Pillar of Yita

Luo Yu was still trying to discern who it was over there when a voice came from the shadows: ”Catch.”

Then something was thrown towards him, and hearing that familiar voice, his mind instinctively responded. He reached out and caught it. His hand slightly sank, and he found it was his own Magic Guided Wand and a glove used for casting spells. The silver-gray glove wasn’t his, but it was even better than his own.

The voice said again: ”Your Magic Guided Wand is outside; the glove wasn’t found, it was probably blown away. This belongs to the Arcanist, use it for now.”

It was Fang Hong’s voice.

Luo Yu now saw the other’s appearance, hurriedly nodded, put on the glove, then gripped the Magic Guided Wand, and began to re-establish contact with the Main Crystal on it. Meanwhile, Fang Hong turned to one side and mimicked the previous action, saying to Xiangzi beside him: ”Catch—”

”Wait—” Luo Yu was startled, hurriedly turned around.

But he was too late to stop it. Fang Hong had already thrown Xiangzi’s Staff Sword over, and Xiangzi instinctively reached out upon hearing the voice. Then, ’bang’—the two items hit his forehead one after the other.

...

A bright flame ignited far away in the darkness, as if something had caught fire, followed by a blaze shooting into the sky. Even in such terrible weather, it was clearly visible from a kilometer away. It reflected in Lavali’s eyes, mirrored in the depths of her emerald green pupils. She furrowed her eyebrows and withdrew her gaze from the window.

The hall was brightly lit, and everyone had returned to this place—though many servants were busy moving things, along with guards.

The Arcanists were gathered on the other side of the hall, discussing something in a circle, and the middle-aged Arcanist’s voice occasionally rose and then fell again, as the Hall Guard Knight brought back intelligence, revealing their plans had suffered setbacks again.

The middle-aged Arcanist approached, his face somber, and said to His Excellency the Governor:

”Sir, we’ve captured a few people...”

”Where are they?”

”They committed suicide.”

”...”

Nulman sighed: ”Then go into the city and contact the Holy Sanctuary.”

The middle-aged Arcanist nodded and turned to leave.

The young girl’s lips curved into a slight arc, she turned back to His Excellency the Governor beside her and said: ”It seems their spells aren’t working so well in this weather, Father.”

Hearing his daughter’s voice, the Earl’s stern expression also seemed to melt away like snow. He stroked his curly beard and chuckled wryly: ”But after all, this is your father’s domain, and although these people may be a bit smug, they are still our allies, Lavali. It’s not very kind of you to gloat.”

”I’m not gloating, Father,” Lavali shook her head, replying in a not-so-convincing tone. ”Besides, it’s just a few people; for you, it shouldn’t count as trouble, right Father? Have you considered my previous proposal?”

Nulman looked dotingly at his daughter: ”You want to find a history teacher, but Istania has many excellent scholars. As for that outsider, I don’t think she’s very suitable.”

”But I just like Miss Gita.”

”...Well, she hasn’t even obtained her Scholar degree at the Silver Tower, has she?”

”Is that important, Father?”

”It’s not... Alright, do as you wish,” Nulman sighed: ”But today you must go rest first. This place isn’t suitable for you to stay any longer, even though the Inner City is very safe, you can’t guarantee nothing will go wrong.”

”Then I must stay with Father.”

”Lavali.”

The girl giggled: ”Alright, alright, I know. I’ll go sleep now, Father. Goodnight, may Androma be with you.”

Nulman gently nodded but called her back: ”Wait a moment, Lavali.”

”What’s up, Father?”

”There’s a guest in the Inner City, I’ve asked her to...”

Lavali blinked, looking curiously at her father.

After his daughter left, the middle-aged Arcanist returned again, bringing a new piece of news:

”The prisoners have been rescued.”

Nulman furrowed his brow: ”What’s happening, didn’t you say they just arrived at the garrison?”

”They might have split their forces.”

”But you said their strength was limited, how could they rescue the remaining people after splitting their forces?”

”Among them are some extremely formidable individuals.”

Nulman shook his head: ”Their Spellcasters were just rescued, what formidable individuals are left?”

The middle-aged Arcanist’s face turned slightly awkward; earlier he had boasted, but the situation hadn’t unfolded as he had anticipated. The other side not only didn’t flee the fortress but didn’t surrender as imagined, instead, they pressed towards the Inner Court—a bold move that surprised not only him but also His Excellency the Governor.

This unexpected action naturally caught them off guard. The facts were almost as Fang Hong anticipated; the Arcanists concentrated their forces on the outer line, only preparing for an escape outward and not considering inward actions. Once they broke through that line of defense, they had the advantage everywhere, taking the Arcanists by surprise, and leaving them scrambling.
