Pillar of Yita

”Since we haven’t left the city, we are likely still under surveillance by the opposition. It seems that the opponent’s lax defenses in the fortress are a result of their confidence. Considering that Istania has been at peace for a long time, who would come to attack Bain in such harsh weather, even if it were wartime? Inside the fortress, we prisoners are insignificant, as I mentioned earlier...”

The fat man from the military ’clicks’ his shield back into the interface on his back and draws out his heavy sword, looking ready for combat. In fact, he is also a theory master in the community; he has seen countless far-fetched plans, so his surprise at the Seven Seas Travel Group is based on the fact that it’s merely a Free Adventure Group.

He was once a fan of BBK, whose main rival was the Silver Forest Crown, a guild with the All-Seer KUN, considered one of the top ten most outlandish guilds, and not much different from the second-ranked Elite. In comparison, Elite is known for being quirky, while KUN’s plans are distinguished for their boldness and risky maneuvers.

On this point, he felt his Captain shared some similarities with KUN.

But this doesn’t mean that the two have any real connection, since that’s quite normal.

To win by using the weak against the strong, and to play the edge are often the best choices—

Due to this identity, he easily understands Fang Hong’s thoughts; holding the sword, he naturally responded, ”So this choice seems reckless, but it’s actually our only option. If we fail, we can only resort to the worst-case scenario and escape into the sandstorm, right?”

Fang Hong simply nodded and replied, ”But it’s not that simple. Their defenses are lax on the outside but tight on the inside, suggesting that they have something arranged in the city.”

This surprised Luo Hao somewhat:

”Why do you say that?”

The previous conclusions could be drawn from existing information, but the Arcanists couldn’t have known they were going to escape and arranged the city in advance, right?

But Fang Hong was thinking about something else; those two servants mentioned that Arcanists only come to Bain at specific times, and this particular time is actually abnormal. Although it could be explained as avoiding the sandstorm, Bain is not close to Tansnier; why did the Arcanists specifically come here?

If something cannot be explained with existing reasons, it often suggests there might be a hidden cause. And this is just one point; why did the Hall Guard Sorcerer named Ebene leave the fortress during a sandstorm and where did he go? What urgent matter needed to be done in such awful weather, creating room for speculation?

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily relate directly to Bain City, but considering the eerie relationship mentioned by Delan between the Arcanist, the local Praetor and the King of Sand, and the Grand Princess, he couldn’t help but consider these factors. If the Arcanists truly have urgent actions, then imposing a city-wide lockdown at this time doesn’t seem out of the question?

In Eteliria, during a lockdown, what are the key places to guard? Besides the various entrances and exits, of course, the Great Holy Temples.

However, there are too many speculative elements in these things, and Fang Hong couldn’t be certain, especially since he couldn’t verify some information, like that part mentioned by Delan, so he didn’t plan to discuss it. He simply shook his head and said, ”In any case, your question isn’t big, even just these few reasons decide that we have to choose the risky path.”

Wu Xiaopang listened to the conversation between the two, confused and unable to understand how this speculation-heavy dialogue related to them. While Arcanists might guard the Holy Sanctuary, they weren’t necessarily going to, right? Compared to kidnapping the Praetor of a place, the former’s risk seemed much smaller, didn’t it?

But he hadn’t thought it through; it’s not about possibility. In Fang Hong and Luo Hao’s views, some things are almost certain. This doesn’t mean he is less intelligent; it’s just a matter of differing information.

ZXC, standing beside them, raised an eyebrow slightly, realizing the gap between them and the team under this big shot. They were still simply considering the crisis they were in and the immediate trouble they needed to handle, while the others were already analyzing potential opponent movements from deeper motives.

And it seemed the others were quite accustomed to solving problems this way—it’s like treating the head for a headache and the foot for a sore foot, as opposed to truly addressing the root of the issue. While it might not be this exaggerated, the logic is consistent. But ZXC knew that not only Shield of Lufu thought like this; some Grand Guilds might also think this way.

Complete the task, earn the reward, as to what’s behind the task, that’s not something they need to consider. Even if they did, they probably couldn’t solve it, and it would just be needless worry.

Of course, he had seen teams that thought as the other did.

And as for those teams, none of them failed to make a name for themselves in the Invoker’s history.

”I have a proposal,” Luo Hao thought for a moment and said, ”Perhaps we can find a less dangerous way.”
