Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1507: Chapter 1508: Shooting

Understand this, a bullet at the right time might take the life of a key enemy commander.

...

The day of the attack on the Imperial City of Chilin coincided with the fifteenth of August.

Xiao Changyi and his forces numbered five hundred thousand in total; Xiao Changyi led one hundred fifty thousand to attack the East Gate, Qiao Shouye led one hundred thousand to attack the South Gate, Qi Tengfei led one hundred thousand to attack the West Gate, Liu Buli led one hundred thousand to attack the North Gate, and the remaining fifty thousand stayed in the military camp, ready to reinforce at any moment.

An Jing, acting as a sniper, managed herself and was not under anyone’s command.

Because stones were too heavy and inconvenient to transport to the siege location, they couldn’t be used in the siege. However, some stones could be brought to break down the city gates, so each commander brought one catapult and a cartload of stones.

Battering rams, siege ladders, bridges twenty-five meters long to cross the moat... these siege tools were all prepared by each faction.

An Jing first followed Xiao Changyi to the East Gate of the Chilin Imperial City, but she stayed at the rear of the army.

About fifteen hundred meters from the East Gate of the Chilin Imperial City, there were some trees. An Jing was covered by the army and climbed one of the trees with her sniper rifle.

The maximum effective range of the sniper rifle in her hand was two thousand meters; from here, barring any unexpected events, she should be able to hit the target.

Xiao Changyi, however, stopped the army three hundred meters from the East Gate of the Imperial City.

The people on the fortress at the East Gate of the Chilin Imperial City saw Xiao Changyi leading the army, and they quickly reported it to their East Gate commander—Great General Fan Youyun.

Fan Youyun rushed to the fortress, watching Xiao Changyi lead an army of one hundred fifty thousand closer and closer, finally stopping three hundred meters away, shields held high.

The distance was somewhat far, and with enemies raising their shields high, firing arrows at Xiao Changyi’s forces would be useless and a waste of arrows, so Fan Youyun did not immediately order to shoot.

However, the archers on the fortress were all ready, just waiting for Fan Youyun’s command to shoot at Xiao Changyi’s forces.

Xiao Changyi was not a man of many words, so the task of speaking with Fan Youyun was given to Meng Zhuqing.

Meng Zhuqing, also on horseback, was right behind and to the right of Xiao Changyi. Besides aiding his master in the siege, he had an additional task: keep Fan Youyun on the fortress for his lady.

Therefore, as soon as the army halted and upon seeing a general in battle armor hurriedly appear on the fortress, Meng Zhuqing loudly asked, ”Are you Great General Fan Youyun?”

”I am.” Fan Youyun immediately responded. ”And who might you be?”

Meng Zhuqing gestured for Fan Youyun to look at Xiao Changyi, ”This is our Great General Su Changyi, and I am General Meng Zhuqing under his command.”

”So you are Su Changyi.” Fan Youyun had not known Xiao Changyi until now, and he was very surprised, finding Xiao Changyi to be much younger than he had imagined.

He had long heard about the invincible Xiao Changyi, and he originally thought Xiao Changyi was at least in his forties or fifties.

At this moment, Fan Youyun had no idea that a person from afar was already aiming a sniper rifle at him.

An Jing didn’t hesitate; standing on the tree, her body leaning against the trunk, she aimed at Fan Youyun and, without wasting time, pulled the trigger, sending a bullet swiftly towards Fan Youyun at a speed invisible to the naked eye.

Bam.

The bullet struck right in the middle of Fan Youyun’s forehead. As he stood on the fortress, surprised and looking at Xiao Changyi, he was killed instantly and fell down.
