Pillar of Yita

But Fang Hong knew that this situation was only temporary. The enemy might have had limited forces outside this area initially, which could be why they adopted such a strategy. Once the enemy had finished mobilizing, people would quickly enter the outer area. After all, this was a fortress, and it wouldn’t have just this few people.

He put down the binoculars and shared his thoughts with everyone.

The Shield of Lufu naturally had no response; they couldn’t even figure out what the current situation was or how to deal with it, as it was beyond what they could handle. However, Luo Hao, as a newcomer, showed remarkable calmness and agreed with his assessment.

Fang Hong couldn’t help but recall ZXC’s description of how the enemy confirmed the time on the airship, thinking that the Little Fatty seemed to have some tricks up his sleeve. The military certainly had hidden talents.

As for the other Little Fatty, he blinked after listening: ”So what do we do next? Surely we won’t fight them, right? How many people are in this place?”

”There are at least two thousand troops stationed at Bain Fortress.”

Luo Hao replied.

Wu Xiaopang gasped: ”Even if we were war gods, we couldn’t kill so many people.”

Fang Hong found him amusing, wondering what thoughts were running through his head. He wasn’t thinking about the mission from the Princess anymore, just how to leave this place. A military fortress sounded daunting, but it was impossible for all two thousand to be mobilized, and it wouldn’t take that many to surround them.

In the situation where the enemy was visible but they were hidden, they still had a slim chance in this complex castle. A fortress was designed to withstand external enemies, often with complex interiors to delay advancing time once breached. But this complexity could be an advantage in small-scale battles for those more agile.

He couldn’t match the owner’s familiarity with the fortress, but he had confidence. For a Combat Artisan with a multitude of tactics, fighting in complex terrain was ideal. Moreover, he had an incredibly bold plan in mind.

However, he wouldn’t share this plan yet to avoid scaring off his companions.

As he thought, he looked through the binoculars at the situation in the Inner Court.

As if to confirm his thoughts, not long after, shadowy figures began to move over there. After a careful look, he noticed another team had arrived in the Inner Court. Though amidst the dust storm, he couldn’t see clearly, he vaguely noticed they weren’t there to replace the guards.

It was at this moment that a group ambushing near the entrance of the Inner Court sent a message—through his Clockwork Fairy: ”Someone has come in.”

Fang Hong thought it was as expected.

He quickly put down the binoculars and gestured to the group: ”Follow me, it’s time to act.”

The enemy was alert; continuing to hide seemed impossible. His original plan was to ambush the first team entering the outer area, then force the entrance since the enemy was likely least vigilant after just receiving reinforcements.

Additionally, taking out the first wave of reinforcements would help avoid the awkward situation of running straight into enemy reinforcements during the assault. The enemy’s reaction had likely just begun, so front-line forces should only comprise those present. Once breaking through the outer area, they could easily push through to the warehouse region.

With limited manpower, they must fully utilize time and battlefield environmental differences; otherwise, engaging in direct combat would likely be a dead end.

But as with any scripted plan, when Fang Hong started executing it, he had a peculiar thought about the guards entering the outer area.

Suddenly, he felt he had a better plan.

This plan was bolder, but if successful, it would be much more perfect than the current plan.

He stopped and told everyone: ”Hold on, the previous plan might need to change. I have a better idea.”

But it sounded unreliable—

Even Luo Hao looked at him strangely.

Who changes a plan at the last minute?

But Fang Hong gently coughed: ”No need to change too much of the first part; the latter part is simple, just follow my instructions.”

About fifteen minutes later.

Two guard teams stationed in the Inner Court and a ’Eye of Revelation’ Hall Guard Knight suddenly saw their colleagues entering the outer area slowly exit.

The regular guards were puzzled and some even asked: ”Why are you out so fast? Any issues inside? Where are the others?”

Behind them, the Hall Guard Knight sternly shouted: ”Halt!”

He parted the group, walked out from behind, raised his long knife, pointed at his ’colleagues’, and asked solemnly: ”Raise your head.”

Those ’guards’ who walked out slightly paused but remained silent, keeping their heads down as if ignoring the Knight. The guards in the Inner Court initially befuddled, now found it unusual, drew their weapons, stepped back, and stood with the Knight.

At that moment, the ’Knight’ leading the front suddenly raised his head.

Seeing his face, the Hall Guard Knight was slightly stunned but then relaxed: ”Heidel, you’re playing tricks now? I almost attacked.”

But the ’Knight’ just shook his head, smiled: ”There’s something odd inside, but not a big issue.”

Hearing the familiar voice, the Hall Guard Knight felt at ease, retracted his weapon, and asked: ”What’s going on?”

”I probably can’t say here.”

”I understand,” the Hall Guard Knight immediately comprehended: ”You go back and report to the lords.”

The ’Knight’ nodded slightly and reached out his hand.

The Hall Guard Knight thought the other would give him something, but suddenly, a silver light flashed before him.

A long blade appeared in his sight.
