Chapter 827: Gluttony King I

The Incubus System Chapter 817. Gluttony King I

Rubyʼs eyes widened in shock as realization washed over her. ”Wait... So this cube is a kind of seal to protect humans?” she exclaimed, her voice trembling with astonishment.

I couldnʼt help but offer a wry smile. ”Congratulations, youʼve cracked the code,” I replied with a touch of sarcasm, my demonic energy coursing through me as I unfurled my wings.

Launching myself into the dark sky, I scanned my surroundings with a keen eye. My primary goal was to locate the elusive crack that had spawned Beel and determine if any more were emerging. But as I soared higher, my search yielded nothing but the grotesque sight of Beel.

There were no visible rifts in reality, no strange substances oozing from nowhere. The sensation of something amiss eluded me as well. The parasite that infested Beelʼs monstrous form didnʼt seem to have a physical presence outside of him. Instead, it emanated from his ʼfeet,ʼ although calling them that was a stretch. This was the epicenter of the infection, and it spread out from there, ensnaring at least fifty unfortunate souls.

A sense of urgency gnawed at me. This was a dire situation, and I needed to find a way to draw the parasites out of their unwilling hosts. But first, I had to deal with Beel and his reign of terror.

ʼJust finish Beel first!ʼ The urgency of the situation weighed heavily on my mind. I couldnʼt afford to dwell on the past. First things first, Beel had to be dealt with.

I extended my hands to my sides, summoning my trusty sword. My gaze locked onto the raging Beel, who resembled a tantrum-throwing giant. He waved his appendages, or whatever you could call them, in all directions, wreaking havoc on the surrounding buildings as if they were mere childʼs blocks.

I called upon my skill, ”Dark Storm!”

The Dark Storm erupted in all its dark, furious glory. The swirling tempest of shadows and power coiled around me, crackling with latent energy. The very air seemed charged with an ominous electricity as I summoned the storm to combat Beelʼs chaos.

The lightning, dark and crackling, arced with malevolence as it struck with precision. Beel, being a giant in this form, presented a prime target. I had hoped that the sheer magnitude of the strike would paralyze him, or at the very least, stagger him. He resembled a grotesque mass of jelly or a sack of fat, and one would think that heʼd be vulnerable to electrical shocks.

However, the damage announcement that followed revealed a stark truth. My attempt to immobilize him had failed. Beelʼs gargantuan form quivered and wobbled, but he seemed relatively unfazed. This was no ordinary foe; my initial attack had only scratched the surface of his true resilience. My heart sank as I realized the enormity of the challenge before me.

[You have struck Beel by 31 HP]

[You have struck Beel by 45 HP]

[You have struck Beel by 23 HP]

Yes, I quickly realized that the barrage of lightning wasnʼt going to be enough. Beel, in his grotesque form, seemed to shrug off the attacks with an air of annoyance, like minor insect bites. It was clear to me that unless I reached his core, our efforts would be in vain. The damage we were dealing with was simply too minimal, like attacking the thick layers of fat protecting his innermost self.

Beelʼs anger grew and he began to search for my whereabouts, I focused on a new strategy.

ʼHis core, I have to reach his core,ʼ I realized. My eyes locked onto his core, a tiny, elusive target buried deep within his bloated form. It was well-protected and out of reach for my sword. I needed to create an opening, a direct path to that core.

Drawing on my most basic skills, the ones that had accompanied me since the beginning of this fight, I summoned. ”Demonic Spike.”

Hundreds of sinister spikes materialized around me. Instead of scattering them, I concentrated my attack on a single point, forming a piercing pathway that would lead to Beelʼs core.

The lances hurtled toward him with increasing speed, Beel didnʼt flinch or attempt to evade. Instead, he employed a chillingly calculated response. Manipulating his grotesque form, he thickened the layer of slime around his core. This gelatinous substance, which already protected his core like a natural shield, expanded and solidified further, creating an even denser barrier.

The once-fleshy and semi-translucent layer morphed into a thick, nearly impenetrable jelly-like substance. It was as though Beel had wrapped his core in an unyielding fortress of his own making. The lances slammed into this fortified layer, their tips unable to pierce through the now-massive defensive cocoon he had created.

The lances relentlessly homed in on Beelʼs core, their precision was uncanny. They struck the same point on his jelly-like fortress with unerring accuracy, driven by my unwavering focus. Only a handful were deflected by Beelʼs quick and massive hands.

Upon impact, the lances released a corrosive, acidic effect that immediately began to eat away at Beelʼs gelatinous form. The acidic substance hissed and sizzled as it made contact, causing parts of Beelʼs jelly-like exterior to melt and dissolve. It was a gruesome sight as his body liquified in response to the corrosive assault.

However, despite the potent corrosiveness of the lances, the damage inflicted was minimal. The holes created were tiny, mere pinpricks in comparison to Beelʼs immense form. His incredible regenerative abilities swiftly countered the harm, mending the damaged area almost as quickly as it was corroded. It was a frustrating dance of destruction and repair, with the damage barely registering as anything more than a temporary inconvenience for the monstrous being.

Despite my efforts to breach his defenses, Beelʼs eerie and almost methodical manipulation of his form rendered my attack ineffective. My plan to create a path to his core had been thwarted by his monstrous adaptability.

But of course, I wouldnʼt let him win.
