Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: A Streamer Full of Contrasts

’These viewers think I’m such a bad guy. I’m a great person, staying up late to chat with a girl.’

’And I’m not even after anything.’

’Alright, miss, let’s have a chat. Did you see my profile earlier today? Do you want me to introduce myself?’

The only drawback to streaming from a phone was that it was inconvenient to display subtitles on the screen.

Luckily, there were plenty of helpful people in the stream. The live comments, one after another, helped spell out Zhang Zhe’s situation clearly.

[The host is a misogynist.]

[He’s 30 and not married, there might be something wrong with his body. Be careful, girl.]

[This guy was a programmer. He got laid off, and that’s why he became a Matchmaker.]

[The host already scared off seven or eight girls today. They all came in smiling and left gritting their teeth. You can figure out the rest.]

”My situation is more or less what the live comments are saying.”

”The only thing I need to clarify is that my body is in great shape, not a single thing wrong with it. I’m the type that rich older women would drool over.”

”How about you, miss?”

”I... my situation isn’t as good as yours.” The girl on the call sounded very dejected. If you could describe her expression in one word, it would be ”glum.”

”I’m about five-foot-one, and I weigh 118 pounds. I work out, so I have a bit of muscle.”

The moment she started talking, she revealed quite a lot.

Someone who knew her weight down to the pound described her height with ”about”?

It was obvious she wasn’t actually five-foot-one. She was probably just over five feet tall, or maybe not even that.

At that height, if she were thin, she could be mistaken for a middle schooler in a crowd. If she were a bit heavier, she’d be a potato mine.

She was clearly the latter.

She was extremely conscious of her height and weight, understanding her disadvantages in the dating market. That’s why she worked out and was so precise about her weight.

”How long have you been working out?”

”It’s been about seven years.”

”Are you into fitness, or bodybuilding?”

”Fitness is just going for a run after work, maybe lifting some dumbbells for a photo op. Bodybuilding is the Ah Nu type, with the peaked biceps.”

Back when Zhang Zhe was in college, there was a girl at his school who was into bodybuilding. According to his classmates, she would inject herself with testosterone to build muscle and ended up growing chest hair.

The thought of it was just unsettling.

”I’m just into fitness, all-natural.” Her expression was sincere when she said this. And while her face didn’t have much fat, it wasn’t overly masculine either, so she probably wasn’t on anything. ”I mostly focus on glutes and legs, a lot of strength training.”

”That sounds fine. Good enough for matchmaking.” Zhang Zhe nodded, signaling for her to continue. ”So what’s making you doubt whether you should even be trying to find a match?”

”It might be my relationship history.”

[Did you run into a scumbag?]

[Probably got dumped out of the blue.]

[Talking about your relationship history during a matchmaking session? This girl isn’t too bright.]

[Probably found a boyfriend at the gym, right? And he dumped her when a better option came along.]

[This girl is short and stocky, it was never going to be easy for her to find someone.]

Zhang Zhe looked at the girl’s expression as she spoke. She looked like she was about to fall apart. She’d probably hit a major roadblock, the kind you can’t just get over.

He originally thought they could skip over her relationship history.

Now, he had to hear it.

But first, Zhang Zhe asked, ”How old are you?”

”Twenty-nine, about to turn thirty.”

”I see. That’s definitely the time to start thinking about settling down. I’m thirty myself, and I can clearly feel that once you hit this age, it’s like the whole world is in a hurry for you to get married.”

”Yes, yes, yes, me too.” The girl nodded repeatedly. ”My parents are really anxious too. It’s mainly that the people I’ve met before weren’t great.”

”I’ve been in three relationships in total.”

”The first one started when I graduated from college. He was my age, and we dated for three and a half years. We’d even met each other’s parents. Then one day, out of the blue, he went back to his ex-girlfriend, saying his heart still belonged to his Bai Yueguang.”

”After that experience, I started to lose my faith in men.”

”The second was with an older guy from Jiangning. He was eight years older than me. As we dated, we found the age gap was a bit too wide, so we broke up.”

”The last one was with a student. He was a grad student in Shenghai. He told me he was going to take the civil service exams to get a stable job and stay in Shenghai with me. But after he graduated, he didn’t take them and just went straight back to his hometown.”

[What kind of guys has she been dating?]

[I feel for her. If I ran into these guys, I’d have doubts about love too.]

[It’s not your fault, sis. You just had bad luck with men.]

[This girl is extremely self-centered.]

As the girl on the other end of the video call spoke, her voice started to change, catching slightly with a sob. She sounded deeply wronged.

Over here, Zhang Zhe’s expression was complicated after hearing her three relationship stories.

She was glossing over so much.

She was painting way too rosy a picture of herself.

While she was describing her relationship history, the system had been spitting out intel non-stop.

Even though it was all [Low-Value Intel], it contained the whole truth.

[Your matchmaking target, Zhou Yue, broke up with her first love because they couldn’t agree on the bride price and dowry. Zhou Yue’s parents demanded the man buy a house in Shenghai with cash, which was impossible for a recent college graduate.]

[Zhou Yue’s second breakup happened because she couldn’t accept her boyfriend’s daughter. She originally thought she could be a stepmother, but she and the daughter didn’t get along. Every meeting ended in an argument, so they had to break up.]

[Zhou Yue’s most recent breakup occurred because her boyfriend failed the civil service exams. They had a huge fight and parted on bad terms.]

Comparing the intel with what the girl had said...

Zhang Zhe had a completely new understanding of the girl on the other side of the video call.

He also gained a profound understanding of the phrase, ”you can’t pass judgment without knowing the whole story.”

One of the viewers was actually quite clear-headed. Instead of immediately taking a side, they had offered the conclusion that ”the girl is extremely self-centered.”

’Looking at it with my intel, how could that not be the case?’

”Let me share my thoughts after hearing all that.”

Zhang Zhe gathered his thoughts. This girl wanted a wake-up call. While he wouldn’t actually yell at her, some things definitely had to be said sharply.

”Listening to these three stories, you’ve consistently viewed things with a victim mentality, as if all three of your ex-boyfriends held a grudge against you from a past life and came back in this one just to get revenge.”

”The chances of that aren’t zero, but they’re very, very slim.”

”Just like the comment said, you’re extremely self-centered. The fault is always someone else’s; you’re never in the wrong. Maybe you really weren’t at fault, but looking at your choices, it’s clear you haven’t learned any lessons.”

”Especially that last relationship. You’ve been working for how many years, and you still went for a graduate student? What were you after, his youth? Youth inevitably means instability. Couldn’t you realize that?”

”You know your own situation better than I do. At your age, you chose to date someone unstable, and then you blame him for not keeping his promise. Other than making yourself feel a little better, it’s completely meaningless.”

”You’re just paying the price for your own bad choices.”

[Damn, the host is good. His analysis is spot on.]

[I knew something was off about this girl. Now that I hear it, it’s true. She has this whole ’I’ve been wronged’ attitude, but the problem is that she’s choosing the wrong people.]

[This girl is just plain clueless.]

”I... I might really be the problem.”

Zhang Zhe’s words made the girl lower her head, her expression growing even more downcast.

”But I don’t know where the problem is. No one around me has ever told me any of this.”

”You can’t always be relying on other people.” For the first time, Zhang Zhe felt his vision go dark just listening to someone speak. This girl was truly fumbling in the dark. ”You have to figure things out for yourself. Summarize and categorize what kind of person suits you and what kind doesn’t.”

”Right now, it feels like you’re just using a brute-force method, trying out every different type of guy: a peer, an older man, a student.”

”Well, you’re in luck then. If there’s one thing guys have plenty of, it’s types. There are also abusive men, mama’s boys, freeloaders, PUA artists, domineering CEO types...”
