Pillar of Yita

Affia looked at the scene, a bit overwhelmed.

But just as she was conflicted, Luo Hao suddenly turned back from the door and asked, ”Wait a minute, Captain, something seems off.”

Fang Hong, Little Fatty, and Affia turned their heads simultaneously.

”There’s no commotion outside.” Luo Hao answered in a hushed tone.

He had been holding up his shield, wary that Bain’s knight might break in, but after a long wait, there was no sound at all. Before they entered, Bain’s knight was clearly breaking in from the outside; even if the opponent wanted to guard against a counterattack, it shouldn’t take this long.

This abnormal situation immediately drew their attention.

”What?”

Fang Hong seemed to realize something too, made a gesture for everyone to quiet down. As soon as they stopped speaking, outside the dark room, it indeed seemed silent.

What’s going on?

Earlier when they were in the outer room, they could still hear the noise in the corridor. But now the outside of the room seemed like a sound-swallowing black hole, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

This could only mean one thing, there was no one in the outer room.

What kind of plot are these guys up to now?

But at that moment, one of the Rangers among Shield of Lufu suddenly whispered, ”Wait, someone came in.”

Soon, everyone heard the sound of footsteps rustling, and two footsteps stopped outside the door. Everyone was tense, ready to fight back the moment the door opened, but after a long wait, the expected situation didn’t happen, and they only heard a cough.

The knight outside coughed lightly, awkwardly yet courteously saying, ”Everyone, the negotiation continues.”

What the heck?

Inside the room, Fang Hong, Little Fatty, ZXC, Luo Hao, Luo Yu, and the other two members of Shield of Lufu looked bewildered, like Xiangzi, who remained indifferent, flipping through ancient books as if everything happening had nothing to do with him.

The others exchanged glances, displaying varying degrees of bewilderment.

The knight outside, not getting a reply for a long time, had to continue as instructed by Nulman, and asked, ”Could Miss Affia say a few words to us?”

Seven pairs of eyes all turned towards the young girl beside them.

Affia’s eyes widened instantly. The girl’s face was equally puzzled, she even sheepishly pointed at herself, as if the name ’Affia’ wasn’t hers.

Earlier Mr. Lammonlay — that middle-aged alchemist — had told her not to interfere with what was happening in the castle and advised her to rest first. Then she was informed by the castle’s servants that due to chaos outside, His Excellency the Governor had arranged another room for Arcanists in the castle. Afterwards, she was led here by Lady Rand.

Then came the part where the count’s daughter disappeared. She agreed to stay here as requested, which she didn’t mind, after all, she had long admired the count’s daughter’s private collection, having heard about a personal library. She liked knowledge but there wasn’t such a condition at Cloud Lighthouse.

But didn’t expect to encounter such a thing.

When things got chaotic outside earlier, she naturally didn’t know the intruders were Fang Hong and his party, she was cautiously hiding in the room, afraid to make a sound, but didn’t expect them to come in proactively. Only after confirming their identity did she feel relieved, though they had only met twice before, she felt they wouldn’t harm her.

Even if that’s fine —

What is going on now?

But her personality decided she had no time to think deeply, she hurriedly responded, ”I, I’m here.”

In the darkness, the girl’s voice was soft and timid. Yet upon hearing this response, the two knights outside the door visibly relaxed, and then they loudly addressed Fang Hong’s group, ”Everyone, our negotiation still continues, this is the Governor’s wish.”

They paused: ”Please ensure Miss Affia’s safety, we can still fulfill the previous promise, including bringing your companions over and allowing you to safely board the ’Dawood Ship.’

The room fell silent.

All eyes continued to linger on Affia, leaving her flustered - clearly, the knights’ proposal exceeded her expectations, her status at the ’Cloud Lighthouse’ wasn’t particularly prominent, and her relationship with others was somewhat indifferent.

No one deliberately troubled her, but the attention was similarly scarce, Lord Ebene might be the one she interacted with most often, but he treated her no differently than other students, being equally strict.

As for Bain’s side, even more distant.

Affia was a bit confused about what the other side meant.

She was perplexed, and naturally so were Fang Hong and the others. But the knight outside didn’t get a reply and repeated, ”Everyone, please give us a response.”

”What should we do?” Luo Yu rarely asked.

Fang Hong’s mind flashed quickly, though the other side might have a trick, it seemed there was no second path to go? Moreover, he couldn’t figure out their purpose in being so redundant, but anyway, buying some time is worth it, since the opponent isn’t in a hurry, neither are they.
