Pillar of Yita

”To achieve the goal of maintaining the purity of our team.”

The other party paused for a moment, turning his gaze toward the bustling hall: ”So this time the Super Competitive League went south and reached agreement with the Shadow Throne Guild, actually to rectify the southern Order. But you must have seen, during this time, many bad things happened...”

Fang Hong glanced at the young man beside him.

He thought if the other hadn’t mentioned the Shadow Throne, he might have really believed it.

And now, he just silently waited for the other party to finish speaking—

The official saw that he had no reaction, then continued: ”Ragnarok is also cooperating with us, and that is the reason I am here under the name. I heard you have a good relationship with Chairman Odin, so I guess as an outstanding Invoker, you wouldn’t mind cooperating with the Super Competitive League, would you?”

Fang Hong listened and only felt the urge to scratch his head.

Because he was contemplating a key question—do stowaways really count as outstanding Invokers, and what will the military’s views on this be?

”Mr. Ade?” Seeing Fang suddenly spacing out, the person promptly asked.

Fang Hong let out an ”Ah?” before coming back to his senses, quickly nodded, whatever it was, he agreed first.

——Let’s see what the other party’s take is.

And the official was pleased, then said: ”It’s like this, on the night of Dulun’s chaos, you should have seen Ye Hua, right? Could you tell me what kind of conspiracy he and the Alchemists of the old Southern Region Alliance were involved in that night?”

Fang Hong was stunned to hear it. He didn’t expect the other party to approach him for such a matter.

However, he certainly couldn’t come out to expose Great God Ye Hua.

Not to mention whether these people had any good intentions, that night he and Great God Ye Hua only met by chance, what did he know about the so-called ’conspiracy’ of the old Southern Region Alliance? Moreover, in his view, what the Super Competitive League did at the time was far from honorable.

Not to mention that it also involved the matters of the Shadow Throne.

But directly refusing also didn’t seem ideal.

He thought for a moment, and decided to be frank: ”Sir, I really want to help you, but that day I met the Southern Region Alliance people only by coincidence...”

The official glanced at him, shook his head, thinking you are just making it up. His information is quite clear; this person was the one who took away Duke Modkaesar’s second son that night, and there is evidence showing he had contacted Ye Hua before, although later Duke Modkaesar’s second son returned himself to Phoenix City.

So he also can’t directly burst out.

But he thought Fang Hong’s attitude was at least sincere, and it was understandable that he’d have some concerns at this time, so he softened his tone: ”That’s alright, as long as you are willing to stand out and expose Ye Hua, that would be enough, no need to worry, it’s an honorable act.”

He paused for a moment, then offered benefits: ”I heard you have a small team. Our Super Competitive League actually has many reward rules for teams that lead by example and uphold the honor of Invokers—”

Fang Hong thought, ’I don’t believe you,’ but he knew what to do, intentionally showing a difficult expression.

The other party saw this and believed there was hope, continued: ”How about this, you can go back and think about it, give me an answer before the end of this match, how about that?”

Fang Hong had no interest in staying anymore, only nodded absentmindedly.

”Looking forward to working together.” The person stretched out his hand, slightly smiling: ”Mr. Ade.”

Fang Hong very reluctantly shook hands with the other party, and the other person’s hand was cold and wet, almost making him pull back in disgust. After turning around, he quickly took out a tissue to wipe hard a few times, still feeling a bit nauseated.

And the young man shamelessly caught up, saying: ”Mr. Ade, we’ll be in the same circle now, can you introduce me to Miss Hilveld?”

Fang Hong almost punched this guy away, but held back his displeasure, smiling superficially: ”We’ll see if there’s a chance.”

What he thought inside was, if you collude with the Dragon Worship Sect, given the opportunity, I’ll send you to the internal affairs office at Stargate Port for tea—

And the young man grinned: ”Thanks a lot.”

But turning away, his face immediately fell.

The two parted ways clearly unfriendly.

...

Old Hank stared at the dark lake surface.

For thirty years, he often felt that beneath this lake was a pair of cold eyes, dark and frigid, silently watching—When Fanric’s lights glanced at the lake, perhaps something beneath the surface was quietly gazing at this city.

The young man joining the Patrol Team was absent-mindedly putting the stake into the lake water, but Old Hank suddenly turned back, grabbing the other’s hand. The latter slightly startled, somewhat irritated looking at the old man: ”Old man, what are you doing?” He was still eager to finish this and return for the city’s celebrations—

Tomorrow, the Alchemists’ competition would start, and the celebrations had been going on since the next afternoon.

He was reluctant to be patrolling at this time.

”Be gentle,” Old Hank didn’t care about the city’s celebration at all, he had been called ’Old’ Hank for nearly twenty years, as for guarding this lake, he had been doing it for so long that he almost couldn’t remember, people said he understood this lake’s mood.

And he knew, he just kept a sense of awe.

He hadn’t forgotten what Long Lake was like thirteen years ago. He grabbed the young man’s hand and said: ”Be careful of what’s beneath the lake.”

”What could be beneath the lake,” the young man shook his head: ”Just some rotten fish and shrimp.”

But he also recalled the tale of the Fishmen Koras, subconsciously slowing his action and after a while, pulled up the stake to see the water reached two-thirds of the mark.

The young man turned back, exchanged glances with Old Hank, both faces showing discomfort.

”The water level has risen again.”

”If it rises more, docks three and four can’t be used.”

”Need to inform the Alchemists, old man, are you going?”

But Old Hank continuously shook his head, murmuring something frightened.

The young man listened closely, but only heard some strange words, making him look at the dark lake, shivering.
