Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Xiaozhang Has Trouble Getting Married

’Is this woman treating me like some kind of genie? Making wishes?’

This gave Zhang Zhe a headache.

The woman even started to flatter him. ”Streamer, you’re from a professional marriage agency, and you’re a professional Matchmaker. You must have a way, right?”

”Anyone can calculate probabilities. The real test of your skills is increasing my chances of meeting someone like that, don’t you think?”

”Increasing the probability is useless,” Zhang Zhe said, not wanting to admit he was an unprofessional Matchmaker. ”If your own probability is one in ten thousand, adding one or two percentage points on the man’s side won’t make a difference at all.”

”I think you should focus on improving yourself first. ’Fragrant flowers attract bees,’ ever heard of that? If you become more outstanding yourself, you’ll naturally attract outstanding people. Then the odds won’t be so slim.”

”My chances aren’t that low!”

”You’re the one who thinks it’s one in ten thousand. If I were the one assessing it, it definitely wouldn’t be.”

”Not 100%, but at least 60%.”

It was unclear where the woman got her confidence from. She even offered a preliminary plan:

”I’m pretty good at handling men. If all else fails, I can be the one to initiate everything, get pregnant, and then we’ll have to get married. I’m sure I can lock him down.”

[Damn, this woman is a schemer.]

[Some handsome civil servant who looks like Wang Yibo is in for a real treat.]

[You know, you might be right. If the guy is a civil servant, her ’get pregnant first’ strategy might actually work, because he can’t afford the scandal.]

[The streamer is in a tough spot now.]

[I get the feeling the Zhuyin Marriage Agency has the resources for this.]

Zhang Zhe thought so too. If Boss He were here, she’d probably have a solution. After all, the Zhuyin Marriage Agency offered a service where they would find a partner for a fee.

As long as someone was willing to pay, they could find even the rarest type of man.

Of course, finding him was one thing. Whether a match could actually be made was another story.

It was only Zhang Zhe’s second day. He definitely didn’t have his boss’s abilities, nor did he know the agency’s resources.

Staring at the percentages on his whiteboard, he was truly at a loss for a moment.

Just then, a message came from his boss.

Zhang Zhe pretended to be thinking of a solution and quickly glanced down at his phone.

’That old lady really comes through in a pinch. She knows how crucial this stream is and is helping me come up with a plan in the nick of time... wait, what is this old hag talking about?’

Zhang Zhe had thought Boss He messaged him to help come up with a solution.

Who knew she was just going to make things worse.

The old woman said on WeChat:

”Xiaozhang, why are you being so discouraging? This girl’s desire to get married is so strong, and you’re about to crush it to the point where she doesn’t want to get married at all.”

’Listen to that. Is she even serious?’

’The woman is making wishes, of course her desire is strong! My desire to marry an 18-year-old Liu Yifei is even stronger, but what good is that?’

”The leader’s looking displeased. You’re a Matchmaker; you can’t just point out problems, you have to find solutions.”

”It’s normal for a young girl like her to have rose-colored glasses when it comes to civil service jobs. You should guide her properly, not just keep tearing her down.”

That last sentence made Zhang Zhe suspect the leader had typed it himself.

’This woman doesn’t just have rose-colored glasses about civil servants, she refuses to marry anyone who isn’t one.’

Wait. As this thought occurred to Zhang Zhe, his eyes suddenly lit up.

”I have a way to increase your odds.”

”What is it?” the woman on the other side asked, a hint of excitement in her voice. ”But it has to be something I can do. Nothing too expensive, either.”

”It has nothing to do with you. It mainly depends on whether there’s anyone who wants to solve the problem of young people struggling to get married these days.”

Zhang Zhe laid out his idea:

”Right now, 28 provinces in the country are extending marriage leave. In many places, they treat first and second marriages equally when it comes to taking time off. This shows that someone wants to solve the problem of us not being able to get married.”

”But the reason we’re not married isn’t because we’re afraid to ask for leave, it’s mainly because we can’t find a suitable partner.”

”Exactly!” the woman couldn’t help but agree.

Zhang Zhe’s own profile clearly stated he was also looking for a match, so when he said this, the woman instantly felt like he was on her side.

”So here’s the question: if that’s the case, why not expand the scale of matchmaking events?”

”You kindergarten teachers all want to find someone in the civil service, right?”

”Pretty much. All the single women at my kindergarten prefer to look for someone in the system.”

”What a coincidence. I’m sure the civil service guys would be happy to find kindergarten teachers, too. Because I’ve heard leaders say more than once that people shouldn’t be stereotyped because of their profession, and that we should help everyone discard their misconceptions about you.”

[Leader: Oh crap, he’s talking about me.]

[To be fair, I’ve actually heard a certain leader say that before.]

[He was just saying it. You actually took him seriously?]

[The streamer is full of positive energy! Support the streamer!]

[He’s not wrong in principle, I just wonder if the bros in the civil service actually think that way.]

”As it happens, I know that some leaders pay close attention to our livestream and often watch our agency’s broadcasts.”

Zhang Zhe cleared his throat and said with great solemnity:

”I hope that any leaders watching our stream, regardless of their department, will seriously consider this: shouldn’t you organize more matchmaking events for the eligible young men in your units and groups who have trouble finding partners, like kindergarten teachers?”

”Our marriage agency would be more than happy to provide our services pro bono.”

”If that happens, the ’civil servant + 200,000 annual income’ factor will instantly jump to 50%.”

Zhang Zhe crossed out the low probability from before and wrote a new one:

”If you participate in an event like this, meeting a civil servant is a 100% certainty. After that, you only need to look at their income—either it’s 200,000, or it’s not.”

...

In the monitoring room next to the livestream studio.

The three single young men who had come with the leader all broke out in a cold sweat internally.

’The leader has to be wise! Don’t listen to this streamer’s crazy talk!’

’We’re on our knees!’

The reason they were still single was precisely because marriage was an important resource. While they might not expect to reach the heavens in a single bound through marriage, finding a civil servant who was an only daughter and inheriting the Yue Family’s resources was a foreseeable maneuver.

If they were really forced into an arranged matchmaking event, they’d have to go home and start planning a flash marriage today.

”Leader, what do you think of Xiaozhang’s method?” Boss He asked, looking cautiously at the middle-aged man in front of her.

She knew full well that the leader’s daughter was a teacher at a certain kindergarten—one with a permanent position—and she was also unmarried.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had such a strong reaction to the livestream comments about the ”three types of women not to marry,” and he wouldn’t have been constantly hinting that a matchmaking streamer should guide the audience toward a proper view of marriage and relationships.

”I think... this matchmaking event idea is worth looking into.”

”However, our single unit has too few bachelors. There aren’t enough to go around.”

”I think the scope could be expanded a bit. For example, expand it to the entire city.”

”Teacher He, you were the first Matchmaker from our city to be on a provincial program, and you’re also a veteran Party member. Can you push this forward?”

”Consider it helping out young people like Xiaozhang who are having trouble getting married.”

”I... I can try?” Boss He swallowed nervously.

’Damn, this is a huge undertaking. The leader’s ambitions are quite large.’

And the leader had specifically mentioned Xiaozhang.

Boss He glanced at Zhang Zhe, who was still livestreaming. ’In that case, Zhang Zhe must participate in this event!’
