Pillar of Yita

”Mr. Knight, do you remember the events at Aimumu Fortress?” Tata stood up and gently leaped, slowly landing on his left wrist, one hand resting atop his thumb’s back, her gaze quietly fixed on the dusty diary, suddenly asking.

Fang Hong nodded; he naturally remembered. He looked at the notebook in his hand and suddenly paused for a moment. The underground of Aimumu Fortress seemed to also have the emblem of the Grossel Family’s wolf, and combined with the notebook in his hand, was this a coincidence?

He couldn’t help but recall the Holy Sword he had seen underground, which, although damaged, was still a threat to the Dark Giant Dragon. It was the only clue in the whole incident related to the Dragon Worship Sect, and the fact that the other party had recorded these three names in the notebook seemed to indicate that the Dragon Worship Sect was using related clues to search for the Dragon Slayer?

But it didn’t seem so—because Fang Hong still remembered the conversation when he captured the ’Messenger’; their goal was clearly the sorcerer-ghoul—right, the sorcerer-ghoul. Fang Hong only now recalled that the sorcerer-ghoul had inquired about some matters related to the Grossel Family, and from its tone, it was evidently deeply connected to this name when it was alive.

Speaking of which, that sorcerer-ghoul eventually took away the Dragon Slayer.

But what was the relationship between the sorcerer-ghoul and the Grossel Family, and why was the Dragon Worship Sect pursuing it? Moreover, the Grossel Family wasn’t of the Oathkeeper Clan, so why did the Dragon Slaying Holy Sword ’Dragon Slayer’ end up underground in Aimumu Fortress? What happened in that ancient castle in the past to lead to its current desolate state?

Everything seemed to be shrouded in a massive mystery.

Fang Hong couldn’t help but glance again at the three names in the notebook.

Tantance-Grossel.

This was Rockland’s grandfather and the father of the next name ’Maryland-Grossel’, also the only name among the three that wasn’t circled in red. As for the other two names, the prominent red circles seemed to emphasize something upon Fang Hong’s eyes.

But what was it emphasizing? Was it telling him the notebook is related to Tantance, yet he isn’t the main character here?

Fang Hong’s gaze then turned to the latter—Maryland-Grossel, son of Tantance, marked with a red circle like the name ’Cris Aylingelan’. Does this imply that the records in the notebook have major relevance to this Duke’s son?

As for the third name, Cris Aylingelan. It seems unrelated to the Grossel Family, yet it’s still recorded under the Grossel Family list.

Fang Hong searched through his memories but couldn’t find any instance of this name being the same as the Duchess, or Rockland’s biological mother. He lightly brushed his hand over the three names, feeling somewhat puzzled for a moment.

And it was at this moment that Tata softly spoke: ”Mr. Knight.”

Fang Hong was suddenly startled.

He and Miss Fairy were connected in mind, and what Tata thought of, he naturally thought of too. The name Cris did have some impression for him, as if he had heard it somewhere before, and upon closer thought, it slowly dawned on him—he indeed had heard this name:

When Daisy lunged at the sorcerer-ghoul, the other party screamed out this name.

The panicked voice remained unforgettable to him to this day.

Was this the name Miss Daisy once had?

But how could a cat’s name be recorded in the notebook?

Fang Hong gradually calmed down and suddenly thought of a possibility. What he first recalled was the portrait of a girl and a cat he saw with Gita in the ancient castle, in a serene afternoon depicted in the painting, with the girl and the cat in her embrace, and that cat exactly resembled Miss Daisy. He had always suspected that the cat in the painting was Daisy.

But if that cat was truly Miss Daisy, then the name screamed in a panic by the sorcerer-ghoul could have another possibility entirely—it screamed out the name of its former master. Thus, the beautiful name ’Cris Aylingelan’ should actually belong to the girl in the painting.

This was the most reasonable explanation Fang Hong could think of.

”What do you think, then?” Fang Hong couldn’t resist asking softly: ”Miss Tata?”

”I was pondering a question, Mr. Knight.” Miss Fairy gazed at the notebook and answered quietly.

Fang Hong naturally thought of this question at the same time.

He looked at Miss Fairy with some disbelief and couldn’t help blurting out: ”Miss Tata, you truly are a genius!”

Why was the emblem of the Grossel Family’s wolf present beneath Aimumu Fortress?

And who exactly is Cris Aylingelan, and why is her name recorded on the Grossel Family list?

All it takes is a simple hypothesis to reasonably explain this. Miss Tata’s gentle words at this moment were like a brush, clearly sketching out this possibility in his mind—suppose Cris Aylingelan was Cris Groselle?

That girl once had such a name, but she married far away and adopted her husband’s surname. So from the start, Aylingelan wasn’t her original surname but her husband’s, then everything made sense.

Why this name appears at this place.

”Cris Groselle, I’ve never heard of this name; she might be the Duke’s daughter of the last generation,” Fang Hong asserted, ”because Tantance also had a daughter, but she never married, so it wasn’t her.”

Suddenly he felt a sense of clarity opening up in his mind and immediately turned his gaze to the second name, saying: ”Then what about this name? Maryland-Rogersel, could he actually be the sorcerer-ghoul?”
