Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Why Did I Fall For You?

After learning the prices from the bullet comments, Zhang Zhe immediately put his new knowledge to use and asked Little Clamp:

”So, I just need to spend 20,000 on a used A6, and that’ll do it, right?”

”Huh? A used one? You can do that?”

”That’s what your requirement implies.”

”Then... in that case, I want a 500,000 yuan car for daily use, and it has to be brand new.”

”No problem.” Zhang Zhe nodded. ”Making a wish like that—no, stating a requirement like that is much clearer.”

”Any other requirements?”

”Yes. I hope the guy can be a bit more mature and reliable. Someone who looks as young and baby-faced as you, streamer, isn’t my type. It doesn’t give me a sense of security.”

”I’ve dated a very handsome boyfriend before. I loved his looks, but I later found out he wasn’t the type you could build a life with. So, he must be mature.”

”Okay, but I have to add something,” Zhang Zhe explained to the camera. ”Although I’m young and handsome, I’m actually very much the type you can build a life with, unlike this young lady’s ex-boyfriend.”

”Anything else?”

”Let me think...”

”Let’s add one more thing. He needs to be able to guide me and take care of me. Even though I’m already 26, I’m actually a bit childish on the inside. I hope my partner can help me grow.”

”Okay, that’s all.”

Little Clamp waited with some anticipation for Zhang Zhe’s reaction.

Zhang Zhe glanced at his notepad.

The persona he was working with was: a middle-aged man with a house, a car, and a total net worth of no less than 3 million. He is mature, reliable, able to take care of his partner, and willing to grow together as a couple.

And his prospective match was: a little fatty who had been lazing around at home for four years while supposedly studying for civil service exams, loves to eat but hates to work, enjoys playing video games, and has no special skills whatsoever.

A simple comparison of the two showed they were a complete mismatch.

’I’d have to be crazy to look for a wife like that.’

”I don’t think this will work.” Zhang Zhe shook his head, his expression serious. ”Our circumstances are too different. We’re not a good match.”

”Why not?” Little Clamp asked, a little indignantly.

”It’s simple. For a persona like me,” Zhang Zhe pointed to the contents of his notepad, ”what would I get out of marrying you?”

”For your 500,000 yuan house? That’s the same price as my car.”

[Exactly! This girl is completely delusional.]

[That resettlement house is just bait. Her parents are probably afraid she’ll never get married.]

[He’d be in it for her peak curvy body, of course.]

”Matchmaking isn’t all about money, is it?” Little Clamp said stubbornly. ”My looks and my figure are my strengths! And I have a great personality.”

”Aren’t you looking for a daddy-type boyfriend?” Zhang Zhe retorted.

”Yeah, so what?”

”Do you think your own father would pursue a woman, let alone marry her, just because she has a nice body and a cute face, ignoring all her other qualities?”

”Anyone with a normal level of intelligence wouldn’t, right?”

”...” Little Clamp struggled with the thought for a moment and didn’t answer.

The act of not answering was, in itself, an answer.

A bored, rich kid from a wealthy family might get baited by Little Clamp while gaming. Unable to control his urges, he might think, ’Well, I’m already here,’ even after discovering she’s a little fatty in person.

But the daddy-type boyfriend Little Clamp was wishing for definitely wouldn’t.

”I just put myself in my character’s shoes for a moment.”

Zhang Zhe told her very responsibly:

”If I were a mature, stable, daddy-type boyfriend with a net worth of several million, and someone like you was lying in my bed, all dolled up, I would just threaten to call the police to make you leave. Stay the hell away from me.”

[Hahahaha!]

[Streamer, you’re so savage!]

[Hate to say it, but he’s right.]

[This girl isn’t very bright. No wonder she can’t pass the civil service exam.]

”You...” Little Clamp got flustered. ”That’s way too harsh.”

”I’m not as bad as you make me sound! I have guys pursuing me, you know?”

”It’s normal to have suitors,” Zhang Zhe told her matter-of-factly. ”In your situation, you only have two choices.”

”One, lower your standards...”

”No way! These are my requirements, and I won’t lower them!” Little Clamp decisively rejected his suggestion.

Zhang Zhe was prepared for this.

It was like trying to convince someone who buys a lottery ticket every day to stop hoping to win and just save their money honestly instead.

They would never listen.

”Then that only leaves the second option.”

”Go look in real life. Expand your social circle, or have your parents find an acquaintance to act as a go-between and make introductions for you.”

”And I’ll be able to find someone that way?” Little Clamp asked excitedly.

”No. That way, you’ll be forced to face reality.”

”When an elder in your family finds an acquaintance to act as a matchmaker, if you’re lucky and they’re reliable, they’ll look within their circle for the best person you could possibly marry up to. Then you’ll know where your ceiling is.”

”But in the open matchmaking market, where there are too many people competing, the person you can actually land won’t even reach that ceiling.”

What Zhang Zhe was saying was the voice of experience from a veteran Matchmaker at the Zhuyin Marriage Agency.

In reality, for many people who manage to marry up, aside from just getting incredibly lucky, it usually happens in one of two ways: they start early, or they get an introduction from an acquaintance.

Starting early means finding someone while you’re still in school.

Introductions from acquaintances are a way for elders or the family to cash in on their social connections.

Open matchmaking involves neither of these scenarios, which is why Little Clamp was basically just making a wish.

Unfortunately, Little Clamp didn’t listen to a single one of Zhang Zhe’s pearls of wisdom. She took off when he was only halfway through speaking.

[She got triggered.]

[Streamer, you made her face reality. How could you be so mean?]

[This girl must have just woken up. She’s probably still half asleep.]

[Are all Matchmakers this aggressive nowadays? Scaring off all the clients?]

[A young guy as a Matchmaker is so direct. I like it.]

In truth, a truly responsible Matchmaker has always been someone who isn’t afraid to speak their mind.

Zhang Zhe’s style of just sticking to the facts was actually considered quite conservative.

It’s just that there are so many unreasonable ”princesses” these days that most people adopt a ’can’t afford to offend them, so I’ll just avoid them’ mentality. In contrast, this made Zhang Zhe seem very brave.

It was a style that some people hated and others loved.

As luck would have it, Zhang Zhe soon encountered a girl who liked his style.

”Hello, streamer.”

The girl who joined the call this time had a gentle aura. You could tell right away that it wasn’t an act; she was genuinely gentle.

”Hello,” Zhang Zhe replied, his demeanor unchanged.

’A gentle voice means nothing.’ A friend of his had fallen for that trap before. Over the internet, you never know if someone’s voice is naturally delicate or if it’s just fat pressing on their vocal cords.

”Which service will you be choosing?”

”I’ll choose Service B.”

”Why?” Zhang Zhe smiled at the camera.

[Hahaha, another one who’s not interested in the streamer.]

[Your profile is too good to be true, they don’t believe it.]

[Would a normal girl look to marry a male streamer anyway?]

”Because my family is quite well-off, and they’d prefer I find someone of similar social standing,” the gentle-voiced girl said calmly. ”My family’s assets are about at the A9.5 level.”

A9.5?

Zhang Zhe subconsciously glanced at his chart.

’Does that mean her family has assets worth 500 million?’

’Holy crap! Is a rich lady here?’

”What’s with all the shock in the comments? Can’t you guys have some ambition?” Zhang Zhe said, looking at the bullet comments that were going wild. ”Look at you all, acting like you’ve never seen the world. We’re the Zhuyin Marriage Agency, the best matchmaking service in the city. Isn’t it normal for wealthy people to come to us?”

Diamond Matchmaker Aunt Wang: [How come I didn’t know about something this big?]

Golden Matchmaker Sister Lin: [The new kid has some serious skills.]

Silver Matchmaker Chenchen: [We have to land this client!]

The bullet comments from his colleagues flashed across the screen, but Zhang Zhe paid them no mind.

He was more curious about how the daughter of a tycoon with this kind of net worth ended up on the matchmaking market.
