor!”

”Mom, don’t be so tense. It’s just a slight headache when I wake up. I’ve recently taken over some family business, so it’s probably just from overwork. I’ll be more careful in the future, and it’ll be fine.” Chen Hao, however, dismissed it casually, shooting an annoyed glance at Chen Fei.

Hmph! A highly skilled Chinese medicine doctor? At his age? Impossible! He’s just being an alarmist!

”You child, you need to be more careful. Don’t think you can just pull all-nighters because you’re young, understand?” When Dong Shuxian first heard her son confirm the headaches, her heart had leaped into her throat. But when he said it was nothing, she started to relax. Young people were supposed to be healthy, not riddled with so many ailments. She let out a sigh of relief and began to nag him.

”Ms. Dong, from what I can see, Young Master Chen’s condition doesn’t seem to be an ordinary headache,” Chen Fei’s calm voice interjected.

”What? Doctor Chen, what do you mean?” Dong Shuxian’s expression changed dramatically.

”What nonsense are you spouting? I’m only twenty-three! What serious illness could I possibly have?” Chen Hao was already annoyed with Chen Fei’s presumptuous attitude. Now, hearing him basically curse him by saying his headache wasn’t a simple issue, he could no longer hold back. His face darkened as he spoke with dissatisfaction.

”Shut up! Xiaohao, is that any way to speak to Mr. Chen?” Chen Hao didn’t know who Chen Fei was, but Dong Shuxian knew perfectly well. He was the only hope of saving her father. Even her brother, a powerful city party secretary, was completely respectful towards him. Now, her own son was questioning him with such a foul attitude. She was so frightened her face went pale, and she immediately rounded on Chen Hao.

”Shuxian, what’s going on? Why are you losing your temper with Xiaohao?” Just as Dong Shuxian finished speaking, a man’s voice came from nearby. A charmingly dressed, middle-aged man was walking over from the direction of the restrooms. His eyes were bright and piercing, giving him an intense aura.

The man walked up to Chen Hao, gave his wife a questioning look, then patted his son’s shoulder. He feigned a serious tone, ”Xiaohao, your mother is worried sick about your grandfather right now. Don’t do anything to upset her.”

”I know, but... Dad, I just thought what Mr. Chen said was too alarmist, so I talked back a little, and Mom got angry.” Chen Hao felt wronged. A complete stranger shows up and curses him with a serious illness, yet his own mother takes the stranger’s side. He just couldn’t wrap his head around it.

”You... you... What nonsense are you talking about? Just shut your mouth!” Seeing that her son, instead of quieting down, was doubling down, Dong Shuxian’s eyes filled with anger and panic. She raised her voice and scolded him, truly furious now.

This Mr. Chen is the only person who can save her father’s life, yet her son has offended and disrespected him again and again. What if he gets angry and... Dong Shuxian’s face grew even paler. She suddenly grabbed Chen Hao, yanked him in front of Chen Fei, and said sternly, ”Apologize to Mr. Chen!”

”There’s no need. I have nothing to do right now anyway, so I’ll just go for a walk. Ms. Dong, I’ll contact you later.” Chen Fei shook his head quickly. He gave the defiant Chen Hao one last deep look, then turned and strode towards the terminal elevators.

It wasn’t that he was so petty as to get angry over something so trivial. The situation had just become incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. He figured he might as well leave. Besides, it gave him the chance to see the modern metropolis of Hong Kong, which he had been looking forward to exploring.

”Mr. Chen...” Dong Shuxian never expected Chen Fei to actually leave. He hadn’t abandoned them completely, but the situation still made her sick with worry. She couldn’t understand why her normally obedient son had been so hot-headed today.

While she was lamenting, Chen Fei had already disappeared into an elevator. She raised a hand as if to stop him, but ultimately let it fall helplessly, her face a mask of dejection.

”Mom, I... I didn’t mean it...” Seeing his mother’s expression, Chen Hao was scared and began to stammer anxiously.

”Shuxian, what in the world is going on? Just who is that young man? He has quite the attitude,” the sharp-eyed middle-aged man said, frowning with displeasure. He had watched Chen Fei casually drop a sentence and walk away, and he was not impressed.

In Hong Kong, there were the Five Great Noble Families. While their Chen Family ranked last among them, they were still not a family that just anyone could slight. He, Chen Yaoyang, was the eldest son, the acting head of the family, and the de facto leader of the vast Chen Group. He was respected in Hong Kong and had powerful connections even in the Inland. When had he ever seen a young man act so brazenly in front of his wife and son?

Chen Yaoyang didn’t know Chen Fei’s identity, but Dong Shuxian did, crystal clear. He was the only hope for saving her father, and now her son had basically ”angered him into leaving.” At this thought, Dong Shuxian’s mind felt like a tangled mess. She sighed and said slowly, ”He is Doctor Chen.”

”What? He’s Doctor Chen?”

After hearing the definitive answer from his wife, Chen Yaoyang’s expression flickered. He truly hadn’t expected that the ordinary-looking young man in his twenties was the Divine Doctor his wife and brother-in-law had praised so highly over the phone. The cognitive dissonance was jarring. He finally understood why Dong Shuxian had been so furious earlier.

His father-in-law was on his deathbed, and this Doctor Chen was their last hope. No wonder Shuxian was so sensitive and on edge.
