Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: The Probability is a Bit Low

What does Wang Yibo even look like?

For a moment, Zhang Zhe honestly couldn’t recall the male celebrity’s face.

But he didn’t need to think too hard to know the guy was definitely a total stud.

Besides, this woman was clearly a Wang Yibo fan. He had another perfect subject for his fan profiling. Hahaha.

Zhang Zhe could already imagine the comment section if he made a clip out of this.

[LMAO, even Wang Yibo himself doesn’t meet her requirements because he’s not a government employee.]

[A civil servant with an annual income of 200k+? That’s gotta be a bureau chief, right?]

[Guys with those stats who are also government employees? Would they even be on the market? They’d have been snapped up internally long ago.]

[I feel the need to reiterate my principles at this time.]

[Younger kindergarten teachers are fine, at least they have their youth. But an older one? Whoever marries her is in for a real treat.]

”Why is the stream chat in 2025 still so biased against us kindergarten teachers? I’m so done.”

”You’re slandering an entire profession.”

”How are we kindergarten teachers childish? Then why aren’t elementary school teachers childish? Are elementary school students supposed to be mature?”

Zhang Zhe really wanted to tell her: ’Just drop it. It’s a losing battle.’

Someone in the stream chat was a step ahead and seemed to have figured out the truth.

The reason the guys on the forums lump kindergarten teachers into that category is mainly that they think the profession has low income and that the teachers are childish from spending all day with kids.

At the same time, since their colleagues are almost all women, they’re prone to comparing themselves to each other, which makes being their family member exhausting.

Just as Zhang Zhe was thinking about how to reason with her, his phone suddenly vibrated.

He glanced down and saw a message from Boss He:

”Management wants you to guide the conversation a bit.”

Zhang Zhe nodded. ’Fair enough. The boss is wise.’

But as soon as he looked up:

[Mid-value Intel]

[Yu Yajing has had two relationships that were close to marriage, but both ended in arguments after she blindly competed with her colleagues and, as a result, grew to despise her partner’s family background.

Her requirements for a potential partner are primarily based on him being more outstanding than her colleagues’ husbands.

Women who love to compare have cognitive flaws. If the host is willing, patient and methodical guidance has a chance of helping her change this bad habit.]

’Patient and methodical guidance, my ass! They want me to ”guide” her... ’

Zhang Zhe thought to himself that the system must think he was some enlightened monk. Was this a ”save others, save yourself” kind of deal?

’No thanks. Society has been trying to educate her for over 30 years and failed.’

’Who has the time or energy to save her? Am I trying to accumulate karma to run for city god?’

”Miss, please calm down for a moment.”

”Let’s say I’m a 30-year-old, 180cm tall, single young man who is a government employee with an annual income of 200,000.”

Hearing Zhang Zhe’s words, the woman finally calmed down a bit.

The stream chat had battered her confidence, and she asked in an uncertain tone:

”Host, the person you just described... they really exist, right?”

”Mhm, yes. People like that definitely exist.”

(At that moment, in the room next door, a certain single man suddenly sneezed.)

”So, can I find someone like that?”

”I’m not a fortune teller, I can’t predict that. But a comment just now gave me an idea. We can calculate the probability.”

Zhang Zhe pulled up the digital whiteboard on his computer, feeling more professional than ever, and started talking as he calculated:

”Let’s include all males in the country—old men, children, everyone. The percentage of them who are taller than 180cm... let’s say that’s 5%. That’s not unreasonable, right?”

”Same population. The percentage who are government employees with an annual income over 200,000—black, white, gray, as long as it’s income—all combined should account for about 2%.”

”Why only 2%?” The woman was showing her ignorance, seeming to have no idea about the actual income levels for civil servants.

An annual income of 200,000 for a government employee is considered high anywhere in the country.

She wasn’t actually an official public employee, so naturally, she wouldn’t know.

Zhang Zhe explained, ”I’m calculating the percentage of all males. Just getting into the civil service system makes you a minority. Then think about the number of people at the grassroots level. Is 2% not a lot?”

The woman thought for a moment, then nodded, admitting that Zhang Zhe had a point.

”Let’s continue.” Zhang Zhe wrote down the next condition: ”Looks like Wang Yibo, or is even more handsome. Can we put that at 2%?”

”No, that’s too many.” The woman refuted his claim. ”Wang Yibo is definitely in the top 1%. He’d be the most handsome out of a hundred people.”

”OK, you got it.”

”Stunningly handsome face like Wang Yibo: 1%.”

Zhang Zhe dutifully wrote it down without arguing.

He was afraid of getting flamed online.

”Now for the last condition. Men who are around 30, of marriageable age, and still not married. Their proportion among their peers...”

Staring at the string of single-digit percentages, her slow-moving brain finally realized something was off.

She interrupted again, ”They don’t have to be unmarried, right? I’m so outstanding...”

”Stop, stop, stop. You’re going after married men now? This is a positive-vibes stream. We don’t advocate for that kind of behavior here.”

”He has to be unmarried or divorced,” Zhang Zhe said righteously. ”Let’s just put this proportion at 5%.”

”Now, let’s calculate the final probability.”

”Hold on, let me use my calculator...”

”Got it. The man you’re looking for makes up 0.5 in a million of the entire male population. In other words, you’d find one in every two million men.”

[That ratio can’t be right. How can there be so many?]

[I feel like he missed a zero. One in twenty million sounds more like it.]

[Fun fact: the odds of winning the second prize in the Powerball lottery is about one in a million.]

[This is the calculation for independent factors, but some of these factors actually influence each other.]

Looking at the percentages on Zhang Zhe’s whiteboard, the woman was surprisingly calm. ”No wonder I’m still single. My standards are too high, huh.”

”Don’t be hasty, I’m not done yet.”

”There’s more to calculate?” Her breath hitched. ”I don’t have any other requirements. And I think that probability seems pretty normal.”

”We have to.” Zhang Zhe said seriously, ”Matchmaking is a two-way street. We just calculated the proportion of the kind of man you want in the total population. We haven’t calculated the proportion on your end yet.”

”The probability that this outstanding man, chosen from two million people, would be interested in you is...”

Zhang Zhe didn’t rush to speak. Instead, he moved the mouse in a circle on the whiteboard.

As luck would have it, the curve closed perfectly.

”Whoa, it’s zero!”

”Come on, let’s do the math. What’s 0.5 in a million, multiplied by zero...”

”You don’t have to calculate it!” the woman interrupted angrily. ”It can’t be zero. Even a pig would find someone to like it. How could it possibly be zero?”

[It’s not really zero. The host didn’t account for the probability that the man has mental problems.]

[I think it’s 50%. Either he’s into her or he’s not.]

[Let’s be rigorous here. I’d say one in ten thousand.]

[One in ten thousand seems about right. Gotta let her win the lottery at least once, right?]

Zhang Zhe thought the chat had a point. A probability of zero was a bit insulting. So, one in ten thousand it was.

Multiplying the two probabilities, the chances of them hitting it off came to a delightful one in twenty billion.

Fun fact: The cumulative number of humans who have ever lived on Earth is around 100 billion, spanning a period from 5 million years ago to the present.

”It’s okay, at least there’s a chance.” Zhang Zhe’s hand was getting sore from writing all the zeros. ”I’ve already calculated your chances for you.”

”Do you still want to continue with matchmaking?”

”Yes!”

”I think... maybe my standards have gone up.” The woman hadn’t lost hope yet; she was still fighting. ”Host, is there any way you can help me improve my odds?”
