Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 891: Chapter 524: What About Our Loved Ones?

This is something unavoidable as well.

At that time, his own head was a mess, in extreme shock, unable to make sense of the situation—how could he explain it to others?

If he told them, would everyone end up bewildered in that uncertain environment?

As soon as he surfaced, he immediately received a voice message from Li Yajun notifying him that his sister had appeared, along with several other matters, he was directly overwhelmed with busyness.

Gathering everyone together and systematically explaining the whole situation from beginning to end was already the best solution.

”Let’s go take a look.”

”Alright.”

No one else spoke.

Everyone, together, was placed under the treehouse, silently moving towards the statue.

Everyone was pondering something.

The statue was very close to the Crystal City, only a few dozen meters from its edge.

Soon, the group stood before the statue.

”A crystal statue?”

”...Is it the same as the Crystal City?” Ji Chaoyang mused.

After the stone exterior peeled away from the statue, the inner crystal statue became even more exquisite. If the original statue had required some discernment to recognize as Xu Xin, now this statue was unmistakably Xu Xin at a glance.

The shape of the face and the eyes were identical to his.

”...It can’t be confirmed as real, can it...” Wang Lei’s smile was somewhat forced, ”How long have we been here? The statue could have been carved after we arrived and then buried underground...”

”...No,” Ji Chaoyang spoke, ”I’ve always felt this world was strange, everything seems a bit too similar to Earth. I even thought before that maybe this is some kind of parallel world Earth. What Xu Xin said has... solved the biggest mystery in my heart.”

”I just didn’t expect it to be a future world...”

”But... but...” Jin Yue, who had been following behind the whole time, spoke up, mumbling, ”If all of this is true, then... is there no way for us to return to the past? Our relatives...”

Her words once again left everyone silent.

This was what they had been considering all along.

Their relatives and friends in that world are probably long gone, dead for thousands of years.

Moreover, most likely lost their lives in the disaster a thousand years ago.

Dad... Mom...

”If... if it’s true, then why weren’t our relatives sent to the future too!” Wen Guixin’s emotions were slightly out of control, ”Did the version of me, hundreds of years old, no longer care for my relatives?”

”...What’s the point of sending them,” Qin Yunlong said softly, leaning against a tree trunk, ”To die in this survival battle we know nothing about, just like other survivors?”

”But...”

”...The reason they weren’t sent here is probably that those people didn’t want any complications while aiming for their ultimate goal,” Xu Xin said softly, ”If they were to send unrelated people to the future and make them disappear, this already altered future might collapse again.”

This future, in the minds of those people, is a bright one and might be the future where Earth is saved. They don’t want this altered future to collapse.

Moreover, if the future really collapsed, then the people sent to the future would collapse with it, which would end up harming them.

”And...” An idea formed in his heart.

Their relatives might have lived out their entire lives.

”...Didn’t you say before, that after the disaster, they moved some humans underground as the last fire of humanity?” Ji Chaoyang suddenly spoke, ”If it were me, among those people... there would definitely be my relatives.”

Xu Xin smiled, ”Is that what you think too?”

That was also his thought.

His parents forgot about him and the later departed Yingying, were sent underground when the disaster struck, to live and reproduce with the hidden population.

He and Yingying left seven years before the disaster struck, and with all being forgotten, his parents would think they had no children, likely to have continued having kids, giving them a brother or sister.

Then, after the disaster, they would spend their later years underground with their children.

Forgetting him and Yingying, his parents wouldn’t grieve for the two of them.

Moreover, with future technology, aside from no longer seeing the sky, their life might even be better than before.

Compared to others who perished in the disaster, they were indeed very fortunate.

In this regard, though Xu Xin felt melancholic, he wasn’t overtly sorrowful.

At least, his parents truly lived out their lives and died of old age. Even for ordinary people on Earth during peaceful times, that’s already the greatest happiness.

Xu Xin shared his thoughts, lightening the previously heavy atmosphere around them considerably.

”...Yeah, you’re right!” Wen Guixin exhaled deeply, ”As long as they can be happy, it doesn’t matter what happens to me. In a way, it’s good they forgot about me...”

”Wow, this matter... talk about emotional highs and lows!” Wang Lei also perked up, energetically stirring up the still somewhat dull atmosphere.
