Pillar of Yita

At this moment, Wu Xiaopang, who had come in from the back, had already closed the door with a backhand. Since the door had been forced open, the lock was already broken, so it was just slightly ajar now. However, in the current situation, whether the door could be properly closed was no longer important. Soon, a chaotic sound of footsteps came from outside the door.

The footsteps quickly stopped, followed by a series of gasping sounds and the sound of people talking: ”Quick, notify His Excellency the Governor.”

Then, after a moment, another voice sounded from outside: ”Listen up, you people inside, do you know what place this is? We are aware of your identities, you are the Holy Chosen, your actions have seriously violated the covenant between us and you, and violated your ’Stargate Declaration’——”

”If you don’t want to be wanted by all parties, release Miss Lavali immediately, or else you will be dead!”

This statement caused a murmur inside the room.

Apparently, the maidservants were all taken aback, not expecting that these intruders were actually the Holy Chosen. Outside, it was rumored that the Holy Chosen were mostly lawless and greedy, terrifying figures, seemingly restrained by nothing other than their own ’Manifesto’.

Of course, some of these rumors were exaggerated, and in fact, few Invokers really acted like this. However, exaggerated rumors about the Invokers were plentiful in Colin Ishurian, not to mention in a place like Istania. And once they knew that the intruders were such lawless people, someone in the darkness immediately began to sob again.

Little Limar was also pale, her eyes wide as she looked at them, her lips trembling so much that she could hardly speak.

Fang Hong worried that this little girl might be scared to death, in which case they would really be blamed unjustly no matter what. He originally didn’t intend to pay attention to the knights outside, as these people were not in charge, but seeing this scene, he could only sigh and loudly replied, ”’Manifesto’ we naturally understand, but don’t forget it was you who acted first this time, we were also forced. Please rest assured, we are not really intending to harm your Miss. We just wish to make some demands to His Excellency the Governor so that we can leave this place smoothly.”

”Our demand is simple,” he replied towards the door, but also explained to the maidservants inside the room: ”Let your Governor come here, if he agrees to our demand and allows us to leave this place safely, we will also keep our promise and won’t harm a single hair of your young lady. Otherwise…”

He did not finish the latter words, only raising his voice slightly.

To be honest, the current situation felt somewhat peculiar to Fang Hong.

As for what else would happen, to be frank, he himself was unsure, never having considered this possibility — if the opposing party were really so stubborn, disregarding the safety of his daughter, Fang Hong could only glance at the window where the wind was howling outside, and perhaps they would have to jump out from there.

Fortunately, for the other party, evidently, no one would think in such a manner.

The knights outside, hearing his words, involuntarily stepped back a pace and exchanged glances. Clearly, all of them appeared troubled; storming in was obviously not an option, given that the young lady was as helpless as a lamb, and the ’villains’ only needed an instant to kill her. Though the young lady had suffered some loss of Starlight due to a sudden illness when very young — in Eteliria, with its poor sanitation, most people don’t have an entirely smooth journey to adulthood; if it’s true for commoners, naturally nobles are no exception — as of now, she does have a few more chances for revival.

But if Miss Lavali did suffer any mishap at their hands, His Excellency the Governor probably wouldn’t leave them much Starlight.

However, the demands made by the opposing party were clearly beyond their authority, and the only apparent course of action was to notify those below them.

Thus, the lead knight, with a somewhat darkened face, sheathed the curved blade in his hand and answered in a muffled voice:

”Alright then, please don’t act rashly, we will immediately notify His Excellency the Governor. Before that, please ensure the safety of Miss Lavali.”

Fang Hong remained silent.

He had already said more than enough; after all, he’s not a professional ’bandit’, saying more might expose flaws.

Silence is golden for now, waiting for someone truly in charge to come up and complete the transaction with them.
