Child of Destiny

Chapter 2078: Aoki, the Forgotten King of Spears (Part 3)

...

Gunner immediately twisted his body midair right after he was sent flying, adjusting his center of gravity to regain his balance.

Bang!

Right after his feet landed on the ground, he swiftly lowered his stance while redirecting the residual force toward the ground.

He then firmly planted his feet on the ground while extending his arms outwards, seemingly calling out for something.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Immediately after, a pair of weapons that looked like metal wheels flew toward him, which he skillfully caught.

He played with them for a moment, twirling them around his body to showcase his dexterity and to generate stronger momentum.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Not long after, he swung his arms with all his might, throwing those metal wheels toward his opponent.

Shing! Shing!

They cut through the air during their fight while also leaving a bright trail behind.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

They drew arcs in the air while traveling toward their targets before suddenly assaulting Aoki, who remained standing on his spot in a laidback manner.

He glanced at the pair of metal wheels before casting his gaze back to his opponent.

Shing! Shing!

When the metal wheels were about to reach him, Aoki suddenly raised his spear and twirled it calmly.

Clang! Clang!

The metal wheels were easily deflected.

Bang! Bang!

Aoki had even made sure to send them toward the ground and stuck them in it so that they would not bounce and return to their owner.

Shing! Shing!

However, the powerful mana imbued into them continued to strengthen their respective spin, making them cut through the earth instead of being stuck in it.

Bang! Bang!

They then flew out of the ground and returned to their owner, who was already sprinting forward.

Gunner caught both metal wheels before throwing them back to his opponent.

Shing! Shing!

At the same time, the metal box that was floating right behind him spat out another weapon. This time, it was a long whip filled with metallic thorns.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Aoki watched every action his opponent made before responding accordingly.

Clank! Clank!

Deflecting the metal wheels once again, he continued to twirl his spear before suddenly stabbing forward.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

A barrage of beams suddenly flew out from the tip of his spear, heading straight to his opponent and bombarding the latter.

Each beam of light was packed with strong destructive power, which was clearly reflected by the sonic booms that they generated during their flight.

Seeing this, Gunner swiftly twisted his wrist before suddenly turning it in a circular manner.

Swoosh!

In response, the whip in his hand followed the movements of his wrist, turning and spinning around him.

A moment later, the barrage of beams finally fell around, which were accurately blocked by the blurs that his whip generated.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At the end of this barrage, the tip of the whip skillfully wrapped itself around the handle of a metal wheel before throwing them back to Aoki one after another.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

This did not stop here because the metal box behind him spat out another batch of metal wheels, which the whip caught and threw straight to the opposing side.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

It did not take that long before these metal wheels surrounded Aoki and assaulted him from every angle.

They might look like a bunch of ordinary metal wheels at a glance through regular sight. However, they became a completely different entity from Aokiʼs perspective.

Through his special eyes, along with his ocular skill, he was able to clearly see the ʼtrueʼ forms of these spinning metal wheels.

They all looked like a bunch of sharks swimming in the air when he looked at them and saw the Mana frequency surrounding each metal wheel.

They circled him like real sharks of the ocean, preying upon him.

Seeing this, Aoki fixed his grip over his spear, holding it with both of his hands, before adjusting his stance.

The spear was slightly slanted and pointing toward the ground while he channeled his mana into it.

Whoosh!

The head of the spear blazed with azure light when the accumulation of mana reached its peak, turning into a pale flame dancing in the air.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

It was at this moment that the ʼsharksʼ swarm at him from every direction, opening their jaws wide and about to devour him.

However, despite how fast they moved and trapped Aoki with their encirclement, the latter remained calm and watched their movements with indifferent eyes.

Whoosh!

A moment later, everyone saw a series of azure lines being drawn around Aoki, intertwining with one another and forming a net that caught all the surrounding metal wheels before they could even reach their target.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Right after deflecting the metal wheels, Aoki continued to twirl the spear around him, generating an even stronger momentum, before suddenly swinging it down.

Shing!

The world seemed to have stood still right after his spear fell, which was immediately followed by a vertical line that cut through the space and seemed to connect the heaven and earth.

Everything that this azure line touched was instantly severed, including all the metal wheels that he just deflected toward that direction.

Shing!

In the meantime, Gunner, who was subjected to this vertical line, froze for a moment when he saw this scene.

However, he immediately broke free from that trance after realizing that he had been affected by some sort of mental attack that disrupted his mind.

He swiftly gathered himself and pulled the whip back before making it twirl above him.

Swoosh!

The whip formed a spiraling force above his head, which then turned into a colossal shield that blocked the incoming strike from his opponent.

Boom!

”Tsk!” Gunner could not help but click his tongue when he saw that the colossal shield instantly collapsed before that azure line drawn by his opponentʼs attack.

Swoosh!

Extending his free hand to the side, a shield suddenly came out of the metal box behind him and flew straight into his hand.

Right after catching the shield, Gunner swiftly raised it and quickly activated one of his strongest defensive skills to defend himself.

BOOM!

A massive dome of energy was suddenly manifested, centering around him, before expanding upwards and clashing against the azure light that descending upon him.

BOOM!

Yet another explosion erupted right after the opposing powers collided against one another, sending massive shockwaves in every direction.

Bang!

While the energy dome was in the midst of crumbling, some extremely fast pierce through it and flew straight at Gunner, who was still focused above him.

Swoosh!

It was a bit late when Gunner noticed its approach, especially due to the chaotic explosions that were occurring everywhere.

Whoosh!

He swiftly retrieved the whip and quickly attempted to wrap the incoming projectile while he tried his best to retreat.

He had also placed his shield before him, facing the direction of that projectile, in case it reached him.

Whoosh!

Unfortunately, yet another attack came flying at him from a different direction.

Puff! Puff!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

They broke through the already crumbling energy dome and pierced through a hole in the air while flying at him.

This time, he could clearly see that they were in the form of spears made of azure light.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

This was just the start, since more spears of light flew at him, seemingly trying to trap him in place.

Just seeing the angles of these attacks, he could immediately tell that his opponent was plotting something.

In response, he let go of the whip in his right hand before taking out another shield from the metal box.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

At the same time, he swiftly joined the shields together while summoning a strong flood of energy that swiftly gathered around him and formed a sturdy sphere that covered him from everything.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The barrage of spears of light bombarded him from every direction, but he could not do anything to him due to the spherical energy protecting him.

However, they were also successful at preventing him from moving anywhere, which gave Aoki the right opportunity to strike.

Swoosh!

A huge hole suddenly appeared in the cloud of smoke in the sky.

Above, Gunner saw a figure standing in the air while holding a spear in a throwing posture.

He did not have to make a guess on who it was. He prepared himself for an incoming attack that should be more destructive than the previous ones.

Boom!

Not long after, he saw a colossal spear high up in the sky.

From his perspective, a huge figure of an ancient general rose, its massive spear poised to strike him down.

ʼSpear of the Divine General: Forbidden Skill – The Final Zenithʼ

Boom!

Along with Aokiʼs actions, the divine general behind him struck down its spear.

Below, Gunner gritted his teeth as he channeled every bit of energy he could into his shields.

He then slammed the shields together, forming a massive ripple in the surrounding air and creating a chaotic mana fluctuation in the process.

Boom!

Not long after, a seemingly majestic and gigantic castle rose and clashed against the descending spear.
