Chapter 808: Unlucky Night

The Incubus System Chapter 799. Unlucky Night

After our discussion about Jill, it was time to make her as comfortable as possible. Mrs. Clea and Celia took charge of bathing her.

As for me, they swiftly kicked me out of the house, insisting that I go buy a few sets of clothes for Jill.

I nodded in agreement before making my exit. However, it wasnʼt a simple trip to a nearby clothing store. Since it was late and most stores were closed, I decided to use my portal for some speedy shopping.

Using my Camouflage skill, I transformed myself into an adult mom, hoping to avoid any misunderstandings or odd looks.

The foreign marketplace was alive with colorful stalls and shops, and I quickly browsed through racks of childrenʼs clothing, keeping Jillʼs size in mind. I selected a variety of outfits, from comfortable pajamas to casual daywear.

Returning to my house with the bag of clothes and underwear, I immediately went to Celia.

She was already in her room, preparing for her to get settled for the night. I handed over the bag, and Celia gave me a nod.

With that taken care of, I had a pressing matter on my mind. I needed to go to some politicians on my list, those who were potential senators in the Angel Creation project.

Tonight, however, didnʼt seem to be my lucky night. Out of the four candidates, only one turned out to be a senator. The other three, though unethical in their political practices, were not directly involved in the Angel Creation project. Still, their actions had to be corrected, and thatʼs where my Mind Corruption skill came into play.

I set to work, delving into their thoughts and planting seeds of change.

I couldnʼt help but feel frustrated, especially when dealing with an official from the Aeros Republic. This particular individual had manipulated tax policies, directly affecting me and countless others.

Then... Driven by curiosity and concern for Jill, I made a decision. I temporarily held my pursuit and instead directed my attention towards Eldoria, its leader to be exact.

And, what I uncovered was nothing short of a nightmare. The truth was far darker and more sinister than anything I could have anticipated.

The experiment was a twisted and horrifying ordeal. It was a dark chapter in Eldoriaʼs secret history.

The experiment had begun with a seemingly noble purpose — to provide shelter and care for orphaned children with unique bloodlines. These children were initially taken in with the promise of a better life. But this façade quickly unraveled.

Rather than nurturing these orphans, the government turned them into experiment subjects. The ultimate objective was to mold them into something beyond mere demon hunters — something far more sinister and powerful.

Out of the ten unfortunate children who were subjected to this nightmarish ordeal, only one managed to survive the trials.

Tragically, another died due to illness, leaving eight of them, including Jill, as failures. They were released back into the world, left to the orphanages.

The sole success story, the one who had endured the experiments and emerged as a force, was conscripted into the governmentʼs service.

He was transformed into a weapon, a soldier designed to combat demons. I couldnʼt help but wonder if, someday, our paths would inevitably collide. I estimated that the kid should be as strong as the Hound.

Ultimately, the government chose to shut down the experiment. It had not only exacted a devastating human cost but had also drained a significant amount of resources. The chances of successfully replicating their one ”success” were deemed too slim, and the experiment was deemed unsustainable.

It was nearing midnight as I quietly returned home.

Celia and Jill were sleeping.

I took a moment to check on Jill. With a sigh of relief, I left her to rest.

In my room, Foxy had already slept on the bed.

I removed my clothes and slipped into something more comfortable using my Demonʼs Clothes.

Without hesitation, I allowed my body to collapse onto the mattress. I knew that Purielʼs dream spell awaited me once more. But this time, I welcomed it. I needed to speak with her, to find answers. 𝘙α𝐍𝘰βΕ𝓢

The moment my eyes closed, I was plunged into a world of white.

Before I could even gather my thoughts, Purielʼs voice resonated through the emptiness.

”Welcome back, Ethan,” she greeted me. ”Have you spoken to Mia? What did she say?”
