Medical Sage

”Ah, forget it. I’ll just treat your injuries first,” Chen Fei sighed, too lazy to dwell on the matter any longer.

”Treat my injuries? Didn’t that person already take care of them?” Zhao Xin asked, puzzled.

”That guy probably wasn’t sharp enough to notice you were also poisoned. If we leave it, the wound on your waist will definitely start to rot by morning,” Chen Fei said calmly. He paused, then added, ”Also, the acupoints I need to needle are all on your back. In other words, you’ll have to take off your top.”

”No way!” Zhao Xin’s face flushed as she flatly refused.

”Come on, the sick can’t be choosy about their doctors. This isn’t the time to be throwing a tantrum...” Hearing her refusal, Chen Fei just smiled before suddenly ripping her top, exposing her fair back.

”What are you doing?!” Zhao Xin was stunned. She never expected Chen Fei to be so bold as to tear her clothes right in front of her, especially while she was conscious.

”What am I doing? I’m saving you,” Chen Fei said, looking at her murderous glare with a sense of utter resignation.

”Isn’t that uncomfortable?” Chen Fei remarked, glancing at her chest binder as he went to get the spare silver needles from the hotel room.

”None of your business,” Zhao Xin snapped, turning her head away. Her face was slightly red, but her voice was still ice-cold.

”Alright, alright. I’m not trying to peek; I’m just trying to heal you. Also, you’ll probably have to take off that chest binder,” Chen Fei said cautiously.

”You dare! Are you looking for death?!” Zhao Xin was on the verge of going berserk. It wasn’t enough that he had torn off her top, but now he wanted to undo her chest binder while she was awake? Impossible, absolutely impossible!

”Why are you so stubborn for someone so young? Didn’t your parents ever teach you not to be squeamish when seeing a doctor? In a doctor’s eyes, there is no gender,” Chen Fei chided her earnestly. Although he could have just knocked her out and... ahem, treated her injuries as he pleased, he clearly wasn’t that kind of despicable person.

”I don’t care! Either you treat me as I am, or you leave me alone and I’ll figure it out myself. I refuse to believe any poison can take the life of me, Zhao Xin!” she refused resolutely.

”Sigh, why are you so...” Chen Fei was helpless. In all honesty, he wasn’t trying to take advantage of her. The poison was genuinely troublesome; otherwise, the doctor who gave her first aid wouldn’t have missed it. The situation couldn’t be delayed. If the poison entered her vital organs and concealed itself in her meridians, it would become a serious problem.

”Forget it, just my luck today,” Chen Fei muttered helplessly, dropping the subject of the chest binder.

The next moment, he took a needle from his bag. Using the initiation form from the >, a technique passed down by a certain expert from the Cultivation World, he flicked the needle. It vibrated twice, stimulating two acupoints with each pulse, piercing the center line of the first joint of her thumb like a bolt of lightning. This was the Pollution Control Acupoint, which had a miraculous effect on skin ulceration.

As the silver needle entered her body, he vibrated it gently.

He then took out two more needles, inserting them into vital acupoints on Zhao Xin’s waist with a special technique. However, as he prepared to place the final needle, he hesitated. The target acupoint was located three inches below her chest, and it was the core of the entire Formation he was using.

”I need to place the last needle now,” Chen Fei finally said after some thought.

Zhao Xin shot him a look but remained silent.

”The position of this needle is a bit special. I’ll need your cooperation,” Chen Fei said, forcing himself to press on.

”Special? Where?” Zhao Xin whispered, a bad feeling rising in her heart as she looked at him.

”Uh... three inches below your chest,” Chen Fei finally managed to say after hemming and hawing.

”What?” Zhao Xin’s face instantly turned crimson with shame and vigilance. She adamantly refused without a second thought. ”No, absolutely not!” Although she could kill a person without batting an eye, she was completely innocent when it came to physical contact between men and women. She had never experienced anything like it, so how could she possibly accept something so intimate?

”Why are you so one-track-minded? I’m trying to save you. Can you please not make this out to be something sordid?” Chen Fei was starting to get annoyed. Seriously, who’s the patient here?

”Still no. If... if you dare to do that, I’ll kill myself right in front of you,” Zhao Xin said coldly, her mind made up.

”You... I... Damn it!” Chen Fei couldn’t help but curse.

The atmosphere instantly fell into an eerie silence. Zhao Xin leaned weakly against the sofa in the presidential suite, her eyes stealing glances at Chen Fei’s helpless expression. A flicker of apology crossed her mind. She hesitated for a long time but was still unable to overcome her mental block, so she could only apologize silently in her heart and say nothing.

As an elite member of the Provincial Public Security Department, she knew Chen Fei was right. It was irrational to be so hesitant when she knew she was poisoned. But she just couldn’t accept that kind of treatment; she couldn’t get past that hurdle in her mind, so she had to let it go.

SNAP!

But just then, Chen Fei suddenly chopped the side of her neck, knocking her unconscious.

”Sorry, sorry. This one might not be my fault. Who asked you to be so badly injured and poisoned? As a doctor, I can’t just turn a blind eye. See no evil, see no evil...” Chen Fei muttered to himself. He really had no other choice. The situation was urgent. If it had been an ordinary poison, he wouldn’t have tried to persuade her over and over again.

With her unconscious, things became much simpler. Chen Fei no longer bothered holding back, directly using his Spiritual Energy along with the >, a technique inherited from that same expert in the Cultivation World. He easily resolved the issue in less than ten minutes.

The >, though its name was only one character different from the well-known >, was a completely different set of techniques. The former came from the Cultivation World, a divine needle art capable of curing calamitous illnesses for its legendary practitioners. It was naturally far beyond what a ”mere” mortal technique could ever compare to.

After finishing the treatment, Chen Fei tactfully left her to rest in the presidential suite and got another room for himself to cultivate.

The next day, when Chen Fei went to the presidential suite to look for her, he found the room empty. A hotel employee said she seemed to have left alone before dawn.

”She really doesn’t want to waste a single moment,” Chen Fei mused. He knew she wanted to deliver the crucial evidence back as quickly as possible to prevent any unforeseen problems.

From what she said last night, if she gets that letter and the ledger back, that person is almost certain to fall. If that’s the case...

As Chen Fei murmured to himself, a glint flashed in his eyes. He took out his phone and dialed Deputy Mayor Huang Tao’s number. ”Hello, is that Uncle Huang?”

Huang Tao had slept poorly, his mind wrestling with how to handle the previous night’s incident. Logically, after something like that, it wasn’t just the district chief or the deputy director of the Public Security Bureau—even he, the executive deputy mayor, could hardly escape responsibility. Furthermore, the matter involved Chen Fei, a person who inspired a sense of awe even in him.

But the timing was too sensitive. With the general election approaching, this period was critical for him, so he honestly didn’t want any new complications. Yet, if he handled it quietly, he worried Chen Fei might be dissatisfied. It was a difficult dilemma.

Just as he was caught in this bind, he suddenly received a call from Chen Fei. He jolted and answered the phone, ”Doctor Chen, good morning. I was wondering...”

Before he could finish, Chen Fei interrupted from the other end. ”Uncle Huang, I have a question for you. If that Mo Cheng fellow is taken down, what happens to his cronies?”

”Ah? What... What did you say?”

A cold sweat broke out on Huang Tao’s back. He felt his heart pound violently, and his hands holding the phone trembled uncontrollably. He never expected Chen Fei to ask such a question. He knew exactly which Mo Cheng Chen Fei was talking about.

That’s the undisputed top leader of Northern Mountain City, and he holds a provincial post! His status, whether in title or actual power, is several tiers above mine. It’s no exaggeration to say he can cover the sky with one hand in this city. But now, Chen Fei is talking about taking him down? What does that even imply?

In that instant, Huang Tao felt a chill run down his spine, and the hair on his body stood on end.

”Doctor... Doctor Chen, in our circles, there’s a saying: ’We prosper together and fall together.’ So...” Huang Tao said cautiously, not daring to spell it out completely. But Chen Fei understood the general meaning.

”I understand. Uncle Huang, if this news is useful to you, you might want to pay close attention to this matter soon. I’ve got something else to attend to, so I’ll let you go.”

The moment he finished speaking, the line went dead with a buzz.

Even though the call had ended, Huang Tao remained frozen in place for a long time, his face a mixture of shock, uncertainty, and profound awe.
