Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 860: Chapter 514: Opportunities Brought by Chaotic Time!

Xu Xin had too many questions he wanted to ask, and if it weren’t for the fact that the person in front of him was just an unresponsive image, he would have interrupted the other person long ago.

No matter how incredible the words of this several-hundred-years-old self seemed, Xu Xin thought they were still believable.

Perhaps, this was a kind of trust that transcended time and space.

But if the first batch of survivors were their own sent into the future, what about the subsequent batches... were they too?

Then why is it that now, as they seem to just arrive in this world, they’re under the control of those alien invaders?

The image of Xu Xin continued to speak.

”I am not one of the first to return to the past, because in the future, I am still needed to preside over the overall situation. Similarly, most of my team partners did not return to the past in that batch.”

Team partners?

Could it be...

”Of course, those who returned to the past in that batch were also people who had survived for hundreds of years since the disaster. We, in these hundreds of years, had a negligible population loss, and life was not too bad, yet they held very strong feelings toward the Earth of the past.”

”Even though most of them only lived on Earth for a few decades, that lifestyle was something not at all comparable to the post-disaster Earth...”

Beside him, Xu Ying sighed softly, her eyes showing a strong look of nostalgic reminiscence.

Though she was only in her twenties when the disaster struck, her yearning for the past was, instead, the deepest.

At that time, she was still in her student years, not yet tempered by societal experiences.

Especially since she had just experienced the most beautiful and free four-year college life, only to fall directly into a dark age, the contrast was immense, making her memories of Earth completely as beautiful as paradise.

Of course, it was the same for others, for the original Earth, no matter how bad, couldn’t compare to even a small part of the post-disaster world.

”However, they didn’t have the chance to experience once again the life before the disaster, they couldn’t even manage to replace the self sent to the future to return home, because... even though we found loopholes to return to the past, and weren’t erased ourselves, yet...”

The image of Xu Xin’s eyes dimmed: ”Our traces in the world were erased as well. In this world, there is no longer anyone who knows us...”

Xu Xin also sighed softly.

This... truly is far too lonely.

He had just personally experienced this himself, as when he found out his own mother had forgotten him, that feeling was truly extremely painful.

Luckily, Yingying still remembered him.

...?

Why did Yingying still remember him?

”Of course, because at that stage we didn’t know how long we could exist in the past, we who were existing in a pseudo-future, weren’t aware of how long before we would turn to void.”

”Thus, upon returning to the past, they quickly implemented the second step of the plan.”

”Before the alien invaders arrived, let the dormant bloodline of ancient beasts on Earth revive!”

Reviving the bloodline of ancient beasts, referring to... that giant, right? Xu Xin thought as he listened.

”Because we mastered the activation method from the original alien invaders, this step... went smoothly.”

”The bloodline of ancient beasts was activated in the first ten years of alien biological invasion.”

”A bloodline that had been dormant for billions of years finally reappeared before our eyes!”

”However, activation wasn’t so easy; we paid no small price because initially, the bloodline of the beasts was merely an unconscious fossil.”

At this, the image of Xu Xin laughed self-deprecatingly: ”No matter the creature, it cannot live as long as the heavens, even I, just have a longer lifespan, much longer than ordinary humans.”

Wait a minute...

The bloodline of beasts is an unconscious fossil?

Xu Xin was slightly stunned.

He always thought the sleeping bloodline of the beasts referred to by the image of Xu Xin was the giant he encountered.

Turns out it’s not?

Then in that case... that giant is...?

”Because they are fossils, the bloodline of beasts needs us to extract and research on our own, to continue with our plan of resisting foreign invaders, yet those sent to the past could not research the beast bloodline.”

”Originally, we considered bringing the beast bloodline to the future for research, since the facilities and manpower here are much stronger than in the past, but...” The image of Xu Xin sighed at this point, ”But we found we could not bring things from the past into the pseudo-future anymore.”

”What can travel between the pseudo-future is only us from the pseudo-future and the time machine.”

”My future is already ethereal and can’t bear real objects naturally, so those actual items from the past cannot enter an already fake future!”

At this, the image of Xu Xin’s eyes grew somewhat gloomy: ”Do you know how desperate we were back then? It was as if the universe’s laws were preventing us from saving our home.”

Xu Xin remained silent.

He could feel the hatred in the image of his inner self at this moment.

”What a lousy universe, truly disgusting!” Suddenly Xu Ying, who had been silent during image Xu Xin’s narration, angrily cursed.
