Pillar of Yita

So the question was thrown back, and the two Bain Knights responsible for delivering the message were not annoyed, simply returning his answer faithfully. After a moment, they returned with Bain’s new terms:

”The lord said, you can cast the spell, their purpose is to ensure Miss Affia’s safety.”

”Let us cast the spell?”

Fang Hong was taken aback.

After hesitating for a moment, he asked again: ”Is this your final demand?”

The two knights nodded at the door to affirm.

Behind the door, Fang Hong fell silent.

What’s the catch with the other side? Is it really just to protect Affia? He couldn’t help but look back at the girl beside him, but is she really that delicate? Just going to the rooftop, even if there is a sandstorm raging outside, it won’t actually kill anyone on the spot, is it necessary?

Unless Affia’s identity is so noble that the other side must be so cautious.

Thinking of this, he looked at her again. ”Now I believe you’re not Count Nulman’s illegitimate daughter, because I believe Miss Lavali doesn’t get this treatment either. Affia, could you be a princess in distress?”

Affia was clearly puzzled too, but hearing this teasing remark, she couldn’t help but frown. ”Mr. Ade, I said...”

Fang Hong smiled wryly: ”I know, but the current situation makes people wonder, I really can’t think of any other reason—”

After hearing this, Affia too was speechless, she looked at the door, confusion evident in her eyes. From what she recalled, she had never been so important in her life, what is really going on outside? She even worried if this was a trap, but thinking carefully, there didn’t seem to be a need.

Fang Hong didn’t think as much as she did, but when he mentioned princess in distress, a thought flashed in his mind. But now is not the time to think about these matters, he set aside his thoughts and started considering the proposal seriously.

It’s reasonable for Bain to bargain, if the other side fully accepted their demands without consideration, he would have to think carefully whether there was a trick.

Although he said he would not accept any bargaining before, that was only in terms of principle.

Now the other side wants to offer some protection to Affia, it sounds reasonable.

What he opposed was the other side approaching Affia and preventing them from saving her, if they cast the spell themselves, what’s the problem?

In fact, he didn’t want to be entangled with the other side over minor issues, since they also had to guard against the other side intentionally delaying time, the urgent thing now was to get them to quickly agree to their proposal, let them to the rooftop where the Dawood Ship is docked. Once they board the ship, everything is negotiable.

But how to agree, that’s still a technical task.

After returning the ’maybe consider’ opinion, the knights soon brought back the outside’s new demand:

”They don’t trust our people’s spells,” Fang Hong felt puzzled after hearing them: ”They demand we must use your spell?”

The knights nodded.

”How to achieve that?” Fang Hong asked again, ”I won’t allow your people to approach, you should be clear on this point.”

The knights calmly told them, they could use a scroll, have someone go out to get the scroll, then display the spell.

”Scrolls are not allowed.” Fang Hong shook his head immediately, anything brought by the other side seemed unreliable to him. Honestly, this was his first time doing such a thing, surrounded by strong enemies, being suspicious was normal. Perhaps the scroll itself had no issues, but it’s safer to be cautious.

But thinking for a moment, he thought of a compromise: ”Perhaps I have an idea, we are Invokers, you can teach the spell to one of us, then have us cast the spell.”

It must be said, this seemed like a perfect plan to Fang Hong, plus the other side couldn’t refuse. For Natives, learning a spell is not an overnight matter, but for Invokers with Cognitive Experience, if one wants to teach and another wants to learn, it’s a matter of moments for the system.

And excluding Campaign Level Magic above ring thirteen, Eteliria’s individual spells are divided into twelve rings, for Luo Yu’s level, spells below ring five aren’t difficult, Arcanists can’t claim that even this mere dust storm protection spell is above ring six, right?

That would be too absurd, even His Majesty King Colin Ishurian wouldn’t enjoy such treatment.

After he finished, he looked at the two knights, who hesitated slightly before nodding and turning back to leave. Their reaction was within reasonable bounds, but after they left Fang Hong became somewhat apprehensive—what if they refuse again? They must stick to principles, but also prevent driving them too hard, if the other side breaks things by force, it would be unfortunate for them.

After all, he asked Affia, the other side still possessed considerable Starlight for revival.
