Child of Destiny

Chapter 2091: The Final Trial

...

After an entire hour of rest, everyone regained the ideal state that they could have for the next trail.

Not long after, the system had finally notified them about the start of the final trial.

*Ding*

System: The Final Trial is commencing. Please make sure that your representatives are ready.

BOOM!

Right at the same time, the platforms that they were standing on suddenly trembled, making them somewhat lose their balance.

Rumble! Rumble!

Before they could even stabilize their respective footings, all five platforms suddenly plunged. They all dove into the depths of the abyss of darkness right beneath them.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The speed of their descent was so fast that they were almost sent flying in the air and left behind by the platforms if not for their quick response.

They all got down and stuck themselves into the platforms, afraid that they would be thrown into the air.

After all, the height of this place was quite extreme, especially after seeing the deep abyss underneath them. They would most likely die from the fall if they were left suspended in the air and fell later.

Flying abilities were useless in this space as well, making it impossible to rely on such abilities and gamble themselves for such a slim chance of survival.

They still had yet to figure out the true might of the restrictions that this place had. After all, no one wanted to lose their chance to further explore the upcoming trials in exchange for their curiosity.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Not long after, they finally reached the bottom of that dark abyss.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Right after arriving at the bottom, everyone swiftly picked themselves up and got ready for the battle.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

After all, they all realized that the barrier that was protecting their respective platforms was now gone. This could also mean that they could now attack each other if they wanted to.

They also realized that the mysterious veil that was shrouding everyone from the opposing sides was no longer present, making them see each otherʼs appearance.

This could also mean that they could now communicate with each other.

The side of the Dragon Pavilion and Hydra Guild were about to make their move against each other when the system warned them about their actions.

*Ding*

System: Any hostile actions against anyone within this space without the permission of the Dungeon Master will be labeled as an act against their authority.

System: Anyone who disregards this rule will be executed on the spot!

…

After the simple warning for everyone, the system continued.

*Ding*

System: The final trial is commencing!

*Ding*

System: This trial is meant to test your endurance, tenacity, and resolve. Those who are not determined enough to achieve their goal are unworthy of ʼHisʼ inheritance.

System: The rule for this trial is simple – SURVIVE!

Right after the system had announced the seemingly ʼsimpleʼ rule for the final trial, a domineering voice suddenly shook the entire place while saying.

[COME! Come and get his inheritance!]

BOOM!

Right after, the entire place shook intensely, seemingly having a high magnitude earthquake that was threatening to bury the entire place.

Fortunately, the entire dungeon seemed to have been reinforced by highly powerful spells and magical structures that made it stand tall.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Right after, they saw that the walls surrounding them suddenly split, with the lower half sinking toward the ground while the upper half was rising into the darkness above them.

BOOM!

Not long after, everyone found themselves in the middle of an extremely huge hall that seemed to be capable of fitting an entire city with a size that could rival the entire Divinity City.

This gigantic hall was empty at first, but they later realized that the ground was somewhat trembling as if something was trying to emerge from it.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

A moment later, they all saw a towering ziggurat emerging from the far end of the hall.

Despite the extreme distance, everyone could still see a huge silhouette of it, which indicated how large it was.

Moreover, given the senses of everyone here and their respective means to pierce through such a distance, everyone could also see that there were four individuals standing right at the top of this gigantic ziggurat and facing them.

One of them was a muscular person with well-developed muscles and an extremely large build. He looked like a three-meter-tall giant standing at the farthest right of the peak of the ziggurat with his arms crossed before his chest.

An extremely intimidating pressure was constantly coming out from this personʼs body, which seemed to be capable of suppressing the entire atmosphere itself.

They were standing at an extremely far distance, yet everyone could still sense an overwhelming presence.

There was also a pair of huge nunchucks hanging on this personʼs back, with each shaft being as thick as an average personʼs thigh.

This alone was more than enough to tell everyone how heavy and sturdy those metal nunchucks were on his back.

Next to this person was another seemingly powerful expert of the ancient past. This person was wearing a set of traditional clothes used by ancient people.

It looked like a combination of a clean and elegant robe for the upper portion of the robe and a plain and long skirt for the lower portion.

He seemed to be wearing traditional pants meant to be used for martial arts practices.

Compared to the previous person, this man seemed to be somewhat older, which was indicated by his long, white beard that he had.

Along with the powerful yet scholarly vibe that this old man was giving, it seems like this person was a great expert who had gained the title of grandmaster during his era.

The third person was a person who seemed to be capable of coming in and out of existence. He looked like an intangible entity similar to a ghost.

His presence seemed to be the faintest and most insignificant among the four, but everyone could tell that he might be the scariest and deadliest among the group.

The aura that he was giving was extremely familiar to almost everyone, especially those from the Hydra Guild.

This person was, without a doubt, an assassin and an extremely powerful one at that.

Meanwhile, the fourth and final individual, who was standing alongside these three, seemed to be a woman.

She was wearing a set of elegant green robes filled with luxurious jewelry and gems.

However, despite her luxurious robes, none of the people who saw her would underestimate her, especially when they could see an aura filled with poisonous and venomous substances.

The toxicity of her aura could be seen visibly in the air, particularly with that dark green miasma surrounding her.

It was quite obvious that she was an expert in poison arts and hidden weapons.

Despite the extreme distance that they had from the different parties, everyone could feel their overwhelming presence, which also somewhat distorted the surrounding atmosphere.

However, it was also quite noticeable that all these people were no longer alive. The pale grey color of their skin indicated that they had already turned into incredibly powerful jiangshi.

…

”The four General Kings of the Ancient Tang Clan!” mumbled Boa after seeing the four individuals on top of the towering ziggurat.

Hearing his words, Aoki could not help but raise his brows, recalling the information that they had about these four. ”The four General Kings? They are the direct subordinates of Dark King Tang Hyeon!”

”It is said that each of them has also reached the pinnacle of the ancient realm, which is equivalent to Transcendent, Exalted, and Sword Paragon Realms of our current era.”

”They are extremely powerful,” he added in a grave tone.

From the side, Gunner suddenly added. ”If itʼs outside the game, then I must say that we are no match for them.”

”However, we are currently within the game. They should have a lot of restrictions that match the difficulty of this dungeon,” he added, feeling confident.

Hearing this, Luminous Dragon could not help but sneer at him. ”It seems like this is your first time being in this kind of dungeon.”

”Do you think that the dungeons related to the legacies left behind by the legendary experts of the ancient era are that simple?” he asked before quickly adding. ”Such a foolish thought will only kill you much earlier.”

”These dungeons are beyond your imagination,” he added.

Rumble! Rumble!

As if agreeing with his actions, the entire place suddenly trembled.

Crack! Crackle!

At the same time, the ground suddenly cracked, followed by a bunch of jiangshi crawling out of the ground.

Roar! Roar! Roar!

Not long after, the extremely massive hall was suddenly filled with countless jiangshi.

Roar! Roar! Roar!

They surrounded the group, trapping them.

…

Seeing this, everyone could not help but raise their brows, realizing why the goal for this trial was survival.

”This is going to be a bit more troublesome than earlier trials,” mumbled Arthur while looking at the number of jiangshi surrounding them like a massive swarm of ants.
