Chapter 1515: Chapter 1516: The Final Battle

Jiang Feisheng nodded and said, ”You’re absolutely right.”

What’s the purpose of defending this Imperial Palace, if not to protect their Emperor? And now that their Emperor is in such a state, the only option left is to fight Xiyun head-on. Otherwise, they can only watch as their Emperor dies.

Watch their Emperor die? That’s something they simply cannot do.

”There’s no time to waste. Pass down my order: leave five thousand soldiers to protect the Emperor, and have the rest follow me out of the palace. We must capture that army doctor alive to detoxify the Emperor.”

”Yes, Great General!” The Deputy General immediately hurried to carry out the command.

...

Two hours later, the gates of Chilin Imperial Palace opened in all directions, and the soldiers of Chilin inside the palace charged out.

Qi Weimeng was patrolling around the Imperial Palace, and as soon as he saw the gates of Chilin Imperial Palace open, he knew what was going to happen next. He quickly followed Xiao Changyi’s previous arrangement and turned to flee.

Xiao Changyi was watching from the small attic with binoculars and saw the main gate of Chilin Imperial Palace open, with Chilin soldiers rushing out. He immediately ordered the drums to signal the troops, but his strategy wasn’t to confront them directly. Instead, he ordered all the soldiers on the streets to hide inside the buildings.

Thanks to Xiao Changyi sharing his plan with everyone in advance, as soon as they heard the drums, everyone quickly ran into the buildings and shut the windows and doors.

Jiang Feisheng and his troops felt strange when they charged out of the palace, wondering why the soldiers of Xiyun were running away after seeing them.

They couldn’t believe that the soldiers of Xiyun were afraid of them—having fought their way to the Imperial City, even capturing its four gates, destroying their one hundred thousand soldiers—would they be afraid?

However, now finding a skilled doctor to save their Emperor’s life is urgent, even if it means charging to their death.

With that thought, Jiang Feisheng and some generals each led their troops from the east, south, west, and north directions into the area occupied by Xiyun.

When they arrived at places with buildings, the second-floor windows of those buildings opened, and countless flour was scattered down, covering them.

With the help of blowers, the flour flew in the air. An Jing, seeing it was almost time, immediately ordered, ”Release!”

The archers immediately shot arrows with fireballs toward the enemy, and the flour particles floating in the air ignited, causing an explosion that injured, killed, or sent fleeing the Chilin soldiers.

Seeing that the explosion was almost over and unlikely to occur again, An Jing’s side also beat the drums, the sound thunderous. Upon hearing it, everyone rushed out of the buildings, officially confronting the enemy and killing.

Even though only one or two thousand were injured or killed in the flour explosion, the Chilin soldiers were extremely panicked, which was very beneficial for the Xiyun soldiers in killing the enemy.

Some Chilin soldiers ran to the bottoms of the four city gates, where the Xiyun soldiers on the city towers immediately used stone catapults to launch rocks down, causing a large number of Chilin soldiers to die or be wounded.

Huge stones, like dark clouds, pressed down, utterly terrifying the Chilin soldiers.

On the rooftops and city towers, many archers were stationed separately. Having received orders, as soon as they saw the enemy, they shot, killing a large number of enemies.

An Jing did not join the army in fighting the enemy but returned to the small attic with a sniper rifle, lay down at the attic window, setting up the sniper rifle, and then An Jing focused her eyes through the sniper scope, looking for the figure of Jiang Feisheng, the Great General defending the city, to aim.

When she found a man riding a horse, wearing a Great General’s battle armor, sporting a horseshoe mustache, she immediately pulled the trigger.
