Child of Destiny

Chapter 2057: Chaotic Luck’s New Terror (Part 4)

...

After considering all the scenarios inside his head, Soule decided to take the risk and jumped into the possible trap waiting for him.

Swoosh!

Channeling a large amount of mana toward his arrow, Soule aimed toward the sky before releasing it.

Swoosh!

A moment later, a streak of light flew toward the sky before exploding right after reaching the apex of its flight.

Bang!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Like a firework in the sky, the arrow split into multiple streaks of light that spread in different directions before falling toward the ground.

The streaks of light looked like a bunch of azure birds diving from the high heavens and heading towards the undead army on the ground to annihilate them.

’Tempest Ranger Skill (Tier 3): Thousand Spirit Descent’

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Bang! Bang!

The rain of bird-like arrows poured down from the sky and bombarded the Legion of Chaotic Sun.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions engulfed the entire battlefield, destroying most of the blazing skeletons. The only ones to survive were those with sturdy defenses, such as the skeleton knights and skeletal beasts, as well as the skeleton mages protected by their unified barrier.

This large-scale attack was one of the strongest cards that Soule had under his arsenal, but it seemed like it was still far from being enough to fully cripple the forces of his enemy.

Regardless, he had already achieved his initial goal, and that was weakening the battle formation of the army.

What was left now was to break through the formation and attack the master of this army, taking him down.

Swoosh!

With a flap of his elemental wings, he transformed into a streak of azure light that flashed through the air and flew past every obstacle that blocked his path.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

At the same time, he continued to fire his arrows toward Chaotic Luck, who was currently being protected by the skeleton mages and their thick magic barrier.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The wind arrows bombarded the barrier with rapid strikes and intense explosions, making it shake violently.

Snap! Snap!

Cracks also started to appear one after another when the magic barrier experienced the strong bombardment of arrows. The united magic of the skeleton mages was unable to fully withstand the attacks of their enemy, forcing them to increase the output of their mana.

Unfortunately, that was still far from being enough to stop the highly advanced combat techniques that Soule was using.

BOOM!

Particularly those strong spinning arrows that produced powerful hurricanes right after leaving the bow in Soule’s hands.

Seeing that the magic barrier was filled with cracks, Soule felt that it was finally the right opportunity to use another trump card. ”It is time!”

By spreading his wings wide and controlling the surrounding wind elemental mana, he forcefully halted his tracks while positioning his bow before him.

Along with a strong current of wind elemental mana, the bow grew larger, with its upper and lower limbs taking the form of a pair of beautiful wings.

When he started pulling the string back along with a special arrow, an intense azure light engulfed the entire arrow along with his arms.

From the other people’s perspective, there was only a huge bow and arrow appearing at the center of the battlefield, which was aimed at Chaotic Luck and the troops gathered around him.

’Tempest Ranger Skill (Tier 3): Calamity Arrow’

Twang!

Right after his hand released the bowstring and the arrow, all the energies that he accumulated were fired alongside it.

Shriek!

During its flight, the magic arrow also transformed into a huge azure bird that flew forward, annihilating everything on its path.

Boom!

The magic barrier that was already filled with cracks was unable to stop this attack, destroying it in an instant.

Shriek!

It did not even stop there since the azure bird continued to move ahead, further slaughtering everything on its path, particularly those skeleton mages behind the magic barrier.

Whoosh!

However, before it could even reach its target, a red flash suddenly appeared in front of it and blocked its path.

This tiny light before the huge azure bird turned into a humanoid figure holding a powerful greatsword engraved with magical patterns.

The Hell Pilgrim finally made its move!

Shing!

It swung its greatsword with all its might, releasing a huge crimson light that formed a crescent shape while cleaving the azure bird in half.

BOOM!

A huge explosion followed immediately after, which then produced a thick cloud of dust that swiftly engulfed the surroundings.

Swoosh!

”Foolish choice!” mumbled Soule as he appeared right above Chaotic Luck by taking advantage of this cloud of dust and using it as a cover to hide his tracks.

Naturally, he also did not overlook the fact that the Hell Pilgrim could sense his mana signature, especially when it was a special form of undead creature, and a highly advanced one at that.

The earlier explosion had already created a natural disturbance that could prevent the Hell Pilgrim from sensing his movements. The chaotic mana disturbed the natural flow of energy in the surroundings, which was a perfect cover for him.

Without further ado, Soule nocked three arrows at his bow and fired them at Chaotic Luck immediately after.

’Tempest Ranger Skill (Tier 3): Severe Storm’

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The three arrows that were simultaneously fired turned into a rain of arrows pouring down from the sky and headed straight at their target, covering all the possible escape routes.

Soule was confident that this skill would be able to deal enough damage to him, but he did not feel content and followed it with another.

Nocking another arrow at the bow, he channeled a huge amount of wind elemental mana into it before releasing the bowstring and sending the fully charged arrow toward his opponent.

Twang!

’Tempest Ranger Skill (Tier 3): Hurricane Flight’

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The arrow that he just released then turned into multiple azure birds that came diving down alongside the arrows that he had released earlier.

With these two coordinated attacks, Soule was sure that Chaotic Luck would at least have a hard time dodging or blocking them, given the large area that they covered.

Even if the Hell Pilgrim managed to return to save its master, Soule would at least have enough time find another angle to attack from.

Shing!

However, to his surprise, a flash of light suddenly flew straight at him alongside the sound of a sharp sword cutting through the air.

”What!? It is not going to save its master!?”

Soule was somewhat taken aback after sensing that the Hell Pilgrim chose to ambush him rather than save its master.

Regardless, he still responded accordingly and retreated, planning to kite the Hell Pilgrim while also trying to find a way to finish off Chaotic Luck.

...

In the meantime, Chaotic Luck was subjected to the rain of attacks pouring down at him from the sky.

He was unable to fully respond to it, especially when the pair of skills that Soule had used were Tier 3 Skills.

Even if he wanted to defend himself against them, he would require a couple of seconds at most to raise his strongest defensive spell to block them.

Unfortunately, he did not have such a luxury given his current situation.

Dodging and running away was an option as well, but the two skills were covering such a large area, which would be a great challenge for him to cover, even with consecutive Blinks.

However, he did not have much of a choice, which was why he chose the latter option.

Swoosh!

He used consecutive Blinks, trying to escape the area that the two skills covered. But unfortunately, the range of the attacks was too large for him to cover with the time he had at hand.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Explosions were already erupting in his surroundings when he was running.

Realizing his current predicament, Chaotic Luck decided to fight fire with fire, planning to use his instantaneous spells to counter the arrows and azure birds pouring down from the sky.

Whoosh!

He was doing this during teleportation, which made it a bit more challenging, especially when it came to control over his mana. But it was still somewhat manageable since he had already trained for these kinds of situations.

”Ah!”

However, when he was about to release those spells, his foot accidentally stepped on debris caused by the explosion, making him slip.

Thud!

He then fell on his butt, making the spell that was about to release fly toward a random direction.

Swoosh!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At the same time, his surroundings were further bombarded by more explosions due to the magic arrows and azure birds that continued to fall from the sky.

Chaotic Luck could not help but stare blankly into the air due to what happened. He felt so embarrassed for having such an accident during such an intense match.

He thought that he had already minimized his clumsiness during battles after training with Shin and the others, but he still failed to avoid such embarrassing accidents in the end.

His sudden pause was fatal given his current predicament, but for some miraculous reason, he had ended up being safe despite the series of explosions occurring around him.

He was safe and sound, even though he was sitting still right at the center of these attacks.

...

While Chaotic Luck was thinking about the embarrassing scene that he was making and thinking that the other experts would laugh at him, another scene occurred that pulled everyone’s attention away from him.

The spell that he was supposed to release earlier unexpectedly flew toward the direction where Soule and the Hell Pilgrim were fighting.

For Chaotic Luck, his spell flew out accidentally. But due to the path that it took, it felt like it was purposely sent that way, especially when it accurately ’predicted’ the spot where Soule was supposed to go.

Boom!

It then exploded with impeccable timing, catching Soule off-guard and giving the Hell Pilgrim the right opportunity to finish him off.

Almost everyone who had witnessed this scene could not help but wear a serious expression on their faces, especially when they did not expect the battle to end this way.

It felt anticlimactic given the earlier pace of the battle. But at the same time, it felt a bit strange, with a sudden ending that seemed thoroughly calculated.
