Medical Sage

”Hello, may I ask if you are Miss Gu Feishuang? Please allow me to introduce myself. My surname is Wang, and my name is Lehui. My uncle is President Wang Kai of Jin Zun Jewelry. May I have the honor of inviting you, a beautiful lady, to a dance?” Whether it was because Gu Feishuang was truly that captivating or for some other reason, a brown-haired man in a light-gray tailcoat evening suit appeared and politely asked her to dance.

This brown-haired man, Wang Lehui, was the nephew of Wang Kai, the president of Jiangnan Province’s largest jewelry chain enterprise, Jin Zun Jewelry. Wang Kai had suffered a car accident in his early years, which left him with complications that made him unable to have children. Thus, after making his fortune in recent years, he had invested considerable energy into nurturing the children of his relatives as a form of emotional and spiritual investment. Consequently, Wang Lehui was quite well-known in the social circles of Jiangnan Province. Furthermore, since Jin Zun Jewelry was a major investor in the Huashu Media film this time, it was no wonder he was acting so high-profile.

”I’m sorry, but Miss Gu is my companion tonight, so please step aside,” Chen Fei said coolly before Gu Feishuang could even hesitate to speak.

Is he kidding me? His attitude is completely dismissive, as if I’m just air. Invisible?

”Who are you? Didn’t you hear me? Do you not know who I, Wang Lehui, am?” the brown-haired man asked, his expression turning cold.

”Moron!” Chen Fei simply sneered, not expecting the man to be so unintelligent. What does your identity have to do with anything? But he couldn’t be bothered to waste his breath arguing. Turning around, he took Gu Feishuang’s hand and said nonchalantly, ”Let’s go.”

”Stop!” Wang Lehui’s expression changed drastically. In a grim tone, he said, ”Miss Gu Feishuang, you should know that Jin Zun Jewelry is one of the major investors in this film. By refusing to give me, Wang Lehui, face like this, are you saying you no longer want to be a part of this movie?” He was actually resorting to threats.

”Master Wang, no, I…” Hearing this, Gu Feishuang’s face instantly paled, her heart pounding in her chest.

”Shut up!”

But in the next moment, Chen Fei suddenly snapped, ”You piece of trash, who do you think you are? Do you really think you can do as you please just because your family has some power and influence? Don’t push your luck, or you’ll be sorry!”

His mood was already sour from the earlier incident with Xiao Qianrang of the Xiao Family. Now, being confronted by an idiot like this so-called Master Wang, it had only gotten worse. He was in no mood for any more nonsense.

”Young Master Chen!”

”Da Fei.”

Just as the atmosphere was growing increasingly tense, two men and a woman descended the stairs from the second floor nearby and walked briskly toward them. It was Xiaao Ming, Hua Zhinan, and their companion.

”You’re finally down. Any longer and I would have left,” Chen Fei said, raising his glass to clink with theirs as they approached.

”Leave? Young Master Chen, what are you talking about?” Xiaao Ming’s expression shifted as he quickly sized up the situation. Understanding dawned, and he turned to Wang Lehui, his voice cold. ”Master Wang, Young Master Chen is my esteemed guest. Let’s not have any misunderstandings. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being discourteous!”

As he spoke, the expressions of everyone present changed. To Master Wang Lehui, it sounded like a blatant warning: Don’t offend people you can’t afford to offend, and don’t stir up unnecessary trouble. How was that any different from a direct threat?

”Young Master Xiao, what a thing to say. It seems this Young Master Chen carries a lot more weight than we do,” Wang Lehui said icily. In my capacity as the heir of Jin Zun Jewelry, why should I be treated as less than some penniless nobody? Is this a slap in my face? What is this Chen Fei, and is he even qualified to be compared to me, Master Wang?

”Master Wang, please watch your—” Xiaao Ming began to retort, his face cold, but Chen Fei, standing beside him, cut him off.

”Let’s go. Standing here with these brain-dead fools is lowering my IQ,” Chen Fei said, no longer bothering to engage with them. He smiled and gestured toward a corner of the main hall. His tone and words were utterly dismissive of Wang Lehui, as if he was truly too lazy to waste another breath on them.

In truth, that was exactly the case. The man was nothing more than a useless scion, a government official’s son. A polite chat was one thing, but trying to put on airs and act superior? Who gives a damn about you?

Chen Fei’s overt disregard and mocking words made Wang Lehui feel like a dancing clown in a one-man show, seething with rage. To be treated like a fool by someone he viewed as powerless and insignificant—one could only imagine the fury boiling inside him, so intense he felt his lungs might burst.

However, Xiaao Ming saw things differently. He had learned a great deal about Chen Fei from Young Master Huang. He especially remembered the case of the deputy director of the Northern Mountain City Public Security Bureau and a branch chief. They dared to cross Chen Fei and are now rotting in prison, with no telling when they’ll get out. Then there was the suspected mastermind, Vice Mayor Zhou Zhuo of Northern Mountain City. According to the Xiaao Family’s intelligence, his own situation was now precarious, his official position hanging by a thread. Furthermore, Young Master Huang’s father, Deputy Mayor Huang Tao, was a staunch supporter of Young Master Chen. He was the most likely candidate to become the next mayor of Northern Mountain City and vice secretary of the municipal party committee. Compared to him, Wang Lehui is nothing, Xiaao Ming thought.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Xiaao Ming smiled and nodded. ”Yes, Young Master Chen.” He had chosen his side, picking Chen Fei over Wang Lehui without a second thought.

”Xiaao Ming, you!” Seeing Xiaao Ming disrespect him so blatantly, Wang Lehui truly felt as if his lungs would explode.

Just then, several more people descended the stairs from the second floor of the Shawan Club. The man in the lead wore gold-rimmed glasses; it was Liu Cheng, the son of Old Master Liu Zhou, whom Chen Fei had met in Northern Mountain. Flanking him half a step behind were two other men. One bore a slight resemblance to Xiaao Ming, while the other looked somewhat like Wang Lehui.

”What’s going on, Xiaao Ming? What’s with all the chaos?” the man who resembled Xiaao Ming asked with a frown as the trio took in the messy scene.

Wang Lehui hadn’t expected such a coincidence, for their elders to appear right in the middle of their dispute. For a moment, he was dumbfounded, and they could only look at each other, unsure how to respond.

”Dad, this is Young Master Chen, the one Young Master Huang told you about,” Xiaao Ming said calmly, giving his father a meaningful look.

”Young Master Chen? Could it be…” The man Xiaao Ming called ”Dad” was startled, but a warm expression quickly spread across his face. He reached out to shake Chen Fei’s hand, but someone in front of him moved first.

”Doctor Chen, good evening! It’s a true pleasure to see you here,” Liu Cheng said eagerly, stepping forward.

”You are… oh, you’re Elder Liu’s son?” Chen Fei paused for a second before recalling who the man was. He replied nonchalantly, without a hint of enthusiasm. In his eyes, this was just the son of one of his patients—a wealthy one, at most. Besides, the man had previously questioned his medical skills, so Chen Fei had no reason to be particularly friendly.

His lukewarm attitude, however, left everyone present stunned. This was especially true for Gu Feishuang and Zhang Wan. They knew that Liu Cheng was their direct superior, the chairman of Huashu Media. He was a powerhouse in the domestic and even Asian entertainment industry, a magnate who could make things happen with a snap of his fingers. Yet here he was, acting so humbly before a young man, even using such a respectful form of address. It felt like they were dreaming.

”Brother Xiaao, Boss Liu, may I ask who this young gentleman is?” The man who resembled Wang Lehui had taken in the reactions of Xiaao Ming’s father and Liu Cheng’s deferential manner. An involuntary shiver ran through him, and he couldn’t help but ask.

The question sent a tremor through Wang Lehui. His face turned visibly pale, and his heart plunged into an abyss. It’s over, it’s all over, he screamed internally. Even if he were as dumb as a pig, he now understood that he had put on his arrogant airs for the wrong person and had provoked someone he couldn’t afford to offend.

”This is…”

Liu Cheng was about to make an introduction, but Chen Fei suddenly waved his hand. ”Boss Liu, there’s no need to introduce me. I’m just here for the party. Oh, right, these two are my friends. I’m sure they don’t need an introduction, right?”

Chen Fei directly snubbed the man who looked like Wang Lehui, turning to take Hua Zhinan and Xiaao Ming by the hand. This caused a subtle shift in the expressions of those present, particularly the snubbed man himself. This was Wang Kai, the man in charge of Jin Zun Jewelry, Jiangnan’s largest jewelry chain. Normally, people would be falling over themselves to curry favor with him. When had a mere young man ever dared to show him such blatant, inexplicable disrespect?

”Boss Liu,” both Xiaao Ming and Hua Zhinan said excitedly, greeting Liu Cheng with a polite, traditional gesture. They were well aware of his identity as the head of Huashu Media, China’s largest film and media company, with assets in the billions. He was a truly influential figure in the country. The opportunity to connect with such a person was thrilling.

”This must be President Xiaao’s son, right? And this must be Young Master Xiao’s friend? A pleasure to meet you both! A pleasure!” Liu Cheng responded courteously, showing Chen Fei a great deal of respect, though he was inwardly puzzled by Chen Fei’s attitude. Did Wang Kai offend him somehow in the past?
