Pillar of Yita

The control of Constructs is similar, Numelin Elves can control the incredibly complex structures of Giant Constructs with ease, while mortals merely copy their path and soon find themselves at a dead end. It wasn’t until the rise of smaller Constructs that the era of Combat Artisans for mortals was reshaped.

But are Giant Constructs formidable? In the hands of mortals, they are not particularly effective, being clumsy and inefficient. However, in the hands of the Numelin Elves, they were the main war machines in the War of Aithelin. This was an apocalyptic war involving deities, and for such Giant Constructs to stand out in such a war proves they are not entirely useless.

Anluose, seeing his understanding, continued: ”Secondly, the capability of mimicry sorcery.”

”The capability of mimicry sorcery?”

”It’s what you refer to as a system,” Anluose replied. ”Numelin Elves can observe the structure of the Ether Network and matter through the vision of magic power, but mortals cannot achieve this, so they invented the Magic Furnace as a substitute. But the Magic Furnace is merely a compromise; it doesn’t truly apply to Ancient Alchemy, but from my observation, you Holy Chosen seem to have a capability that substitutes for magical vision—allowing you to directly perceive the structure of the Ether Network and matter.”

Fang Hong nodded again.

Indeed, even if it’s not the Dragon Knight System, but a standard Summoners System, it still comes with an Artisan System. However, their Artisan System is smaller in scale and cannot fully replace the efficiency of a Magic Furnace, so when dealing with some complex and large structures, they still have to use the Magic Furnace.

It was then that Anluose changed the topic: ”Almost every Holy Chooser possesses the latter condition, but those with the first capability are few and far between. Moreover, any Holy Chosen with a slightly stronger calculative power has switched to becoming a Combat Artisan, with few willing to take the time to delve into the foundation of an Alchemist.”

The Tower Guard sighed softly: ”I have waited here for many years, and you are the second person I’ve seen who fully possesses both conditions and continues to develop on the path of a craftsman.”

The second? Fang Hong couldn’t help but be curious about who the first one was.

But when he asked this question, he did not receive a response from Anluose.

Anluose just looked at him and said: ”But you don’t need to be complacent; your multiple parallel processing is still lacking, and this is precisely your first test that I give you. Once you have practiced your multiple parallel processing to twelve layers, come to me to learn the second skill.”

The Tower Guard paused slightly: ”You have a month, no more, no less.”

But after hearing this, Fang Hong couldn’t help but scratch his head. Previously, he had demonstrated five-layer parallel processing, but that doesn’t mean he can only perform five layers—on Fenris Isle, he had the capability for five-layer parallel processing, and after leveling up quite a bit, with his calculative power improved, his multiple parallel processing capability would only enhance further.

He used five-layer parallel processing simply because he was most familiar with it and could execute it with assured confidence.

Therefore, after listening to Anluose, he couldn’t help but ask: ”If I manage it before a month, can the test be advanced?”

Anluose, for the first time, looked at him with a bit of surprise and asked: ”How much earlier do you intend to advance it?”

”Now?”

”Now?”

Fang Hong straightforwardly drew his sword—this sword was used by Alchemists for self-defense, but honestly didn’t serve much purpose in close combat; it might be more convenient for self-sufficiency. Therefore, he was unbothered, and twelve streams of light poured out from his hand, extending onto the sword.

Although the entire process was a bit awkward, at least nothing went terribly wrong—in just a moment, that sword turned into a pile of scrap iron. He was merely demonstrating his multiple parallel processing ability, so he didn’t initially consider what he wanted to forge the sword into—thus, it naturally became scrap.

But that was enough.

Anluose looked at this oddity with his silver eyes and, after a moment of silence, finally asked: ”Did you practice this yourself, without any foundational knowledge?”

Fang Hong thought for a moment and nodded.

The Tower Guard closed his mouth, merely nodding: ”Alright then, let’s start directly with the second skill now.”

And the next six months behind the door could probably be the most painful yet joyous time for Fang Hong.

He only took the first three months to master the five skills Anluose taught him—or rather four, since multiple parallel processing was originally already on his skill list.

These four skills, like multiple parallel processing, were essentially the foundations of the Numelin Elves’ Alchemy. And like the foundations of contemporary Alchemy, they actually included the single array, materials, magic power, and characters.

However, during the process of learning this knowledge, Fang Hong realized that the biggest difference between the Alchemy of the Numelin Elves Era and contemporary Alchemy was that the elves seemed to always pursue speed.

Including multiple parallel processing, the elves seemed to always seek the ability to rapidly create objects in a short period, which instinctively reminded Fang Hong of that scene where the Tower Guard showcased forging Legendary Equipment to him.

At that time, it seemed the same—Mithril materials instantly transformed in the opponent’s hands into a complete Magic Guided Conductor, and every time it changed form, it didn’t exceed a few seconds.

Contemporary Alchemists tend to highly regard the place and environment, as most productions require quiet settings for their lengthy, labor-intensive completion. Including the process of the Engraved Array, it could take from several days to several months.

When he made the Pride of the Lonely King previously, much of it was using ready-made materials and components, but even then, it took five to six hours to complete. However, for the Numelin Elves, they actually seldom used ready-made components and materials.

The elves seemed accustomed to improvising, instantly creating arrays, assembling components, and then integrating them into a complete Magic Guided Conductor.

This instant formation ability gave their Alchemists an almost Combat Artisan-like power, meaning that in the Numelin Elves Era, Combat Artisans and Alchemists were very likely indistinguishable.

When Fang Hong realized this, he couldn’t help but feel like he discovered a new continent. He finally understood why Anluose had spoken in such a manner previously; disregarding the development of contemporary Alchemy, compared to the Numelin Elves Era, Combat Artisans seemingly indeed strayed onto a divergent path.

If a Combat Artisan truly completely abandons the path of Alchemy, can they still be called an artisan?

But before Fang Hong could fully understand this point, real hardship descended upon him.

That was when he began a skill called ’Elemental Filtration,’ which, in Anluose’s description, was the core ability of the Numelin Elves to improvise with local materials.

However, sensing elements posed a considerable problem for Fang Hong.

He found that he was unable to sense elements, hence naturally couldn’t begin to understand this skill.
