Child of Destiny

Chapter 2065: Conceding A Round

...…

For the next round, the side of the Dragon Pavilion had no choice but to step into the battlefield. After all, they were the only ones that had yet to send their representative for the current rotation.

Based on the rules of the current trial, their opponent could only be either from the side of the Black Market or Chaotic Luck himself.

Surprisingly, the Black Market chose to step on this round, sending the same person that they had sent out during the first trial – that person with sonic wave abilities.

This round might not be as intense as the previous one, especially when both sides were clearly a way weaker than Arthur and Cobra, who had performed quite well and gave everyone a good battle to watch.

However, even if this battle was not as exciting as the one with Arthur and Cobra, it was still a lot entertaining in the eyes of these experts.

Moreover, it also lasted much longer than the previous battle, giving the other parties a lot of time to analyze their skills and abilities.

These two did not care about it either since they were giving their all to defeat each other. It was as if this battle would be their last for the entire trial.

Seeing this, the other parties also understood that they would most likely not participate in the final trial right after this one.

”Choosing to sacrifice their members already, huh?” mumbled Aoki after seeing the ongoing battle.

”Should we follow them as an example?” asked Riko, seemingly reading the thoughts running through the latterʼs head.

Aoki turned to her before shrugging his shoulders. ”It is up to you. You will be the next combatant and give up the round if you want.”

Riko squinted her eyes before turning to Arthur. ”What do you think, Junior? Do you have any other suggestions?”

Arthur, who was resting on the side, thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. ”Anything is fine, Senior.”

”Given my understanding of that guy, there is a high chance that he will have multiple chances to participate in battle.”

”This leaves the question for you, Senior. Are you willing to sacrifice the next round to hide that fact, as well as prevent the opposing sides from learning about your skills? After all, they have never seen you in action yet.”

”Or do you want to stay on this trial and expose yourself and the multiple chances to those guys?” he asked in return. ”What do you want to choose, Senior?”

Riko feel in deep thought before turning toward the ongoing battle and asking once again. ”How sure are you about that so-called multiple chances?”

Arthur just shrugged his shoulders while answering. ”There is no basis for it, and I know that it is hard to believe. But I have a hundred percent sure about it.”

Riko turned to Arthur and stared intently for a while, giving the latter an uncomfortable feeling.

”I know that you are quite a beauty, Senior. But I already have someone that Iʼm interested in, so I must apologize,” said Arthur, trying to break free from her gaze.

Hearing this, Riko rolled her eyes at him. ”I am not interested in you either.”

She then glanced to the side before adding. ”And I also have someone I like already!”

Arthur could not help but give her a teasing smile before continuing. ”I wonder who it is?”

Despite knowing the answer already, he could not help but tease her, especially after noticing her knowing glance at Aoki.

However, he did not press further, knowing that he would only be digging his own grave if he continued.

…

In the meantime, the battle that was currently taking place had already reached its conclusion.

Surprisingly, the one who had lost was the person from the Dragon Pavilion, whom Arthur had already recognized.

”Oh~! Yuanʼs direct lackey has lost!? This is going to be a bit more interesting,” he mumbled after seeing the result.

Beside him, Ryoto turned and asked. ”You seem to have already recognized that person.”

Arthur pursed his lips before continuing. ”I am quite familiar with all their top experts, particularly the ones from the higher echelons-… when compared to other Powerhouse Guilds.”

”After all, I have a similar background to theirs. It is also because of that reason they have approached and tried to recruit me before,” he added before shaking his head. ”Unfortunately, our visions when playing games at that time were way too different.”

”That is why I have chosen to reject their invitation and play solo as a free man,” he shrugged his shoulders, not revealing too much information.

He then pointed toward the representative that the Dragon Pavilion had sent and continued. ”If I am not wrong, then that guy must be Little Dragon, Demon Dragonʼs little brother.”

”Demon Dragon? Yuanʼs right-hand man?” mumbled Ryoto when he heard this.

”Due to this guyʼs connection with his big brother, he manages to hook up with Yuanʼs inner circle and has become one of the direct lackeys,” explained Arthur before continuing. ”He may have used a backdoor to reach his current status within the Dragon Pavilion, but that does not mean that he is weak.”

”Just like you have seen, Senior,” he added before wearing a mystifying smile. ”But that is not the most interesting thing about this.”

”Based on my understanding of that, he is a vengeful spirit. He never let anyone go until he had gotten his revenge, especially when it came to someone who had defeated him.”

”He is very similar to his big brother when it comes to this situation. Moreover, Demonic Dragon is quite protective of his little brother. I can only imagine how much headache the Black Market will be having after this,” he smirked while looking at the platform of the Black Market with gloating eyes.

At the same time, he turned to Riko and asked. ”Have you finally decided what to do, Senior?”

She rolled her eyes at him before sighing. ”I understand! I already get it, alright? Iʼll give up on this round just for the sake of hiding my class from them.”

”If that is the case, then youʼd better hurry up since this will be the second rotation and anyone can send their people aside from the side of Black Market, who has already fought twice from the previous one,” said Arthur.

He still wanted to say something when he realized that the one standing in her location was nothing but a fading afterimage.

”Eh!? She has left already?” he mumbled in surprise.

He then turned toward the battlefield and saw that Riko was already standing at its center. ”Her teleportation skills are quite interesting as well. She has not shown any signs or created any mana fluctuations in the air, making it harder to read or predict.”

At the same time, Aoki, who had not said much up until now, could not help but ask. ”How sure are you that your friend will understand our intention and step up first before everyone else?”

Hearing this, Arthur chuckled and said. ”He will not understand such a complicated plan without us communicating with one another.”

”However, he is such a simple kid. So long as the rules had already laid out, all that guy has to do is follow them and the rest will naturally follow as well,” he added.

While he was talking, Aoki also realized that the other parties had just realized that they had already sent their members.

They were about to send their respective representatives when they all realized that Chaotic Luck had also already stepped on the field without them knowing.

Everyone was caught off guard, especially when they did not realize it was too late.

Even Riko, who was already standing right at the center of the battle that was already in a ruined state, was also taken aback when she noticed Chaotic Luck was already on the field.

Everyone else was confused, but Arthur and Leonard were very clear about what was happening.

There was even a mystifying smile on their faces when they knew quite well that the current situation was not as complicated as everyone was thinking.

…

In the meantime, Chaotic Luck, who had just stepped onto the battlefield once again, was as surprised as everyone when he saw his opponent.

”Eh!? I thought our Vice Commanders were from that side!? Why do they have to send their member to fight me? Arenʼt we on the same page?” he mumbled while staring at Riko in shock.

At the same time, he did not expect that his opponent would appear this early, matching his timing.

He thought that it should be his turn to fight as per his understanding of the rules of the current trial. He had overlooked the details about the said rotation.

What shocked him even more was what happened next.

Right after the system announced the start of the battle, he immediately realized the opposing side suddenly conceded the round.

He was still in the depths of his confusion when he saw Riko already returned to their platform.

”What!? What just happened?”
