Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: What Does a 7/10 Beauty Look Like?

Five hundred million. That’s a whole lot of money.

Honestly, even with his system, Zhang Zhe couldn’t guarantee he’d be able to earn that much in just a few years.

Accumulating wealth takes luck. If your luck is bad and some powerful man’s grandson decides he wants your money, all it might take is a simple, ”Grandpa, I want...” and you could just disappear.

That’s why every mega-rich family is basically a combination of unbelievable luck and exceptional ability.

’A daughter raised in a family like that can’t find a partner?’

Zhang Zhe figured she probably wasn’t bluffing. ’How bored would someone have to be to lie on a matchmaking livestream?’ There had to be more to the story.

”Ma’am, is that figure for your family’s assets genuine? If it is, then I believe you when you say you can’t find a match through my show.”

”If anything, that figure is an underestimate,” the woman said, her tone flat. ”My mother came from a wealthy family. My grandfather was the director of a state-owned factory, and our family’s fortune was made when it was privatized.”

[Her surname isn’t Liu, is it?]

[Gotta say, the path to wealth she described checks out.]

[I can only say it’s plausible. I have a relative who became a billionaire the same way, though he’s in prison now.]

”I see.” Convinced she wasn’t just pulling his leg, Zhang Zhe pulled over a registration form.

Boss He hadn’t actually asked him to fill out registrations.

These forms were just leftovers from the previous host, the Matchmaker; they hadn’t been prepared specifically for him.

But Zhang Zhe felt that, since he was representing a well-known matchmaking agency, he couldn’t just phone it in.

He needed to project a professional image to earn the audience’s goodwill, which would encourage other potential female guests to call in.

”Alright, let’s start by getting your basic information.”

”Let’s get your basic stats, like age and height.”

”I was born in 2000. I’m 173 cm tall and weigh 49 kilograms...”

Zhang Zhe had only asked for her basic stats, but the woman seemed to have already rehearsed her speech. The words came tumbling out as she continued on her own:

”My family situation is rather complicated.”

”I was born out of wedlock. My mother had me with another man. I have an older brother and sister, who are my mother’s children with my father...”

[???]

[So your mom cheated?]

[So she’s the illegitimate daughter of a rich family? This is getting ridiculous.]

[Her family being rich has nothing to do with her, right? Is she even going to inherit anything?]

[No wonder she has to resort to matchmaking. No one in her own social circle would be willing to marry her.]

Zhang Zhe knew the wealthy could live complicated lives—he’d even heard of families with three children who all had different last names. Still, now that he was actually faced with a caller like this, it took his brain a moment to process it all.

There are generally two scenarios for a child born out of wedlock.

Either the parents weren’t married yet, or it was the result of an extramarital affair.

This woman’s siblings—the ones born to her mother and father—were both older than her. This meant she was born after her parents were already married.

In other words, she was the product of her mother’s affair.

’Most men probably wouldn’t be able to accept a daughter with that kind of origin.’

However, the woman had mentioned her mother was the one from a wealthy family. That meant there was a high probability her legal father was either a kept man or it was a marriage of convenience between their families, with no deep affection between them.

Only that could explain why he would tolerate the existence of such a daughter.

Once he pieced the relationships together, the woman’s situation became much easier to understand.

She was the daughter of her mother’s lover. Anyone in their social circle who knew the truth would probably think twice before marrying her. ’What if she takes after her mother?’ they’d wonder.

”Given your situation, do your relatives or your parents’ friends know about it?” Zhang Zhe asked curiously.

He’d once encountered a woman who raised her son as her younger brother. It just went to show that a decade or two ago, when information didn’t spread so easily, it was possible to cover up a family’s dirty laundry.

”They probably know.”

”I was raised by my grandparents, and my parents only visited me occasionally. I didn’t get it when I was younger, but now I realize that if people knew, they’d probably assume there was something wrong with me.”

”Mm,” Zhang Zhe nodded. He basically agreed with her assessment.

”So, are you working now? And what are your personal assets, roughly?”

”In a situation like yours, the marriage market will largely ignore your family background and judge you as an individual, because the level of support you’d get from your family is too uncertain.”

”I understand that.” The woman was clear-headed. ”I personally own three properties and two cars, with a combined value of about 25 million.”

”Also, I’m currently a graduate student at a top-tier university. After I graduate, my mother plans to arrange a job for me at the family company.”

[Her mom really seems to love her.]

[Now that’s a truly wealthy person. She’s an A8 on her own.]

[Why bother with grad school if you’re that rich? She should just join the company and start raking it in.]

”Your profile is definitely far beyond the average person’s, which makes it difficult to find a match,” Zhang Zhe said, analyzing the notes he’d taken. ”You’re obviously not willing to settle for someone poorer than you, otherwise you wouldn’t be struggling with this.”

”Aside from money, what other advantages do you have?”

”Advantages... does being good-looking count?”

”Of course it counts. How good-looking?”

”Without makeup, I’d say I’m about a 7 out of 10.”

”A 7?” Zhang Zhe frowned. ”Do you know what a 7 means? That’s at least campus belle level, the kind of person who could be an influencer based on their looks alone.”

”Yeah, that’s pretty much my situation.”

[I don’t believe it. Show us!]

[I believe her. Daughters tend to look like their fathers, so her biological dad must have been handsome.]

[The guy above has a point. If her biological father wasn’t handsome, her mom wouldn’t have had an affair to have her.]

[I bet her real dad was a model or a movie star.]

The bullet comments had a point.

It wasn’t uncommon for a wealthy woman to find a handsome man to ”improve the gene pool,” and it fit this woman’s background perfectly.

’But who knew to what extent the ’gene pool’ had actually been improved?’

’If she really is a 7-out-of-10 beauty, on top of being wealthy herself, she shouldn’t be lacking for pursuers.’

”Ma’am, it’s not that I don’t believe you.”

”As a rule, we assume all clients who come here are telling the truth.”

”I’m just curious to see for myself. Would you be able to turn on your camera?”

”...That’s not really convenient,” the woman said, sounding troubled. ”I don’t want my family to know I’m looking into this kind of thing online.”

”But I can show you a photo. I’ll send it to you in a private message.”

”Perfect, perfect. I promise I’ll keep it to myself.” Zhang Zhe hadn’t expected this special treatment. ’Now I’ll finally get to see what a wealthy 7-out-of-10 beauty looks like,’ he thought.

After a few minutes of fiddling, the woman finally sent the photo over.

It looked like a photo taken when she was picking up a new car. Judging by the exposure and contrast, the beauty filters were so aggressive her own mother probably wouldn’t recognize her.

Zhang Zhe could grudgingly admit the woman in the photo was a 7.

’Those beauty filters are really something else.’

’Then again, with filters like these, he could claim to be Qing City’s Daniel Wu and no one could argue.’

Zhang Zhe was trying to figure out how to gently tell her that this kind of 7 didn’t count.

’It’s basically cheating, and it’s useless in the matchmaking market...’

Suddenly, the system activated.

This time, it was a red exclamation mark.
