Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Matchmaker’s Enveloping Hand

「The next evening.」

To ensure he looked his best and had good energy for the live stream, Zhang Zhe made sure to take a longer afternoon nap.

After waking up, it was soon time for the scheduled matchmaking session.

It was in the same live stream room as yesterday.

Li Erniang was very professional. She first introduced Zhang Zhe’s basic information to the live stream room, and only after finishing did she make a special WeChat call to invite him to join the stream.

Zhang Zhe didn’t hesitate. Looking full of energy, he turned on his camera. ”Good evening, Li Erniang.”

”Hey, handsome.” Li Erniang greeted him, then likely addressed the audience in the stream. ”This is the young man you were all talking about yesterday, the one you wanted to see on stream a second time.”

”Thirty years old, single, and never married.”

”Where are all of you who were clamoring to get on the stream yesterday? Come on, show me your sincerity.”

The moment she finished speaking, Zhang Zhe saw a Carnival gift float across the screen.

That was a very expensive gift on TikTok.

It was the kind of pricey item you send to female streamers for... ”mysterious rewards.”

’Is this person sending gifts for me?’ Zhang Zhe wondered.

”Thank you to my Sister Qianqian for the Carnival! Come on, Sister Qianqian, get on the stream.”

Li Erniang clearly recognized the account that sent the Carnival. After thanking them for the gift, she explained to Zhang Zhe:

”This is a famous female entrepreneur from our area.”

”You can just call her Sister Qian.”

”Oh, okay.” Zhang Zhe nodded and glanced at the live comments, wanting to know what was going on.

As expected, some regular viewers in the comments revealed a bit of information:

[Why is it an old woman again?]

[I wonder if this guy likes rich older women. If he does, he’s in for a treat.]

[I love these rich old women. They give you money and know how to dote on you.]

[So Sister Qianqian likes this type of toyboy, huh.]

It seemed this rich woman called Sister Qian was a regular in the live stream room.

A sense of foreboding suddenly rose in Zhang Zhe’s heart.

’What kind of decent person would be a regular in a Matchmaking Live Stream Room?’

As far as he knew, it could only be a ”short-term option” specialist.

”Short-term option” was a common term these days, the opposite of a ”long-term option.” It referred to men and women who chose short-term romantic relationships with no long-term plans.

To put it more bluntly, they were just looking for a short-term f-buddy.

It was just cloaked in the guise of romance. Compared to a typical hookup, it involved the romance, passion, and hormonal rush of being in love.

But there was absolutely no marriage involved.

Zhang Zhe had a very clear understanding of himself. He knew he didn’t have the endurance to handle a sugar mama’s... demanding tastes. Therefore, this Sister Qian was not his kind of person.

”Li Erniang,” Zhang Zhe spoke up to remind her, ”I’m here for a matchmaking session.”

”Not to find a short-term relationship.”

”I’m here for matchmaking too,” the woman called Sister Qian said as she joined the stream, her voice somewhat coquettish. ”The reason I paid to get on is that you look like my first love.”

’First love? Yeah, right.’

Just as Zhang Zhe was about to question her, he suddenly saw the familiar red exclamation mark appear.

But it wasn’t an intelligence report that appeared this time.

[Warning!]

[Warning! The Host’s current matchmaking target, Tang Qianqian, has impure motives and has no intention of getting married. She only sees the Host as a target for her amusement. Please remain rational at all times and do not be tempted by the conditions she offers.]

[If the Host decides to become a kept man, the System can convert to Kept Man Mode and help you find high-quality sugar mama resources.]

[Convert immediately?]

”Convert my ass!” Zhang Zhe almost laughed in exasperation at his own system.

He knew his own limits very well. Being a kept man was not a meal you could eat without some real talent for it.

”Handsome, didn’t you say yesterday you don’t have a marital home?”

”I have apartments! Three of them, in fact, all in the city center. If we start dating, we can rotate between them.”

”I have cars, too. Mercedes, BMW, Tesla—which brand do you prefer?” Every word Sister Qian said was incredibly tempting.

But this woman was actually very shrewd. She was just showing off her assets but never once mentioned her requirements for Zhang Zhe.

’If I really go for it, she might just shove a ball gag in my mouth.’

”Ma’am, I’m not interested in any of that. I don’t think we’re a good match. Why don’t you talk to someone else?”

If Zhang Zhe weren’t still holding out hope for the subsequent matches, he would have left the stream right then and there.

’This woman is a real pervert.’

’She almost made my system mutate.’

”Oh, come on. If you’re not interested in cars and houses...”

”We could also start a small business together. I’ll put up the capital, and we’ll split the profits fifty-fifty...”

[Is Sister Qian for real? Did she really find that first-love feeling?]

[This woman is a total psycho.]

[From what I know about this guy, his values are very proper. He probably won’t agree.]

”No, thank you.” Zhang Zhe shook his head firmly. ”We’re not fated to be together.”

”Matchmaker, can you please remove this lady from the stream? Or should I leave?”

As soon as she heard Zhang Zhe wanted to leave, Li Erniang finally reacted. She stopped letting Sister Qian continue her crazy tirade, persuaded her for a bit, and then removed her from the stream.

Then, just like before, she asked who else in the live stream room wanted to connect.

She quickly received another gift.

The one who came on stream this time was a woman called President Liu.

...

「Half an hour later.」

Zhang Zhe turned off his phone and flopped onto his bed, feeling dejected.

Recalling the experience he just had, a lingering fear washed over him.

’Where on earth does Li Erniang find all these freaks and monsters for her live stream room?’

The first one, Sister Qian, was a small business owner looking for a toyboy.

The second, President Liu, was the vice general manager of a state-owned company. She wanted to find an honest husband for her daughter, who had just given birth to a son and was still in her postpartum confinement.

The third, Sister Wang, was the manager of a clothing store. She was divorced with a fourteen-year-old child and was interested in Zhang Zhe because she thought he could tutor her son to get into the city’s top high school.

The fourth, Ms. Sun, was the most outrageous. She was willing to put up money with Zhang Zhe to buy a marital home, but only on the condition that it was a property from a developer she specified.

The system’s intelligence revealed that she had already used the same trick to fool six men into buying homes at the property she was selling.

That’s right, she was just a real estate agent.

Zhang Zhe couldn’t take it anymore. He didn’t even say goodbye to Li Erniang and just fled the stream.

He had only ever heard of young couples with children or those who just got married becoming targets for all sorts of businesses to prey on.

He’d never heard of single men looking for a match being coveted by so many people with ulterior motives.

The key thing was, after all that effort, Zhang Zhe had only earned 1 Happiness Point.

It came from Sister Wang, the one with the child.

She had genuinely been there to find a match; it just didn’t work out.

The other three—one just playing around, one making a wish, and one trying to swindle him—were not normal people.

”Guys, why do I feel like I’m being controlled by the matchmaker’s heavy hand during these sessions?”

”Sigh, capitalism.”

Zhang Zhe couldn’t help but complain in his friends’ group chat:

”Is there any way to quickly go on dates with a lot of people while also guaranteeing they’re sincere candidates and filtering out all the ones with ulterior motives?”

A reply quickly appeared in the group:

”Bro, you making a wish to us or something?”

”That’s just how matchmakers are these days. They’re no different from agents.”

”Go to Kaifeng and find Wang Po. Or go on *If You Are The One* and state your terms on stage.”

Zhang Zhe thought the *If You Are The One* idea was pretty good.

But going on TV was still too slow.

It would take half a month of preparation for just a dozen or so female contestants. The total number of dates would only be around a dozen.

’In that case, why can’t I host my own live stream version of *If You Are The One*?’

’I’d be the sole male guest, and different women would come to the live stream room to have a matchmaking session with me.’

’They don’t necessarily have to find a match. Just by editing the footage of the session, they’d be advertising themselves.’

The more Zhang Zhe thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

He described his idea in the group chat.

”Bro, are you trying to cosplay or something? You’ll be cosplaying all sorts of men on dates?”

”Nice, nice. It sounds like you’d be a first-person matchmaker.”

”The idea’s really good, but why would people come to your live stream room? Are you going to pay them? But if you pay, what if the people who show up have impure motives?”
