I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 747: Chapter 28: Kingly Bearing (Part 2)

Gerland Stadium, after witnessing Chen Zhong’s remarkable long-distance free kick, the emotions of Lyon and Real Madrid were completely opposite.

Lyon’s players were first in disbelief, and then their morale visibly plummeted to the bottom. Gourcuff and Pjanic, who had discussed Chen Zhong’s free kick, were even more doubtful of life.

Especially Pjanic, whenever he talks about the midfield position in the future, Chen Zhong will surely have a profound memory and place in his mind.

The fans of Lyon were even more complicated. Some were mocking Chen Zhong, joyfully dancing and pulling faces, but regardless of which type of Lyon fan, upon seeing Chen Zhong’s goal, they immediately fell into a state of shock, much like witnessing a pentakill in a game.

But soon after, there was a wave of boos...

Real Madrid’s players were much simpler. Initially, they were purely excited and happy, running with Chen Zhong towards the corner flag, celebrating with a jump display. However, some players had more complex inner thoughts.

For example, Cristiano Ronaldo...

The Portuguese was Real Madrid’s primary penalty and free kick taker, which he had fought hard for when he joined Real Madrid...

But now, his two privileges seem somewhat ”weakened.”

Compared to the players, Real Madrid fans were the purest. The compliment mode, pride mode, and bragging mode reached their peak at this moment.

To them, Chen Zhong, who came from Real Madrid’s youth training, with pure pedigree, high football IQ, high emotional intelligence, disciplined personality, and handsome appearance even in Western eyes, was nothing less than a ”godsend” to them, except he wasn’t blond and blue-eyed.

Mourinho stood on the sidelines, looking at Chen Zhong’s super long-distance free kick goal with a surprised expression. Then he turned to Francisco, seemingly confirming his own eyes, before shaking his head, applauding repeatedly, his eyes filled with hope for the future.

If...

If this season I can lead Real Madrid to become the unprecedented Triple Crown, perhaps...

I can request for more, right?

ps: Real Madrid has never achieved the Triple Crown, i.e., winning domestic league, domestic cup, and Champions League in a single season.

Meanwhile, Florentino, who took some time at home to watch the match, also satisfiedly turned off the television. In Zidane’s inquiry, he smiled and said: ”Perhaps we don’t need the world’s top coach.”

Previously, Florentino always thought Real Madrid needed the world’s best coach, but looking at last season’s Pellegrini, and now Mourinho, perhaps what he needs is a coach with certain capabilities who can carry out upper-level philosophy and utilize Chen well.

Real Madrid leads by three goals away, forcing Lyon fans to confront a harsh reality.

The reality is, Real Madrid is no longer the ”soft touch” Lyon could easily handle. To Real Madrid, Lyon’s curse no longer existed; it was just self-consolation for them.

Lyon’s morale, while not entirely subdued, was undoubtedly dismal.

Real Madrid’s morale was not only high but with a hint of arrogance and carelessness.

”Lyon’s counterattack!”

”Gomis with the ball!”

”Khedira pulls the opponent down!”

”But Gomis passes the ball to Gourcuff.”

”Gourcuff carries the ball, opts for a long shot.”

”Casillas makes a diving save.”

”Gomis charges in, attempting a shot!”

”But it flies off target.”

Gomis regretfully holds his head, and in the stands, Lyon’s fans also feel immense regret.

This could be described as their best chance, but Gomis pursued the angle too much, and it flew off target!

With a three-goal advantage, Real Madrid controlled the match tempo firmly. Mourinho on the sideline was also very relaxed, conveying a clear message.

Under the premise of good defense, if there’s a chance to counterattack, they will. If not, so be it.

By halftime, Lyon hadn’t had any opportunity, and after mid-game adjustments, they had even less in the second half.

Their attacking line wasn’t as sharp as Real Madrid’s, their midfield wasn’t as strong, and their defense wasn’t as stable. Suppressed on all three lines by Real Madrid, they could only express their ”anger” through fouls.

Four minutes into the second half, Bastos pulled Kaka from behind and was directly warned with a yellow card by the referee.

The teams almost had a conflict because of this instance, and the free kick was given to Cristiano Ronaldo. Inspired by Chen Zhong, the naturally competitive Cristiano Ronaldo went for a shot with a tight angle.

This powerful shot, both in strength and angle, was good but, unfortunately, luck was slightly off as it glanced off a defender and hit the far post!

Just one minute later, Alonso took a corner from the right, and Ramos’ header from 8 meters out was again blocked by the crossbar! These encounters with the framework were only 69 seconds apart.

It seemed like during this period, God finally started to favor Lyon.

In the 60th minute, Mourinho substituted the somewhat aimless Adebayor for Benzema, who was eager to show his worth.

”Real Madrid’s attack.”

”Benzema is very proactive in this match.”

”He just teamed up with Chen Zhong to pressure the opponent near the left touchline.”

”Chen Zhong intercepts, back heels the ball, nudges Gourcuff aside, and chips it to Ronaldo!”

”Ronaldo receives near the edge of the box and then passes to Benzema!”

”Benzema!”

It seemed Benzema wanted to showcase himself in front of his former team. This time, contradicting his usual sluggishness, Benzema moved proactively.

With his coordination, Chen Zhong completed a pressure play from the backline,

The ball quickly reached Cristiano Ronaldo. After receiving, the Portuguese pushed it to Benzema.

He always has a special care for Benzema.

In the past, Benzema might have been hindered by luck or other reasons, leading to suboptimal performance, but not this time. For unknown reasons, Benzema acted boldly and confidently.

He evaded Reveille and Sissoko on the left side of the box, then with a right foot sweep from 9 meters out, the ball slipped beneath Lori into the bottom right corner.

The ball rolled towards the goal, even Chris’s retreat and clearance couldn’t stop it from going in.

Real Madrid scores again!

Benzema scores just 43 seconds after coming on!

After the goal, Benzema showed no emotion, making no celebratory move, accepting hugs from his rushing teammates.

”Benzema!”

”Leading by 4 goals!”

”Real Madrid has nearly secured their advancement spot.”

”Benzema surpasses Basel player Grek’s 89-second scoring record with a substitute appearance, becoming the fastest scorer this season with 43 seconds.”

”Of course, his proactive performance and fighting spirit throughout the match were eye-opening.”

”From start to finish, he played a pivotal role in this goal.”

Benzema broke free from his teammates’ embraces, his gaze and composure were peaceful, no longer the usual sluggishness, yet with resilience all within.

That resilience called...

”I’m determined to make my mark at Real Madrid.”
