”You... Little Chen, have you driven before? The way you handle the steering wheel is quite standard. Not bad, not bad,” Coach Zhou said, quite surprised to see Chen Fei operate the steering wheel simulator with such skill and ease on his first try.

”Actually, no. Today really is my first day learning to drive, and I think this might even be my first time touching a steering wheel,” Chen Fei explained with a smile.

”Although your form is already quite good, since today is your first time... Well, just practice here a bit more. If possible, I’ll let you get in a car and try it out this afternoon,” Coach Zhou pondered for a moment before turning to supervise the other three students practicing reverse parking.

”Okay.”

Although Chen Fei found practicing with the steering wheel quite boring, he knew he couldn’t expect to master everything on his first day, so he nodded in agreement.

And so, Chen Fei spent the entire morning at the steering wheel simulator. Of course, he was distracted for most of that time. The task was simply too easy for him; he learned and mastered it with little effort, and continuous practice would have been monotonous.

「After about two or three hours.」

”Little Chen, Little Zhao, come over here,” Coach Zhou suddenly waved them over.

Summoned by the coach, Chen Fei stopped what he was doing and walked over to the reverse parking practice area.

”Come on. Even though it’s your first time learning to drive, I think you handle the steering wheel well enough to pass. I’m making an exception and letting you have a go at the car. And you, Little Zhao, your reverse parking just now was passable, but it had quite a few problems and wasn’t smooth enough. Both of you, pay close attention as I demonstrate,” Coach Zhou said, clearly preparing to give them some private instruction. This naturally irritated the other two students waiting their turn.

”Listen up, I’ll go over it once for you...” In the car, Coach Zhou carefully explained the functions of the clutch, brake, and accelerator, and demonstrated how to start the car and begin driving. Although Zhao Le knew the basics, she also realized she had many areas to improve and paid close attention.

”Little Zhao, you go first.” After the demonstration, Coach Zhou moved to the passenger seat, letting Zhao Le try reverse parking once more.

Zhao Le took her place at the wheel and started the car carefully. Though her actions were slow, they appeared much smoother than before, and this time, her reverse parking maneuver was a success.

”See, Little Zhao, you’re quite clever. Not like those two fools. They’ve been here for nearly half a month and still haven’t mastered something as simple as reverse parking... Really...”

While complaining, Coach Zhou turned to Chen Fei. ”Little Chen, your turn. Give it a try and get a feel for the car. Don’t overthink it. Just getting it to move is good enough.” With a manual transmission, the biggest challenge for a novice is hand-foot coordination. Stalling and erratic steering are the most common mistakes.

”Alright.”

Looking confident, Chen Fei said nothing more as he took his seat. With smooth coordination of his hands and feet, he got the car moving steadily.

Moreover, seeming somewhat unsatisfied, he recalled Coach Zhou’s earlier demonstration and began fiddling with the clutch, brake, and accelerator. Just as Coach Zhou nodded in satisfaction, thinking it was about time to call a halt, Chen Fei effortlessly completed a perfect reverse parking maneuver.

This scene left the other two in the car completely stunned.

”Chen Fei... you’re incredible! You managed to reverse park on your first time in a car, and so perfectly?” Zhao Le exclaimed, shocked.

”Little Chen, are you really learning to drive for the first time?” Coach Zhou also looked incredulous.

”Of course. You don’t believe me?” Chen Fei nodded and said with a straight face.

”Cough, cough... I believe you, I believe you.” Coach Zhou, likely encountering such a formidable student for the first time, wiped the sweat from his brow. ”You don’t need to practice the basics anymore. This reverse parking... I think you’ve pretty much got it. I’ll demonstrate the other test items for you; let’s see how much you can learn today.”

He then proceeded to demonstrate the other maneuvers from the driving test for Chen Fei, like crossing the single-side bridge and making a right-angle turn.

Then, Chen Fei smiled modestly, got in the car, and perfectly replicated every single demonstration Coach Zhou had just performed.

”This... this...”

Zhao Le and Coach Zhou exchanged a wide-eyed glance. The latter exclaimed in amazement, ”Damn it, I’d always heard people say some have a natural talent for driving, mastering everything after just a few demonstrations. I never believed it, but now I’m convinced. I can’t believe a genius like you actually exists!”

”Chen Fei, I think you should try professional racing,” Zhao Le said earnestly, believing he had both the potential and the skill.

As for Luo Chun and Manager Wangg, they had been waiting miserably outside the car. When they witnessed Chen Fei go from a complete novice to flawlessly executing every test item—and with a technique that seemed even more polished than the instructor’s—they were flooded with a mix of complicated feelings, as if an entire spice rack had been overturned in their hearts.

It was a textbook case of how comparisons can kill one’s spirit.

As a result, their own practice became even more torturous. The psychological pressure mounted, leading to more and more mistakes. Frustrated and exasperated, Coach Zhou finally erupted in a fierce tirade.

”Alright, alright, that’s enough practice! Little Chen, you drive today. We’ll go eat at Old Yuan’s Agritainment nearby.” It was nearly noon and everyone was hungry. He suggested they go eat, which was also a way to let Manager Wangg and Luo Chun relax a bit.

”Ah, Coach Zhou, you want him to drive? Isn’t that a bit inappropriate? This is his first day, isn’t it?” Manager Wangg couldn’t help but protest, his face sour. He knew perfectly well that with Chen Fei’s skill, driving on the road would be no problem at all. However, he couldn’t stand to watch Chen Fei continue to steal the spotlight. He felt an intense sense of injustice. How could he, after practicing for days, be so thoroughly outdone by a first-timer?

It has to be a lie! He must have learned how to drive before coming here! He must have!

”What are you blabbering about? Am I not sitting right here in the passenger seat?” Coach Zhou shot him a look and spoke bluntly. They were all adults, and he knew exactly what the man was thinking, so he didn’t feel the need to say more.

”Well... alright then.”

Seeing that Coach Zhou wouldn’t budge, Manager Wangg, his face grim, had no choice but to swallow his pride and say no more.

A little while later, under Coach Zhou’s guidance, Chen Fei smoothly started the driving school car and drove confidently onto the main road outside the practice field. The sight left Manager Wangg and Luo Chun, who had been itching to find fault, utterly speechless.

It was no exaggeration to say that with Chen Fei’s strength, which was nearly at the Qi Refining Third Layer, he could probably pilot an airplane with ease, let alone face any danger in a car. Unless the vehicle itself malfunctioned, his reaction speed was more than enough to handle any situation.

”Coach, I’m going to speed up a little.”

Still, since it was his first time driving, Chen Fei could hardly suppress his excitement and curiosity. After driving on the main road for a while, he grew dissatisfied with their turtle’s pace of thirty to forty miles per hour. After giving a heads-up, he pressed the accelerator. The engine revved, and the car’s speed quickly rose to fifty or sixty miles per hour.

”Slow down, Little Chen! You’ve just started. You need to take it step by step...” Coach Zhou’s brow furrowed reflexively. He thought Chen Fei was getting ahead of himself; a new driver going too fast was a recipe for danger.

However, when he felt the car’s steady progress, completely devoid of the hesitation and clumsiness typical of a novice’s handling, he wisely shut his mouth. He knew very well that even he could rarely drive the school car so steadily, let alone a beginner. Chen Fei had done it, so Coach Zhou no longer had any grounds or authority to lecture him.

Moreover, in that moment, Coach Zhou couldn’t help but marvel that such a thing as natural talent truly existed. His nearly twenty years of learning and teaching how to drive felt like they had gone to waste, worthless compared to a complete novice.

This is truly...

Seeing all this, Manager Wangg and Luo Chun didn’t dare say another word. They both wore sullen expressions throughout the meal, and as soon as it was over, they found an excuse and quickly left.
