Chapter 1529: Chapter 1530 Spinning the Top

Despite the mixed feelings in his heart and strong opinions, Gong Juechen didn’t show any of it. Instead, he, along with Ye Zhi and Gong Juese, bowed and thanked for the imperial favor.

Su Chengyu also didn’t want to not appoint Ye Zhi as a general, but the relationship between Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen made him uneasy. After much consideration, he decided not to appoint Ye Zhi as a general.

However, he felt indebted to Ye Zhi for her contributions to Xiyun, so he tried to make amends as much as possible by rewarding Ye Zhi with many items of gold and silver.

After the distribution of merits and rewards was completed, Su Chengyu mentioned that there would be a grand celebration banquet in the evening, and then he dismissed the court.

As soon as they left the Assembly Hall, Xiao Changyi, An Jing, Su Chengyu, Su Chengyuan, and other members of the royal family, carrying the head of the Emperor of Chilin, went to the imperial mausoleum to honor Su Haoyu.

Xiao Changyi and An Jing knelt in front of Su Haoyu’s tomb for a long time before getting up and heading to the Jun Palace to find their four children.

Jing, Xing, Qing, and Yun were playing with spinning tops at the entrance of the Jun Palace. Ning Wenxian, the Empress, was watching with a group of palace attendants. Even though Jing Xingqingyun were already six and a half years old, Ning Wenxian was still worried about them playing alone, fearing that something might happen and she wouldn’t be able to answer to Xiao Changyi and An Jing.

Over these more than two years, Ning Wenxian and Su Chengyu took good care of Jing Xingqingyun. Originally, Jing Xingqingyun were close to Ning Wenxian and Su Chengyu, but after being cared for over two years, they became even closer to Ning Wenxian and Su Chengyu.

Ning Wenxian knew that An Jing and Xiao Changyi were returning triumphantly today, and Jing Xingqingyun also knew, but they couldn’t go to the front court and could only wait in the harem for An Jing and Xiao Changyi to finish their affairs and come find them.

”Third Brother, why haven’t Father and Mother come to find us yet? Didn’t they say Father and Mother would return today?” An Yiyun, being physically weak, got tired after playing with the spinning top for just a while. He stood there, watching his older brothers play with the spinning top. As he watched, he couldn’t help but ask this question to An Yiqing, who was closest to him.

It was clear that he missed his Father and Mother.

Very much.

An Yiqing was busy whipping the spinning top, too preoccupied to pay attention to An Yiyun.

It was Su Yi Jing, steady and reserved, who stopped whipping his spinning top and said to An Yiyun, ”Didn’t Second Uncle say before he left this morning, saying that it would probably be dark before Father and Mother could finish their affairs and come find us? It’s not dark yet.”

”But I miss Father and Mother...” An Yiyun’s voice grew smaller and smaller.

Su Yi Jing also missed them, but at six and a half years old, he was not as good at expressing his inner thoughts. He simply stopped playing with the spinning top, walked over to An Yiyun, and stood by his side to keep him company.

Father and Mother had told him that he was the eldest brother, and he had to protect his younger brothers.

Su Yixing saw his elder brother and younger fourth brother standing together silently, looking towards the direction their parents would come from. He also stopped playing with the spinning top and walked towards his elder brother and fourth brother.

As he walked towards his elder brother and fourth brother, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a few black pearls, saying, ”Elder Brother, Fourth Brother, look at the good things I got from Second Uncle yesterday. Shall I give you each one?”

Before Su Yi Jing and An Yiyun could speak, An Yiqing rushed over, laughing, ”Second Brother, if you keep getting things from Second Uncle, there won’t be any more space in our room. Then we’ll let you sleep outside the door, hahaha...”

In these more than two years, Su Yixing had indeed asked for many things from Su Chengyu, all rare items. Whenever he liked something, he would ask, and Second Uncle Su Chengyu would almost always oblige him when he could.
