Chapter 1508: Chapter 1509: The East Gate Is Breached

”Great General!” It was all too sudden, too unexpected, and the people on the tower were panicked, having no idea how Fan Youyun suddenly died with blood gushing from his forehead.

Xiao Changyi saw Fan Youyun fall on the tower and immediately knew it was his wife who shot Fan Youyun. Without hesitation, he drew his Longsword and shouted with mighty conviction, ”Attack the city!”

”Kill them—” Meng Zhuqing and several commanders instantly led the troops into the attack. With the enemy’s main general dead, the army’s morale soared.

The people guarding Chilin’s East Gate, having lost their main general, were thrown into chaos like a ship without a rudder.

Without orders, the archers on the tower even didn’t know whether they should shoot their arrows at Xiao Changyi and his forces.

The main general was gone, but there were other generals; however, the event happened too suddenly, and no one knew who should take charge as the main general. Besides, the other generals were not as skilled in defense as Fan Youyun, so they could only follow Fan Youyun’s previous orders for defense.

But their response was too slow. By the time one of the generals ordered to shoot arrows, it was already too late as a massive stone from a catapult smashed into the East Gate, breaking it open.

Meng Zhuqing and others had already crossed the moat via a bridge plate set up for crossing.

The East Gate had been breached, so the battering ram and catapults were no longer needed. The operators picked up swords and other weapons, charging towards the East Gate to kill the enemies with the main force.

An Jing didn’t have time to worry about the situation with Xiao Changyi. Having shot Fan Youyun, she thought of shooting another general on the tower, but the generals all bent down to check on Fan Youyun, making it impossible for her to see them. So, she decisively gave up and jumped down from the tree with her sniper rifle.

Then, she mounted Moon Stepping and galloped towards the South Gate.

Qiao Shouye was confronting Ye Zhi and others at the South Gate, against those on the South Gate tower. An Jing arrived behind the army on Moon Stepping, not dismounting, and immediately aimed her sniper rifle at Xie Xingyuan, who was positioned in the center on the South Gate tower.

At this moment, An Jing was extremely grateful that the Great General’s Battle Armor was distinct from that of ordinary people, allowing her to instantly recognize who the South Gate’s main general was.

Once Xie Xingyuan was in her sights, An Jing pulled the trigger decisively and straightforwardly, without any hesitation.

Then, An Jing quickly aimed at a commander beside Xie Xingyuan, and before the bullet hit Xie Xingyuan, she fired another shot.

The bullet flew over the army towards the tower. Because of its speed, nobody even noticed until the bullet struck Xie Xingyuan’s forehead. As Xie Xingyuan fell, another bullet hit the commander.

Xie Xingyuan and his Deputy General fell one after another, causing shock and chaos among the people on the tower.

Below the tower, Qiao Shouye was momentarily stunned, not knowing what had happened.

Ye Zhi instantly understood what was happening and quickly said to Qiao Shouye, ”General, the enemy’s main general has been killed by General An, we should attack the city now!”

Only then did Qiao Shouye realize Xie Xingyuan was dead and immediately shouted, ”Xie Xingyuan is dead, let’s charge!”

The army of one hundred thousand behind them, upon hearing of Xie Xingyuan’s death, had their morale instantly boosted and charged the city with Qiao Shouye.

While Qiao Shouye and his troops were attacking the city, four hundred masked attackers in black, wielding exceptionally sharp long knives that glinted with a bloodthirsty cold light, approached the South Gate from different directions.

An Jing was planning to ride to the West Gate but saw these masked attackers and became concerned they might pose a threat to them.
