Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 855: Chapter 512: The Truth of the World—Future and Past!

”Haha, quickly call me sister, you little brat!”

”You’re rebelling against me!”

The image of Xu Xin gave Xu Ying a hard flick on the forehead. Contrary to his expectations, the image of Xu Ying didn’t resist fiercely but instead covered her forehead, mumbling something, and sat back in her chair.

Xu Xin: ”...”

What the heck?

Can we be a bit more serious?!

Can you quickly tell me what the situation is now!

”Strictly speaking, you are actually the younger, pre-disaster me, but you are currently in the future timeline, so you are indeed the future me.”

... Since when did I become a riddle person?

The image of Xu Xin once again slowly explained everything he wanted to know.

A thousand years ago, Earth was in ruins.

An entire hemisphere fell overnight, and the other hemisphere, under attack from mutated creatures, couldn’t even put up a fight, collapsing completely in just a few days.

If it were just an alien invasion, the united humans on Earth might not have been so hapless and vulnerable.

But these extraterrestrial beings never showed their faces from start to finish.

They were using the original creatures on this planet to destroy and conquer it!

Numerous human military bases were precisely targeted by gigantic mutated creatures under the light, and within days, humans lost most of their means of self-defense.

What terrified humans the most were not those tigers, lions, and elephants, but the swarms of mutated flying insects, reptiles, rodents, and various small creatures...

They took advantage of their vast numbers and small size, infiltrating every nook and cranny, and coupled with their enhanced bodies, humans had no place to hide or room to fight back!

Where there were people, there were bound to be these creatures!

In peacetime, humans couldn’t eradicate ordinary mosquitoes, rats, and cockroaches, let alone drive out these stronger mutated creatures during wartime!

If large mutated creatures like grizzly bears, tigers, lions, and wolves were meant to disarm humans, then these flying insects and rats were launching an exterminating attack on the human race!

Moreover, the viruses and bacteria they carried also underwent genetic breakthroughs, directly breaching the relatively robust immune system humans had built up, causing countless humans to die madly within days of the disaster.

In such an offensive, the concept of national power was irrelevant. Even those in high positions had no means of self-protection when the disaster struck.

The ones who survived were the one-in-a-million, the supremely lucky ones.

”That’s us!” Xu Ying, sitting on the side, raised her hand. ”My brother and I are the supremely lucky ones, but...”

Her eyes dimmed slightly: ”Among the people we knew, only the two of us survived.”

Xu Xin’s pupils trembled.

Which means, his parents, friends, relatives, all...

Then he shook his head.

He didn’t really resonate with it, after all, it didn’t happen to him.

To him, this should be... something that happens in the future?

What the heck... It’s so confusing...

Moreover, what they just said is quite different from what Chang Yin told him before.

Firstly, the timeline doesn’t match.

Chang Yin clearly said that this world is only fifty years away from the catastrophe, but the image of him said a thousand years have passed.

Moreover, he didn’t seem to mention giant beasts, nor the enlargement of mutated creatures.

The version Chang Yin mentioned started with giant beast invasions.

”We survived not because we just happened to evade the attacks of mutated creatures,” the image of Xu Xin explained softly, ”but because... those mutated creatures simply don’t attack us.”

”There are more people like us, scattered around the world. We are the humans selected by those extraterrestrial beings. Our role is to be the ones to rule this planet after they completely invade Earth.”

Like a post-war puppet government?

Xu Xin was even more puzzled but didn’t speak and continued to listen.

”How old do you think I should be this year?” The image of Xu Xin pointed to his face and smiled.

How old?

Judging by appearance alone, the image seemed not much different from his current age.

It’s the look of someone in their twenties to thirties, a youthful appearance.

The Xu Ying beside him felt about the same.

But he mentioned that he was already thirty when the disaster struck, plus with his current outfit and experience, he has surely gone through a lot, so the real age of the image of himself should far exceed thirty.

”My appearance has stopped aging, and my lifespan is very long. From where you are in the future, this should be clear to you.”

... Doesn’t age, long life, is it?

No mistake about it.

Mutation.

Mutated creatures have long lifespans, as seen from Mimi, who, despite being locked underground for so long, remained vibrant.

”It’s just as you think. What you see as us, strictly speaking, are no longer normal humans. Our genes have long mutated. Our physical abilities have become quite strong as a result.”
