Pillar of Yita

Not to mention the holiday homework hasn’t been completed yet, and there’s less than a week before we have to return to Stargate Port. I could have used this time completely. She wasn’t sure what had gotten into her, to come all the way south with him to watch a bizarre alchemy competition?

Speaking of which, does this guy really understand alchemy?

Thinking of this, Tang Xin couldn’t help but look over suspiciously.

Ai Xiaoxiao was admiring the towering Aldofen Tower, allowing Tang Xin to only see her friend’s side profile — unlike the other, she knew well how tedious the professional competitions of craftsmen were and was truly skeptical if this guy could really be interested in such a specialized competition?

Thinking of this, Tang Xin suddenly spoke: ”Little Princess.”

”Huh?” Ai Xiaoxiao turned back and looked at her curiously.

Tang Xin asked: ”I’ve asked you, have you really seen an alchemy competition before?”

”I have,” Ai Xiaoxiao replied matter-of-factly: ”Don’t you remember?”

Tang Xin was taken aback: ”Why would I know if you’ve watched a competition?”

”We watched it together.”

What the heck?

Tang Xin suddenly had a not-so-good feeling: ”I mean, Little Princess.”

”Here.”

”I’m asking you, exactly how many times have you watched such competitions?”

”How many times?” Ai Xiaoxiao seriously thought for a while: ”Just once,” she paused here, sounding a bit disappointed: ”After that ’he’ didn’t participate, those competitions aren’t interesting at all, what’s there to watch.”

Tang Xin looked at this guy coldly: ”...”

”What are you doing, Tangtang.” Ai Xiaoxiao was a bit creeped out by her stare.

”I’ve been wanting to ask this too, what exactly are we doing here.”

”Watching the competition.”

”But these competitions are no different from the ones you watched before.”

”Ah?” Ai Xiaoxiao was shocked: ”But, but...” She hesitated several times, then said: ”What if ’he’ comes?”

He might come?

Tang Xin of course knew who the ’he’ referred to was.

She was slightly annoyed: ”You’re not just hoping for this when you came to the Southern Region, right?”

”Otherwise?”

Ai Xiaoxiao suddenly saw Tang Xin’s face change, startled: ”Tangtang, what are you going to do?”

”Goodbye,” Tang Xin said irritably: ”You go watch your competition, lovesick young lady, I won’t accompany you!”

Now she felt that not only was this stubborn girl hopeless, but she was also starting to feel hopeless herself.

Although she was so angry, she knew in her heart the reason she agreed to come south with her friend was pretty much the same. Although the hope was slim, she still wanted to see if that damn big pigeon would indeed come to participate in this competition.

In two months, she seemed to have no better choice.

Isn’t it?

Diket was watching Tang Xin leave angrily from afar, then the little girl behind quickly chased after her in panic, the two left the hall of the Airport District one after the other.

He couldn’t help but smile, then raised his head, subconsciously looked toward another side of the hall, and coincidentally exchanged a glance with someone.

Diket was slightly startled.

There was a starport soldier wearing a black trench coat, he had just walked out of the airport tunnel and glanced at him. Ditke looked at this person, suddenly remembered his identity, and nodded gently to him.

At this moment, two old-style constructs finally delivered his wooden box to the side lift platform.

”Sir, which level would you like to go to?” The construct emitted a mechanical inquiry.

”Leave it here, I’ll take it myself,” Diket then turned back to answer: ”You can go elsewhere.”

The construct — or rather the alchemist behind it — then slightly bowed to him. The two constructs then creaked as they shuffled off in another direction.

Ditke glanced in that direction once more, then stepped onto the platform.

Not far away.

The starport soldier wearing a black trench coat paused when looking in this direction — evidently, that previous sight caught his attention — but Su Changfeng stopped, lightly thought for a moment, then recalled something. ”Is it him?”

Su Changfeng suddenly remembered many things.

That was more than thirty years ago, wasn’t it?

He still remembered meeting him once during the Stargate Port’s joint manifesto signing ceremony with the natives. However, at that time, the other party was already one of the main representatives of Colin Ishurian, while he was just a newcomer in the military.

In his memory, the other party looked almost unchanged from today, except for the white at the temples, appearing more weathered.

Su Changfeng actually remembered the situation back then.

He had just been selected as a successor to take over from the First Generation Stargate Pioneer. And at that time, the Stargate Pioneers were naturally very different from today’s understanding of the Invoker.

There weren’t any Invokers back then.

The Stargate Port was far from the scale it is today, and the later pioneers weren’t called Invokers — locals only referred to them as the ’Holy Chosen’, and those who went to the Stargate included soldiers like him, elite government members, and professionals from various scientific fields.

The era of Stargate commercialization hadn’t arrived yet, but a rudimentary form was already planned.

Then came what people eventually knew as the First Generation and Second Generation Free Summoners. However, the origin of everything must be traced back to those earliest pioneers — for without them, there would be nothing that came after the Stargate.
