Medical Sage

Chu Yan was a flight attendant for Jiangnan Airlines. Thanks to her lively personality, quirky charm, and eloquence, she was especially popular within the company.

Moreover, she was genuinely beautiful, with a tall figure and long, graceful legs. Even in flat shoes, she stood at least 170 centimeters tall—a long-haired beauty. Naturally, she was often endlessly harassed by so-called successful individuals who flew on planes, which troubled her greatly.

Eventually, this free-spirited ’Miss’ couldn’t take it anymore and reluctantly applied for a transfer to work in first class.

Passengers flying in first class, after all, had seen more of the world and generally possessed better manners and qualities than the majority of those in economy class. This might mean she would face less harassment.

On account of Miss Chu’s popularity and because they seemed genuinely sorry for her, the company transferred her to work in first class on the flight between Northern Mountain City and Tongzhou City. Coincidentally, today was her very first shift, and she had not expected to encounter an ’acquaintance.’

”Is it you?”

As Chen Fei followed Gao Zhinan into the first-class cabin and prepared to take his seat, a surprised voice suddenly called out.

”So it’s you.” Chen Fei turned and immediately saw Chu Yan wearing a smart flight attendant uniform, glaring at him with a pout. Her eyes were filled with resentment, and he instantly remembered who she was.

”So you’re a flight attendant! Why are you giving me that resentful look? I’ll have you know, I haven’t done anything to you,” Chen Fei said with a laugh upon recognizing his ’old friend,’ teasing her with a wink.

”Shut up! Who’s looking at you with resentment? Shameless! Humph!” Chu Yan let out a series of indignant huffs, a sight that would have looked utterly adorable to any outsider.

”I’m shameless? Hey, all I did was fight you for a taxi. Do you really need to hold such a big grudge? Wait a minute, were you late that day? Did you get your pay docked?” Chen Fei first feigned being wronged, then began to tease her gleefully.

”You… you! You have the nerve to bring that up! If it weren’t for you, you big jerk, I wouldn’t have been late and had my pay docked! It was all your fault! Hmph! I got in the car first, but you came over and fought me for it. You’re so thick-skinned!” As soon as Miss Chu heard this, she bristled and began to chatter non-stop.

”Bully! So shameless! Thick-skinned…”

”Stop!”

Seeing the situation escalating, Chen Fei broke out in a cold sweat and called a halt. ”Are you a chatterbox or something? How can you talk so much?” he said, completely at a loss.

”None of your business! You bully! You made me lose my pay, you’re a bad person! A bad person!” Chu Yan huffed, not giving Chen Fei, the ’distinguished’ customer, any face.

”Chu Yan, what are you doing? How can you speak to a passenger like that? Come over here and apologize.” Finally, the chief purser, seemingly unable to watch any longer, stepped in to mediate.

”What? Apologize to this kind of person? No way! I won’t do it!”

Upon hearing she had to apologize to the big bully Chen Fei, Miss Chu’s round face scrunched up like a sour lemon, her displeasure obvious.

”Hey, chatterbox, what do you mean by ’this kind of person’? Today, I am a passenger on your airline, and the customer is king. You know that, right?” Chen Fei said righteously, though he looked a little too smug for his own good.

”Chu Yan, apologize to this passenger right now,” the chief purser said, her expression stern.

Although she didn’t know the full story, she had heard Chu Yan’s remarks and found them impolite and disrespectful. After all, this was the first-class cabin of Jiangnan Airlines, and they were representing the entire team.

”Fine, I’ll apologize! Hmph. Sorry,” Chu Yan huffed angrily, tossing the word at Chen Fei. There was an aggrieved shimmer in her bright eyes, which made him feel suddenly embarrassed and regretful for taking the joke too far.

Although they had only met once, it had been an amusing encounter, so seeing her on the verge of tears made him feel genuinely bad.

However, Miss Chu didn’t give him a chance to apologize. She stomped off to the other side of the cabin, her face a mask of indignation. Grinding her teeth furiously, she muttered under her breath, periodically shooting a ’fierce’ glare at Chen Fei’s back.

Soon after, the plane took off from the airport. Strictly speaking, this was Chen Fei’s first time on a plane, and to say he wasn’t nervous would be a lie. Flying so high in the sky, if anything went wrong, there would truly be no escape. Thus, as the plane took off, he was excessively tense, his hands clutching the armrests tightly and his face a mask of solemnity.

”Doctor Chen, is this your first time flying? Air travel is currently the safest mode of transportation in the world, with an accident rate of about one in a million. You’ll be fine,” Gao Zhinan, sitting beside Chen Fei, remarked upon seeing his state. I had the same expression on my first flight. Once you get used to it, it’s nothing.

”Hmph, what a country bumpkin. To think he’s never even been on a…” Gao Zhinan happened to have chartered the entire first-class cabin for this flight, so it was quiet enough for Chu Yan to overhear him. She immediately seized the opportunity to take a jab at her ’enemy,’ but before she could finish, her face paled. She cried out in pain and slowly sank to the floor.

”Chu Yan, what’s wrong?” The flight attendant standing beside her cried out in alarm and rushed over to help.

”Little Yun, help her to the rest area. There’s medicine in there.” The chief purser, hearing the commotion, also came over. She saw Chu Yan clutching her stomach with one hand and tightly gripping her uniform with the other. Her small face was pale and drawn, and she was biting her lip hard. Understanding the situation immediately, she wanted Chu Yan to go rest and take some medicine.

For cabin crew members like them, with irregular meals and chaotic schedules, one problem was nearly universal: menstrual cramps. This affliction was a great source of distress, but it was also difficult to resolve. They could only endure it. Even when a flare-up occurred mid-flight, they had to grit their teeth and bear it until they landed. The most they could do was take the medicine typically stocked on the plane and rest for a bit, but that was just a temporary fix and not very effective.

”Let me take a look,” Chen Fei suddenly said, standing up from his seat.

”You…?” The chief purser looked at him in surprise.

”I’m a doctor currently working at the Municipal Central Hospital in Northern Mountain City. Mr. Gao can vouch for me. Besides, she should know that as well. Let me have a look,” Chen Fei said.

”You big jerk, are you really capable?” Though pale, Chu Yan’s baby-fat face flushed with a hint of red. Of course, I remember him saying he was going to apply for a job at the hospital back when we were fighting for the taxi. But every field has its specialists… is he actually any good?

”Is that even a question? I’m a doctor. If I can’t handle it, can you?” Chen Fei shot her an irritated glare and said seriously, ”I’m going to use a massage technique to relieve the pain. Don’t think I’m taking advantage of you. Now, move your hand.”

With that, Chen Fei gently placed his hand on her abdomen and began to massage slowly and rhythmically.

”How could you…” Another flight attendant, seeing Chen Fei so boldly place his hand on such a private area, started to protest indignantly. But before she could get a full sentence out, the chief purser raised a hand to stop her.

The chief purser glanced at Chen Fei with surprise, then turned to Chu Yan and asked quietly, ”Chu Yan, how are you feeling? Does it still hurt as much?”

”I… it doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Staring at Chen Fei as if he were an alien, Chu Yan reached out and lightly rapped him on the head. ”Hey, have you touched me enough? It doesn’t hurt anymore, but you’re still touching. Such a pervert!”

”You chatterbox, you dare hit me? Do you have any idea what traditional Chinese massage is? Believe it or not, if I let go now, the pain will come back so bad you’ll wish you were dead. You think I want to be touching you? There’s nothing to you, hmph!” Chen Fei retorted, visibly annoyed.

Of course, this talk of ’traditional Chinese massage’ was a complete bluff. He had simply used his Spiritual Energy to alleviate her symptoms; it had little to do with any actual massage technique. Naturally, the pain wouldn’t return if he let go—it was all just a ruse. He said this partly to scare her and vent his own frustration. The other reason, of course, was that he was somewhat reluctant to let go; it felt quite comfortable.

”Ah, it’ll start hurting again? Then keep massaging! If it still hurts later, I’ll beat you up,” Chu Yan said, instantly terrified by his words and issuing a fierce ’threat.’

”Shut up. You actually dared to hit my head? You’ve got some nerve!” Chen Fei casually tapped her on the head in return, looking as though he had won a great victory.

”You! You big jerk…” Though her head stung, Chu Yan was now under his thumb and had no choice but to submit to his tyranny. She muttered something under her breath with a look of displeasure but obediently kept her mouth shut.

Seeing this, Chen Fei felt a wave of achievement wash over him. He smugly continued the charade for a few more moments before finally removing his hand. ”Alright, you’re fine now,” he said with a look of ’disgust.’ ”I don’t know how much you eat, your stomach is so flabby…”

”Hey! You said my stomach is flabby? Where? For your information, I’m 171 centimeters tall and weigh only 48.5 kilograms! How dare you call me fat? I’ll fight you!” Chu Yan immediately blew a gasket, her small frame bursting with enormous energy as she prepared to confront him head-on.

”Fight you? Get real. A good man doesn’t fight with a woman. Shoo, shoo,” Chen Fei reacted instantly, dodging to the side and leisurely returning to his seat.

”Boo-hoo… Chief Purser, that jerk bullied me!” Chu Yan, feeling deeply wronged, ran over to the chief purser to complain.

The chief purser wore a helpless, wry smile. While ’comforting’ Chu Yan, she also turned to thank Chen Fei. If he hadn’t been there, who knows what might have happened today.

”It was nothing,” Chen Fei said, accepting her thanks. ”Ah, Chief Purser, could you please get me a pen and some paper? I’ll write you a prescription. If you take the herbs as directed, it should help solve this problem for good.”
