Chapter 1528: Chapter 1529 King of Peace

Su Chengyu sat on the Dragon Chair, first accepting the kneeling of the officials below before speaking a few words to convey the idea that the soldiers had crushed Chilin and returned victorious, which greatly pleased him, and that he would assess merits and bestow rewards.

The first to be granted an honor was An Jing.

Only the eunuch could be heard, holding the imperial edict, loudly declaring, ”General An is proficient in both civil and military affairs, having achieved countless merits. Before becoming an official, she did many things beneficial to the people. During her time as an Agricultural Official, she did even more, greatly benefiting the masses. After crushing Chilin, her achievements are undeniable. Therefore, she is bestowed the title of King of Peace, and she can forego formalities when meeting the Emperor and the Kings, hoping for peace in Xiyun for generations.”

Regarding being bestowed the title ’King of Peace’, An Jing received a letter from Su Chengyu on her way back to the Imperial Capital, which mentioned this matter, so at this moment, An Jing was not at all surprised.

Others, however, were quite astonished. It should be known that in history, no woman had ever been granted a king’s title.

However, everyone thought that Su Chengyu had always been so daring in leading the way for the world, first strongly recommending An Jing, a woman, to become an official, and then allowing women to join the military... and so on. Therefore, everyone was only surprised for a moment before accepting it. In any case, opposing it would be useless, so it’s better to accept it.

Furthermore, An Jing’s merits were indeed significant, and besides the fact that An Jing was a woman, there was no reason against bestowing her the title of King of Peace.

Moreover, An Jing was already a Queen, so this was just another title as a king from a different family name. They could accept it, really they could.

Next, Qi Tengfei was granted the title Marquis of Zhongyong, Liu Buli the title Duke of Righteous Valor, Qiao Shouye became General of Eternal Peace, Meng Lanqing became General of Eternal Stability, Meng Zhuqing became General of Eternal Prosperity, Qi Gaoda became General of Benevolence and Justice, and Qi Weimeng became General of Righteous Benevolence.

Du Aya and Li Wuyu became Deputy Generals; Su Chengyuan, Shi Shi, and Tobanya became Chiliarchs; Baoqin, Lie Qi, Ting Shu, Shi Hua, and Liu Feifei became Centurions.

Because Liu Feifei identified the enemy’s spy, performing a noteworthy deed, she was also granted the title of County Princess.

And so on.

Qiao Shouye never thought he could become a Great General in his lifetime, and his elderly eyes turned red at once.

Basically, all those who contributed to the conquest of Xi Lin were promoted and titled, except for Ye Zhi, Gong Juechen, and Gong Juese, who were not promoted or titled but received many rewards.

It can be said that the rewards they received were more than what others received combined.

Because of this, no one found any issues within them.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi felt a bit troubled. Su Chengyu still did not trust Gong Juechen, and even Ye Zhi was implicated, receiving only rewards without any promotion.

If Ye Zhi had not been implicated, she would surely have been given a general’s title like Qi Gaoda and the others.

Ye Zhi herself didn’t mind; she was just used to life in the military, and whether or not she became a general didn’t matter to her.

Gong Juechen actually anticipated that Su Chengyu wouldn’t allow Ye Zhi to become a general. After all, Ye Zhi was to return to the Capital to marry him, and their relationship had never been hidden, so such a thing could not escape Su Chengyu, the Emperor’s, knowledge. But now, seeing that Ye Zhi only received rewards and was not given a general’s title, Gong Juechen still felt somewhat dissatisfied in his heart.

Feeling even more distressed for his future wife.

His Zhizhi had risked her life for Xiyun so many times, even nearly dying, and yet, because of him, Su Chengyu would not give his Zhizhi a general’s title.

Though a small general’s title was nothing in his eyes, for Su Chengyu to be so unfair to his Zhizhi indeed aggrieved him.
