Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A Hot Commodity in the Matchmaker’s Eyes

”But she has a master’s degree! That’s such a good education.”

”And you wouldn’t even have to support her parents. It’s hard to find someone like that on the dating market.”

”If I’d known, we shouldn’t have bought the car first. We should have secured the marriage house...”

Mrs. Zhang was muttering to herself at the doorway, so lost in thought that she didn’t even notice Zhang Zhe open the door.

”Mom, what are you mumbling about now?”

”You’re acting so spacey.”

”It’s all your father’s fault! He just had to buy a car. He should have listened to me and bought the marriage house first!”

”When did you ever say we should buy the marriage house first?” Father Zhang asked, clutching his thermos and frowning in confusion. ”Is your memory getting mixed up?”

”Alright, alright, this isn’t about the marriage house.”

Zhang Zhe knew if they kept talking, his parents would start bickering again. He decided to preemptively mediate:

”That woman with the master’s degree is really overweight. Besides, for someone her age to still be single, there must be something wrong with her.”

”You’re 30 and still single, aren’t you? I don’t see anything wrong with you.”

His mother didn’t hold back, leaving Zhang Zhe with no rebuttal.

Father Zhang, on the other hand, nodded in deep agreement.

”There’s a woman at my work with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from top-tier universities. She’s 36 and still not married. All she does is complain on her Moments feed every day. Seems like a bitter, lonely woman.”

”Whoever marries her is in for a real treat.”

”Exactly, that’s what I mean.” Zhang Zhe nodded eagerly. ”Dad’s right!”

”Hmph?”

Mrs. Zhang turned her head and shot someone a glare.

The glare was enough to make him quickly explain, ”I was just talking about an isolated case. Zhang Zhe, you need to do your own research before you have a right to an opinion. Don’t just believe one-sided stories.”

”Right, right. Next time for sure,” Zhang Zhe said, raising a hand in a mock oath.

The system helped him investigate thoroughly before every blind date.

So he felt no pressure at all making that promise.

”Sigh.” Mrs. Zhang knew her son well enough to know he was just humoring her. She sighed helplessly. ”Come on, let’s sit and talk. We should still talk about the house.”

”The house can wait,” Zhang Zhe interrupted. ”Mom, is your back still hurting?”

”Of course it hurts,” Mrs. Zhang answered instinctively. ”I have a herniated lumbar disc, it’s not like you don’t know...”

”Huh?”

’Wait, why does my back feel... less herniated?’

HISS—

Mrs. Zhang twisted her waist back and forth, left and right, growing more and more puzzled.

”My back feels unbelievably comfortable. It’s like I’m 30 again.”

”Could it be that the acupuncture is finally working?”

”Oh, dear. Then I misjudged that traditional Chinese medicine doctor. I even gave him a piece of my mind. Turns out it was effective after all, just slow to take effect...”

”Maybe it’s really healed. Mom, you should go to the hospital for a check-up when you have time.”

Zhang Zhe knew in his heart it was the Body Building Pill’s doing.

’It’s fine if Mom gives the credit to the doctor,’ he thought. ’As long as she’s actually better.’

As for his dad, his only chronic issue seemed to be rheumatism. The past few days had been filled with Sunny Day, so any change probably wouldn’t be obvious.

’In any case, this proves the pills from the system work. That’s enough.’

Although he’d managed to change the subject, Zhang Zhe couldn’t escape his fate of being dragged into the living room to discuss the marriage house.

Discussing a marriage house never meant just discussing the house.

Naturally, the conversation also covered the betrothal gift, the ”three golds,” and so on.

Zhang Zhe’s parents had already discussed it countless times. They had the general figures figured out; now they just needed to add Zhang Zhe’s own savings to the total.

By their calculations, if they didn’t sell their current apartment but sold the car, they could scrape together nearly 800,000 yuan.

That 800,000 was the money set aside for Zhang Zhe’s marriage.

It certainly wasn’t a huge amount. After all, in another province, it might not even be enough for the betrothal gift.

But it wasn’t a small sum either. If you saved 100,000 a year from working, it would take a full eight years to accumulate.

”There’s 400,000 in this card.” Father Zhang thrust a bank card into Zhang Zhe’s hand. ”A man with money in his pocket has confidence in his heart.”

”Take this time while you’re free to settle the most important event of your life.”

”It’s not too late to look for a job after you’re married.”

”Otherwise, if you wait until you’re ’optimized’ out of a job at 35, you won’t even be able to find work. You’ll just be burning through your savings. What woman would be willing to marry you then?”

”Yeah, I understand.” Zhang Zhe obediently took the card. He knew his parents would only be at ease once he accepted it.

He definitely wouldn’t spend this money.

’Are you kidding me? I have the system helping me now. If I still can’t get married, no amount of money will make a difference.’

’But even if I do get married, it won’t be right now.’

’I need to take advantage of the blind date rewards and milk this for all it’s worth. Who knows if the system will still be around after I get married?’

As for the money, Zhang Zhe felt it was much safer in his own hands than in his parents’.

Just like this time—if the topic of the marriage house hadn’t come up, his parents had been planning to act first and report later, buying a house next month.

’Buying a house right now? Isn’t that just asking to lose money?’

”Dad, Mom, don’t you worry.”

”For the entire next month, I won’t do anything else. I’ll throw myself completely into this whole blind date business.”

”Good, good.” Mrs. Zhang smiled, relieved. ”Hearing you say that puts us at ease. Your father and I were worried that you were really like those people online who’ve lost interest in the opposite sex.”

...

After dealing with his parents, Zhang Zhe went back to his room. The first thing he did was quickly open his phone and check the Matchmaker Li Erniang’s livestream channel.

To his disappointment, she had already ended the stream.

’She ended the stream at only 10 o’clock?’

’As expected, back in my hometown, everyone has a healthy schedule. They probably all go to bed by 11 PM at the absolute latest.’

It was still early, so Zhang Zhe had planned to look for other ways to find blind dates online.

But then he suddenly noticed someone had sent him a private message.

He opened it and saw it was from the matchmaker from just now, Li Erniang.

The message was brief:

”Mr. Zhang, if you’re still looking to go on blind dates, you can add my WeChat. I have several ladies here who are very interested in you and would like to get to know you.”

Zhang Zhe had never been on a blind date before, so he had no idea what a mixed bag the online dating market was.

He actually thought he’d run into a genuinely kind person.

He quickly added her on WeChat.

A short while later, Li Erniang accepted his friend request and, with the familiarity of an old friend, sent him a few voice messages.

”Good evening, handsome.”

”Are you in Qing City or Shencheng City right now? Most of the girls I have are local to Qing City. If you’re out of town, it would be best to make a trip back. It’s much easier to get to know someone face-to-face.”

”If you can’t come back, that’s fine too. You can chat online first.”

”Do you have any requirements for the woman? If it’s the same as before and you don’t have any, I can arrange a blind date for you tomorrow night?”

Li Erniang was a little too enthusiastic.

Zhang Zhe started to wonder if he was just so outstanding that a flood of women had taken an interest in him, blowing up the matchmaker’s DMs and causing this over-the-top reaction.

It made him feel like he was some kind of hot commodity.

He figured it was because he had revealed so little information online earlier.

Someone must have misunderstood and thought he was the perfect bachelor.

In the past, Zhang Zhe had tried meeting women through introductions from colleagues, but they were always either dissatisfied with his looks or his money.

He was far from being a hot commodity.

But since the matchmaker already had candidates waiting...

Zhang Zhe was definitely going to give it a try.

After all, it was a chance for another blind date.

”Okay, then I’ll have to trouble you to arrange the blind date for tomorrow night, Li Erniang.”
