Pillar of Yita

”Aim, fire!”

Amid the tumultuous scene of bodies sprawling in every direction, the captain of the Blood Oath Alliance’s ranger team swiftly navigated through the crowd, not pausing to check the silver arc’s altitude in midair. He stopped beside a row of archers and adjusted the height of the longbow in a ranger’s hand.

A chorus of bowstrings vibrated, and the sky seemed to darken as a volley of feather arrows soared into the air, silencing the entire combat zone. Warriors from both sides turned their heads to watch the silver light piercing between two pyramids.

In front of it, a wall made of arrow volley slowly ascended.

”Second round!”

The ranger captain raised his own longbow, shouting loudly.

But suddenly, the silver light in midair dipped.

Fang Hong was pulling down his wind goggles, surrounded by the whooshing sound in his ears, watching as dense arrows rushed towards him. While estimating the distance of his flight, his light wings subtly adjusted, and he flipped his body like a free bird, narrowly gliding beneath the arrow barrage.

Grant looked up at this scene, raising an eyebrow in astonishment, not just him, but those around him, the Rain Listeners, also let out quiet gasps of awe.

To everyone’s eyes, the midair silver light resembled a swiftly dancing swallow, soaring underneath the gloomy cloud of arrow rain, swaying left and right with occasional arrows met only by a brilliant shower of light from the shield.

The silver light accelerated, soon nearing the rear part of the pyramid.

”Can you guys even shoot arrows?” the ranger captain exclaimed in frustration, ”That’s a glider wing, lower the trajectory!”

”Crossbowmen, forward!” he turned his head, ”Switch to chain arrows, prepare the net bolts!”

The archers stepped back in unison, and a row of dwarves wielding heavy crossbows advanced, crouching to lift their weapons and pulling the triggers. With a loud bang, the massive crossbow machine shook the ground, sending bolts with long nets soaring into the air.

”Ah!”

At the other end of the distant battlefield, Tianlan couldn’t help but scream in shock, realizing that chain arrows and net bolts were the perfect choice against low-flying targets. Even more agile flying units would hardly stand a chance against these, let alone a mere glider.

But as soon as she stopped, Lion People’s Reed pushed her from behind.

”Don’t stop, little girl,” the Big Cat People holding the Scepter of Authority said, ”Your enemy is still ahead!”

As he spoke, he looked up with a pale silver gaze towards the silver light in midair.

And that trail of silver made an unsettlingly sharp turn, almost at a right-angle—

Meanwhile, Fang Hong, with his back turned in midair and facing away from the incoming arrow rain, raised his right hand, aiming at one of the pyramids. With a loud bang, a rocket fist shot out, carrying a long cable, hitting the pyramid’s tip squarely.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, the cable suddenly tightened, pulling the silver light into a turn, grazing beneath the second wave of arrow rain.

At the same time, the cable atop the pyramid swept across, perfectly avoiding Baihua who was leaping through a forest of spears, and sweeping the members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team on the ground into disarray.

The youth landed, finding a large empty space around him.

He straightened up incredulously, just in time to see Fang Hong completing a half-circle in the air, plummeting towards the other side of the pyramid. ”Stop him!” all members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team reacted, turning towards that direction.

Baihua didn’t think twice, drawing his sword and charging in that direction, sweeping aside a few who attempted to block his path with his chainsword, instantly dismembering them. With Fang Hong’s intervention, his pressure lessened, and the combat immediately looked different.

The pyramid grew larger in Fang Hong’s eyes as he knew he was accelerating towards the ground, seeing the dense crowd on it converging towards him like ants.

But far from panic, his heart surged with an exhilarating thrill, laughing out loud in midair: ”See you later, everyone!”

He slightly spread his right hand.

Everyone saw the steel arm armor firmly attached to the pyramid suddenly ’click’ open, rolling back with the long cable, precisely catching onto Fang Hong’s right hand. Without the centripetal force holding him, Fang Hong, like a comet, rounded a large arc around the pyramid and suddenly flew backwards.

Thus, everyone could only stop and watch him recede into the distance.

This series of turns left everyone stunned, ”There’s such a move?” The ranger from Blood Oath Alliance stood gaping; actually, it wasn’t that Fang Hong was too difficult to hit in that state, but it was simply too unexpected, leaving them momentarily unable to react.

In fact, not just them, the members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team on the pyramid felt the same.

”Kaka’s down, Guzhou.” The Nightingale beside him suddenly looked up, his face somewhat grim, saying: ”That attack must’ve been from the Fire Giant, but to our knowledge, Ancient Tower’s Fire Giant technology should not have been shared externally.”

Guzhou frowned and stepped out from behind cover, looking between the darting silver light and the chaotic battlefield, turning back to ask, ”Who is that? The Rain Listeners definitely don’t have such a person, could it be someone from Silver Weslan involved?”
